That Thistlebone page is excellent and having seen it in the flesh it looks even better - a photo just doesn't do the colours justice.
I love the dog, the expressions are gold. And proper pint glasses!

Quote from: Colin YNWA on 24 May, 2024, 11:16:00 AMI will defo be saying hello and fully expect to be given triffle when I do!

I fear your trifle expectation may exceed a barren trifle reality but don't give up hope.

Would love to get a sketch from you PJ!

I'll be doing my packing shortly before heading down nice an early tomorrow to avoid Bristol traffic, unlike last year...

For anyone that would like to say hi: although a lot of the attendees will be bearded middle-aged men and I fit that demographic, I've got long hair and a massive beard, and I'll be wearing a shirt with the sleeves off, thrash metal style. I've got a Cobra tattoo on my upper arm (Action Force / GI Joe style Cobra, not a legit cobra) -b basically I look like a homeless guy.

I'd love to meet and chat and maybe even have a beer with you guys on here so please do say hello!

Blacksad is brilliant! Amazon has the second part of They All Fall Down listed as available later this year.

A spirited and passionate defense of SinDex Colin and a very enjoyable read!

I'm afraid nothing you've said has convinced me that the story is way past its sell-by date and I think sometimes this detracts from how good it was it its heyday. In fairness the Azimuth shift looks like a blinder right now, but I'm worried it'll just reset back to something close to the old status quo, when its probably strong enough to move on without Finny or Rey who by now are the weakest points of the strip imo.

Its feels off though to be griping after your love letter to an all time classic. When it works the combination of stupid names, crazy happenings and ultra violence is absolutely mint and the fact that the strip can tell so many different types of stories, from whacky one-offs to serious lengthy tales and everything in between speaks highly of how its strength was in its flexibility.

I'm also surprised there's no omnibus collection. I often feel SinDex is best read in small chunks but I'd totally buy a bunch of the collected editions.

It's emblematic that he made that announcement in the pouring rain.. what a clown.
"Things Can Only Get Better" indeed.

No sign of mine yet, but I pre-ordered it along with vol 2 of The Sarge, so no idea if they'll be posting them both in September or not. I'd have expected a shipping email if it was en route.

As a not-regular Meg reader, I think this makes the Meg a much more attractive prospect than bogus IDW Dredd or a horrible Hookjaw reprint.

Quote from: Barrington Boots on 20 May, 2024, 09:37:14 AMInteresting read this. Swamp Thing is something I've often thought about checking out. I've only ever read a single issue - a girl gave it to me as a gift and given I'm not hugely into superhero stuff I didn't want to taint it by reading around it and finding I didn't care for the series, if that makes sense - I rather like it in isolation.

Interesting what issue if I may be so bold. When I've been asked in the past I've always recommended issue 43. Not that its representative of the run as a whole - as I've said that would be hard to do - just cos its my fav!

Issue 55 is the issue in question....
Because I've not read any more of the run, I've literally no idea if it is representative or not. Read in isolation its quite trippy and beautiful.

I'd hoped to have this framed and done ahead of Lawless but my framing dude has had to have his toe amputated(!!!) - but here's a magnificent Simon Fraser Hershey page with a glorious cityscape, fed up chief judges and my name on a badge to boot. The colour looks great IRL and this will look badass on my wall, eventually.

I also like this Armitage better than the current Armitage. Nice work!
