Hi, I'm selling a complete collection of StarLord, the comic that first introduced characters like Strontium Dog as well as Ro Jaws and Hammerstein and eventually merged with 2000AD after 22 issues.

The comics are all bagged and in excellent condition and have been kept in a box together and not subject to excessive light. 1 & 2 no longer include the free gifts but 3 does include the unmolested free gift inside. The set also includes the Summer Special (the only one published I believe). 1-15 & 18 have no newsagent marks on them but from 16 to 22, there are marks. Basically as follows:

16 - Name written neatly in pen on the back cover (bottom right hand corner)
17 - As above
19 - Name written neatly in pen on the front cover (top left hand corner)
20 - As above
21 - As above
22 - As above

PM me if you'd like to make me an offer for the set or if nobody's interested in the set I'll split, I'm open to offers and happy to negotiate on a price.

Here's another one from my vault, the 1982 Judge Dredd board game. This one is in superb condition and apart from a few slight rubs at the corners of the box is mint, even including the tissue paper that originally protected the board itself, here are some piccies:

Any reasonable offers will be considered, please factor in around £6 for registered postage. :)

Classifieds / FS 2000AD Dan Dare poster magazine
24 June, 2013, 10:26:06 PM
Hi guys

In addition to my selling my 2000AD collection I have a number of other 2000AD publications I'm looking to sell.

Here's a very early one, the Dan Dare poster magazine published IIRC in 1977. I haven't seen many of these on the market so could be a bit of a rarity (but I'm sure someone will tell me if it's not ;) ).

Anyway here's a photo, feel free to make me an offer:

Hey guys

Due to space restrictions I am looking to sell my collection of early 2000ADs if anyone is interested, there's a heap of early annuals and specials too.

I need to check exactly what I have (I think it up to around Prog 700) but for starters is anyone interested in very early Progs, in particular Prog 1 complete with it's space spinner? All the early progs I have are bagged and have been kept in comic boxes away from sunlight so they are generally in excellent condition with a few exceptions. If anyone has any wants just let me know and I'll check condition for you.

I can post up details and photos if there's any interest otherwise I'll go down the eBay route but would rather offer first shout to the enthusiasts here :)

OFF Topic:
Oh and also if anyone is into other comics I have Eagle (the original 1950s comic) volume 1 (including issue 1) and some Eagle annuals (2 and 3 and the Dan Dare Space Book) that are going to have to go too.

Off Topic / Whoop whoop I can post here :D

I can post in the off topic section of the forum lol .... can't in most of the on topic forums but hey ho glass half full and all that :D

I like other things apart from 2000AD of course but hey this a 2KAD forum so I have that head on right now ... telly, I like telly: Doctor Who, Game of Thrones high up the list at the moment but I love classic TV too (The Professionals comes to mind immediately there for some reason but hey loads more drama and genre stuff as well as old comedy like Steptoe, Dad's Army, Fawlty Towers and more are up there too).

Comics, I like comics; never been a great superhero fan but I can cope with them sometimes, adaptation wise really enjoyed the Thor movie I have to say and the other Marvel films are fun but my real love is old British comics rather than the US stuff. Love the original Eagle Dan Dare, too young to remember it originally but have read many of the reprints and buy Spaceship Away which is a great effort printing original style DD strips (and even interviewed Pat Mills a few issues back). Thing is though I grew up in the 70s so the comics of that era are my first love I guess, everything from funnies to the action based stuff, oh yeah I bought Action back in the day!

Movies, well I've mentioned them above but I love a good movie adaptation or otherwise and I see Promethius has a bit of a thread going! My daughter is a mahoosive Hunger Games fan, not sure I get it myself was an okay movie but it seems I'm not in the teenage target audience lol. Love classic film everything from genre to gritty drama to war and all that genre stuff too.

Books, yeah I read books mostly related to my other loves though (just finished Thrill Power Overload) and read quite a few related to skiing (I do that professionally but it is a love for sure) and Minis (as in the classic car rather than the skirt ... although there's a thought!) but not so much fiction at the moment - any recommendations?

Yup, I can do other stuff apart from 2000AD ... if I'm forced to :o ;)

Welcome to the board / Hello .... and WOW!
21 June, 2012, 01:41:12 PM
WOW, just watched the Dredd trailer - bought tears to my eyes quite literally, tears of pleasure .... WOW!

Anyway, hi all, I'm new here so I thought I'd better introduce myself here, can't post in the film thread anyway yet as far as I can see but have to admit that was my first inclination :D

I've just got back into reading 2000AD after a long absence and boy it seems to be going through rather a renaissance right now which is wonderful to see :D

I first read the comic way back in Feb '77 with Prog 1, in fact I remember the first time I noticed 2000AD was when I saw the 4 page preview advert published in (IIRC) Battle around a week before that first Prog appeared - anyone remember that? I still have that preview ad (cut out and kept safe along with that first Prog (complete with space spinner) as well as the first 700 odd issues so can say I read the comic pretty religiously for many years after. Life and my perception (rightly or wrongly) that that comic 'wasn't what it used to be' led me to loose interest a bit later on and by the mid 700s I kinda fell out of readership. Not sure how unusual that is but I get the feeling there's a general consensus that was a period when the comic wasn't all it was (or is now), would that be fair comment?

Since then I guess you could say I was an occasional reader, picking up the odd issue now and then but life continued to get in the way and I never really latched back in although I do remember thinking it had improved vastly around about the time Rebellion took over and now here I am and not only me but my kids who are 9 and 12 and are reading back Progs as a result of seeing the comic. My youngest is devouring the early stuff, having got into comics (not unlike me) via The Beano and Doctor Who, and my oldest reading more recent stuff like Age of the Wolf (loves the art and the female lead who she tells me is as good with a bow as Katniss in The Hunger Games, another passion of hers).

So hey, perhaps a new generation as well which can only be good but I have a few questions for all you 2000AD experts (apologies if some of these have been asked a million times before, it's a noob thing!):

What have I missed that's worth picking up and reading? I've already read Origins and am currently devouring back issues from around 1675 onwards but what's worth reading before that and what's worth giving a miss - I deffo need to read Nikolai Dante from the start but what else?

As for the kids, I pretty much know the score up to the 700s but what should I steer them off if they're delving into stuff after that point and equally what stuff is worth pointing them towards? The youngest is well into all the early action (and blood) stuff, loves Dredd and is currently carrying around a Dennis the Menace pop gun he reckons looks like Dredds Lawgiver lol and the oldest is into great art (loves the contrasting art she sees in each Prog) and powerful stories (as well as female heroes with bows).

With regards the forum how many posts do you need to make before you can post in any thread/area of the forum?

As a general question, what gives in the world of 2000AD generally, the comic seems to be in rude health right now, would people agree?

Hey, I've written enough so I'll leave it there but once again hi and good to be here and to read the forum and WOW, think I'll go back and watch that trailer again! :D
