09 April, 2014, 04:31:56 PM
Lew Stringer's comics blog has some scans up of art by Bolland, McMahon, Gibbons, O'Neill and others in the Monday 7th April entry.

http://lewstringer.blogspot.com.au/

I haven't seen the Bolland Dredd before and thought it was all worth worth pointing out.

I thought I'd start a thread for this now, seeing as they don't always get spotted in the Forthcoming Thrills thread.

Is there already a thread for Mr. Ortiz here anywhere?

My thanks go to Mr. Ortiz, and my thoughts to his family.

General / Our man in Hondo (me, not the story)
24 November, 2013, 04:39:25 AM
Where's the 'globetrotting Squaxx in 2000AD t-shirts' thread when you want it?

I had to attend a meeting in Japan this past week.  There's no direct flight from Sydney to Osaka any more so went via Hong Kong.  There wasn't really any downtime so I couldn't go sightseeing in a Tooth t-shirt, but here's a few spur-of-the-moment snaps with my Planet Replicas keyring.

A view of Osaka from the office.  I always think "our man in Hondo" when I'm here.

A bit more of Osaka.  I'll get on that Ferris wheel one day.

Last day - finally a meal I could really get my teeth into! ; )

Hopefully I'm not duplicating old news, but there's a Simpsonised Dredd on the Springfield Punx website:

General / Educating Marmalade (prog sighting)
19 September, 2013, 03:07:50 PM
I was getting a retro TV fix this evening watching the recent Network release of "Educating Marmalade" (1982).  Very pleased and surprised to see the prog turn up on my screen:

The mother is played by Lynda La Plante, who gained fame the following year for "Widows".  Marmalade was played by the late Charlotte Coleman.

It's prog 271 (3rd July 1982).  The episode, "The Convent of the Blessed Limit", was screened 1st November 1982.

Being a bad girl, Marmalade Atkins does not treat her prog very well.

General / "Flesh" Lego (sort of)
14 January, 2012, 11:45:54 PM
We haven't had a Lego thread for a while...

I see Lego have a "Dino" range coming out about mid year - a range of sets with dinosaurs & trappers.  Have a look at this set for example - I love the third picture at the bottom in particular!

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=5886-1

More of the range here:
http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Dino

Lego are also revamping their Batman range and bringing sets out including Superman & Wonder Woman.  They also have sets with Hulk, Iron Man, Wolverine, Spiderman etc on the way.  With deals with both DC and Marvel on foot, I wish they would make an approach to Rebellion!

Announcements / Judge Dredd vs Zombies (iPhone app)
02 December, 2011, 01:55:04 AM
Is there an announcement thread for this?

New Dredd game, more zombies again!

There's an image of Dredd at the end of the hi-res trailer that has been flipped - so his badge is on the wrong side and (more importantly) his name is written backwards.
