Prog / Re: Prog 2126 - Earth under siege!
07 April, 2019, 05:58:23 PM

not too bad an issue ,
new Judge Dredd Story ( Part 1 ) THE LONG GAME written by Michael Carroll
( who always writes a good yarn ) which was pretty good and promises a decent
read in the next few weeks
Kingmaker was enjoyable ( a highlight of the Prog ) , whilst Survival Geeks was okay -
Max Normal was interesting - with a reveal of Max's childhood past
while Scarlet Traces picks up from the last part , with Earth about to be attacked by Mars Fleet

and I agree Max Normal was a lot better this week

I really enjoyed the Prog ( which arrived despite the snow in the Scottish Borders )
Highlight for me was Kingmaker , best thing I can say is that it feels its ' never been away ' or
that it over 2 years since the last episode - very good art and storytelling .
Grey Area was good , single Dredd episode was fabulous , and
Survival Geeks was a good laugh
( if it keeps Gordon Rennie happy in 2000ad -
so he can write more episodes of Jaegir
then its all good )
overall 8/10 no weak areas .

really enjoyed this week's prog
highlight was the end of Jaegir - with the next series going to be called
Valkryie -
with Dredd a close second , Skip Tracer was okay along with the end of 3riller Tooth and Nail
( with a nod to ' The Usual Suspects ' Film ) Grey Area was very nice - and I look forward
to the next part of KingMaker
( although having to wait 2 years - is a bit too long to wait since the last series - in my opinion )

I liked the Prog , the highlights were Dredd , and above all , Jaegir , which was
really wonderfully set up for the finale , next week

I hope the next instalment of Jaegir is not too long ( if tharg reads this - please can you commission
more of Jaegir , which is a majot factor in me subscribing to the Prog since 2012 ... :)
and above all , a new epidode of Johnny Alpha please > ? >

I adored the superb Jaegir episode , its really impressive stuff from Gordon Rennie and Simon Coleby

Dredd is really good and building the tension , Skip Tracer was good ( getting better after all ) ,
the new 3Riller was okay and Grey Area was really good - I am pleased STRONTIUM DOG is getting some attention in the Tharg's Art Competition -

over all 9/10 Prog for me , and can't wait for the next Part of Jaegir

agreed Dredd when written by Wagner is superb  , and Grey Area was pretty great as well
I also liked the Future Shock , and Skip Tracer was not too bad , but for me , the highlight is still Jaegir
with the revelation of why Atalia was allowed to enter the equivalent of the
1944 Korsun / Cherkassy Pocket was breathtaking , the art by Simon Coleby is just superb - and Gordon Rennie is having a blast writing this |Future War story ,
I just wish we could have a Strontium Dog Story in the near future , but I guess
the Fanzine DogBreath is the only outlet for me .

Prog / Prog 2118 - Enemies of the State
09 February, 2019, 03:46:09 PM
A Wonderful read today , Prog 2118 , and all the stories have been actually very good -
Dredd - the new Chief Judge Logan makes his mark - and it riles Dredd
Brink - wonderful - sadly the end of the present arc
Skip Tracer - actually pretty decent
Grey Area - very good first part of the new Story - well worth reading
Jaegir - as usual , for me , the best was saved till Last , Gordon Rennie
continues to write with excellence and knowledge of Military History ( loved the ' Stavka ' mention )
while Simon Coleby's art continues to be terrific - and adds to the stories enjoyment

overall - a damn good read ( 9/10 ) for me

For me , the Prog Cover was good - and it does the job intended -
its makes you aware that my favourite strip ( apart from Strontium Dog ) is back , Jaegir

For my money a terrific prog, with Skip Tracer doing okay , not the highlight of the Prog
but still readable , Brink , as ever , just wonderful , the 3Rillers not too bad and
Dredd was good - with more to come , in the next Prog ... Colin Macneil's artwork was good .

- however , the total thrill power overload that is Jaegir continues with yet more
great art-work and nice story telling -
I really enjoyed reading this last night , and the new series which has just started in 2000ad -
can only get better !

Megazine / 397 - Love Bites!
20 June, 2018, 08:45:34 AM

I just Read the last issue of Dredd Megazine 397
(this id due to the fact -  I unsubscribed this month - after being a subscriber since 2012 )
It was just okay , but reminded me , that I am better to save money , and keep subscribing to the 2000ad weekly Comic than bother with the Megazine - as its been pretty dull for a while , with only Lawless being that great - sad , but true .

Prog / Prog 2080 -PSI no More
05 May, 2018, 05:08:08 PM
I enjoyed this week's Prog , especially STRONTIUM DOG and SINISTER DEXTER , and the FUTURE SHOCK was good as well .
I regret to say , I am very pleased that PSI ANDERSON by Emma Beeby is finished , as I struggled the whole way through the story to really understand it ( and I appear not to be the only one here ) -
overall , an enjoyable read for the latest Prog
- Note to Matt Smith - please commission more STRONTIUM DOG from John Wagner ASAP -
its the highlight of the Prog !!

Prog / Re: Prog 2074:Psiren Song

I also really enjoyed the whole comic , agree , there was not one weak story -

I am especially enjoying the long-awaited new series by Gordon Rennie - Jaegir
I have been a huge , huge fan of it since it started in 2014 , I thought the idea that Nu-Earth
was the equivalent of getting sent to the Eastern Front - excellent
( and we learned the surname of Reesa ) in the second part In the Realm Of Pyrrhus

I am also delighted we have finally a new STRONTIUM DOG , as I adore that character
( I read the first issue he was introduced , in Starlord , back in 1978 - so I have a personal connection )

2000ad is really excellent this week - looking forward to next weeks issue
