Quote from: moly on 17 April, 2024, 11:46:58 AMJust realised it's over 10 years since the judge dredd mega collection started to be released no wonder I'm running out of space

Not quiet as The Mega Collection was January 2015 (though I suppose it might have been test-run in 2014).

And yes, as someone who bought that collection as well as Transformers and Batman, my shelves are all but spent.

I'm totally out of room, I got the JD collection, 2000ad collection (upto 140, now just cherry picking), Batman collection ( Inc. all specials + extras). That's on top of the rebellion trade pbks collected, all the JD, SD, RT, ND and Slaine sets, single editions and Battle Picture Weekly related editions.

I suppose I could sell off the rebellion trades as they're probably duplicated but I do like them still.

Towers, did you get all the Batman sub specials?

Quote from: Barrington Boots on 12 April, 2024, 09:55:21 AMI watched the first episode last night, it nails the aesthetic of the games perfectly - the look, the atmosphere, all spot on. Really looking forward to seeing the rest.

Yes also watched 1st episode last night with daughter for our weekly Sunday teatime watch instead of a film. I've played the games and they were my fav games so know it well and all seems great so far.
Downside is its gonna take me 8 weeks to watch the whole series with her.

I see the release date for this has been pushed back a month. Anyone know why? Was hoping to get this for my birthday at the end of the month.

Quote from: Angry Vince on 16 March, 2024, 06:08:05 PMLoving the new series of Shogun - amazing sets, great writing and more Toranaga-focused.

I'm looking forward to watching this after I've finished The Gentlemen. I fondly remember watching the 1970's Shogun series with Richard Chamberlain as a youngster. I picked up the dvd boxset of this a couple of years ago for a nostalgia trip but never got round to watching it. Now I'm torn with what to do, whether to rewatch the original first then the new one or just watch the new one. Would it spoil my enjoyment of the new one? Would the extra wait be agony or knowing there is a new spoil the enjoyment of the original?

I agree with the post about Masters of the Air, it is difficult to follow at first with all the characters we're introduced to but as the episodes go on, we lose a lot and I think this was the point to show how many losses were suffered and all flight crew were at risk.

Not the best of covers to entice new readers, is it?

Not the best image of JD and he looks awkward/uncomfortable? Shoulder pad and Eagle way too big.
Rogue Trooper, yes what are those things hanging from his helmet meant to be? Straps? but his chin strap is already done up, so why would the helmet need more straps if that's what they're supposed to be. The announcement of a complete story on the cover seems unnecessary. What is so great about this that it had to be on the cover? Wouldn't it have been better to say how many strips are in the comic?

Maybe as its for new readers, perhaps put the story name under the character circle pics?

The whole cover looks rushed or unfinished or not much thought gone into it.

Im very disappointed with this cover for a relaunch issue.

I dont normally feel the need to critise 2k and don't like doing so, but this cover....

So I've just been listening to your podcast ep 275 on progs 836 - 839 and hearing you guys talk about Firekind and how much you both liked it. Now I've had the 2000ad Ultimate collection of Firekind for quite a while now and I've always been passing it over as i don't really remember it and so I didn't think it would be worth reading but after hearing you guys rave about it, it's going next on my list

Quote from: broodblik on 22 February, 2024, 05:18:58 AMYip for me too. The middle part of the season felt like it spinning its wheels. The last episode linked everything and the whole thing made a lot of sense (you started feeling lost in the middle episodes it felt to surreal almost mystical)

Is just me that thinks alot of these 8 episode TV series seem a bit dragged out and could be better if they were only half as long? (Not singling this one out in particular as I haven't watched it yet)

Quote from: Colin YNWA on 22 February, 2024, 07:54:08 AMOhhh some interesting things I'd like to hear more about there Doomlord66.

I think I'm about to start on 100 Bullets as someone very kindly gave me a copy of the first trade at a mart I sell at on Saturday and looking forward to digging into that. I gave them the first volume of Stray Bullets - Sunshine and Roses as I had it for sale so would love to hear how you get on with Stray Bullets.

Stray Bullets is partly a reread as I bought it when it came out back in 1995. I had been mainly reading Marvel and DC comics and wanted to try something completely different. I'd heard some good things about it. It was a bold choice at that time, no superheroes, no colour etc. But I found myself enjoying the stories and was hooked because it was so different to other stuff I was reading. I only got the first 20 or so issues back then which I've sold at some point so now looking forward to reading all the issues of the first series plus Killers and Sunshine & Roses

Quote from: Doomlord66 on 21 February, 2024, 11:19:02 PMIce Cream Man v1 - v8

Is this any good? Its on my radar.

I saw a review or something somewhere and it peaked my interest so thought I'd give it a go and really enjoyed it. Graphic novel back blurb reads -
Chocolate, vanilla, existential horror, drug addiction, musical fantasy...there's a flavor for everyone's misery. ICE CREAM MAN is a genre-defying comic book series featuring disparate 'one-shot' tales of sorrow, wonder, and redemption. Each installment features its own cast of strange characters, dealing with their own special sundae of suffering. And on the periphery of all of them, like the twinkly music of his colorful truck, is the Ice Cream Man-a weaver of stories, a purveyor of sweet treats. Friend. Foe. God. Demon. The man who, with a snap of his fingers-lickety split-can change the course of your life forever.

Gulp! Did you enjoy it?

Yes I did. I'm quite into reading stories with different takes on superheroes atm.
This one is certainly different, it's crazy, it's mad and it's funny, even the take on the old adverts!
I saw an advert for Second Coming which looks interesting so I'm going to take a look at that.
