Suggestions / Special Covers for Subscribers
17 March, 2008, 04:08:20 PM
I used to subscribe to SFX and if you did you got the cover without the extra blurb that is splattered on the newsagent copies...which looked great on some of their covers.

What would people think of having something similar on the Prog and the Meg for subcribers only?  Would you miss the Tag-line too much?

Off Topic / IVF Debate in today's news
12 March, 2008, 01:47:25 PM
Should avoid this like the plague, but...

Any views on the debate that's been in some of the news today regarding the screening on IVF treatment that means that (for example) deaf parents would not be allowed to chose to have a deaf child?

Off Topic / Does anyone own an arcade machine?

Anyone got an arcade machine?  I'm thinking about a JAMMA type one (or a MAME enabled cabinet).

If so, what are they like for maintenance, etc?

Off Topic / your body's effect on radio reception
08 February, 2008, 01:47:42 PM
Does anyone know (exactly) why it is that the body can effect the reception of a radio (for the better) when it is in close contact, but not actually in contact with the radio?  For example, I have a small FM radio next to me that is tuned in to some crappy station with not so good reception, but if my hand goes within 3/4" (19 mm) or so, the reception is perfect (music is still crappy though).

I'm clearly aiding the aerial somehow, but how?  Is it the body's 'magnetic field' or some such thing that has this effect?

Help! / DVD (etc) to iPod convertor
19 October, 2007, 11:40:21 PM
Hi Hive-Mind,

Not looking to pirate anything, but would like to have an 'easy' way to put (my) DVDs on to the iPod.  Previously I used a combo of DVD Fab and SUPER etc. (cause they were free), but would like to put some of the newer DVDs (and old ones) on there without the messing around...simple drag an drop would be nice...

Found Cucusoft recommended, would like to know if you've used it or would recommend anything else.  Something that you know would handle Spider-Man 3 would be nice!!

Off Topic / Possible Pyramid scheme
10 August, 2007, 11:55:15 AM
A mate is talking about something whereby you sign up to it (via him for example) and then the company finds you the best deal for gas, Electric, etc., etc.  He then gets a commission every month (or something like this), but he also sells the ability to sell this wonderful deal, so that you can then offer it on to someone else too and get a share of the benefits just like the person who sold it to you.

Now, I don't know the name of the company yet, but has anyone else come across this?  Is it a new form of a pyramid scheme (cause it sure sounds like it to me)?

Unfortunately I don't have all the details yet, as this is from a 3rd party.  My mate is coming over in a weeks time for a get together, and I'm sure he will want to discuss this as well, so I just want to be prepared.

Thanks Hive Mind for your help.

Games / Resident Evil 4
20 July, 2007, 02:32:56 PM
I'm loving this a fair bit on the Wii, but would like some general advice regarding treasures.  Bascially, what is the best thing to do with these; do I hold on to them or sell them to the gun-dealer to get better weapons?  I worked out that some need to be combined to increase their value, so I'm holding on to these, but what about the rest and what about these when they are combined.

Thanks,
WoD.

Games / Trade-In Prices - Guidelines
27 June, 2007, 07:23:50 PM
Hi All,

Does anyone have an idea of how you can find a guide to trade-in prices for Game or Gamestations, etc.?  I don't really want to carry a big bag of games down to the shop and then find I'll just get tuppence for them (although I'm not expecting much!!).

Off Topic / Breast Feeding...
13 June, 2007, 04:53:19 PM
I'm interested in the boards views on this.  With it being everywhere in the press yesterday and on every radio phone in, I was amazed by some people's opinions.

For what it's worth, I'm pro it, but in a very 'why are we bothering to discuss this' way.  Perhaps I never understood that some people were very anti-breast feeding, and that some mothers are made to feel uncomfortable.  Crazy really when we should consider this as a natural and everyday thing as 'breathing'.
