I seem to remember, while the whole OJ Simpson trial was going on, seeing a political cartoon in one of the daily papers showing a court clerk replacing Judge Ito's name plate with one saying Judge Joe Dredd. I remember being quite thrilled at the time about Dredd being a bit political and mainstream...

Anyone else see this at the time?

Any subs got Mandriod and Heavy mob yet? Still haven't got mine and really looking forward to getting them. What is Heavy Mob like for those who have it?

I wasn't impressed... http://www.sidekickcast.com/judge-dredd-mega-collection-7-the-heavy-mob/

Issue 1 contains all 3 america series and some behind the scenes sketches.

And 4 other Colin McNeill stories.

One of which, Judgement Call, I always considered as an epilogue to the three previous America stories.

Hmmm, I don't know. I really don't know. It was an interesting experiment I suppose. I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. When I saw the trailer I was really put off by the art but it wasn't as bad as I feared when it got going. Sure, it's not the Dredd I know and love and my Dredd canon alarm went off quite a lot, but like I said "An interesting experiment" and as others have said in this thread there's plenty of room for other Dredd interpretations.

Heh. I just realised that "Aux Drift" is going to end up being a play on the battle at Rorke's Drift when the British Army took on the Zulu Nation in 1897.

Gene and his Aux army are going to end up surrounded and outnumbered by Them aren't they?

bit of a D'oh! moment there?

Yup. Sometimes the brain, she is slow...

Only Read Dredd so far that's a nice beginning, anyone know how long this Epic is for?

I spoke to Mr Wagner and Mr Ezquerra at NICE in Bedford last week and was told that Block Judge was a ten parter. It is great to see them teaming for Dredd once again isn't it?

Sorry. Meant to say that is a tweet from Mr Flint himself. I presume he is referring to the eagle on Gerhart's left shoulder which I hadn't noticed until he pointed it out.

Don't the SJS normally have their eagle on the oposite shoulder to regular judges? The error I spotted was the fourth panel on page one where Gerhart's got the regular eagle on the right shoulder then the SJS style left shoulder eagle in the next panel.

Yeah, I thought exactly the same.

Ah, I never made the "Terran Trade Authority" connection to the book I remember. It was a long time ago and I just remember it as a cool book full of spaceships. I'll have a look around the net for images now though.

Now, I don't have any images to share but this thread has raised a memory. When I was a kid I had a book called Spacecraft: 2000 to 2100 by Stuart Crowley.
The book came out in the late 70's  and was full of amazing spaceship art. I remember it fondly. I'm pretty sure that some of the ships featured have appeared in the pages of 2000AD; at the very least I remember several ships from the book appearing in the original run of the VCs - bothe Geek ships and the VC's own vehicle IIRC - and I'm pretty sure there were some others. Is anyone else familiar with this book?

Yeah, sorry I should have mentioned that the NBK one was called a time trap. Thanks for that example from Rage, that's exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. I remember it now you've mentioned it. Brilliant, cheers.

Any others?

General / Strontium Dog question for the groupmind
21 September, 2013, 10:12:48 PM
Help me group mind, you're my only hope...

I'm writing a thing on the use of time travel in Strontium Dog and I'm having real difficulty. I'm looking for examples of Alpha using his time bombs for something other than killing the bad guys. I know he uses one to trap NBK in a time loop and one was used to transport Alpha and Blood Moon back in time, but are there examples of the device being used in any other ways.

I have a niggle that he once used a bomb to escape from a building and ended up zapping himself to the other side of town or something, but I've been scouring through my progs and can't find anything. Did this happen and if so what story was it used in, or am I making it up? And are there any other novel uses of the device?

Help me...
