And maybe you could promise that an important character in an upcoming story is to be called Norton Canes.
That'll make sure your vote will be counted.
That's funny, because by an amazing coincidence there actually is a Judge Norton Canes in the story I'm currently writing! What are the odds of that happening, eh?

I suspect I might not be unbiased
Just say that your vote for Proteus Vex is based purely on the quality of the art and the lettering. That should keep everything convincingly above board.
That is tempting...!

I am strongly tempted to vote... but I probably shouldn't because I suspect I might not be unbiased!

Yes Carlos Esquerra drew it.Dont remember exactly which annual it was but it must be early 80's if I can remember it.Great news in that spolered tag.Well if you're an old school dude like me.

It was in the Judge Dredd Annual 1984, as far as I recall. A classic strip!

Newcastle is in Natal

Reckon that must be a Labour seat.

... There's a Newcastle down the road from me in the rural outskirts of Dublin...

Yeah, there's a Newcastle down the road from me, too. Could be the same one, but down a different road...!

In Irish the name is "An Caisleán Nua" which mean "The New Castle." One of the easier translations of Irish place-names.

Always wanted to go, but haven't yet managed to do so! Highly unlikely that I'll be there this year, either... :(

I've got a pair of old overalls he can have.  That'll make him the overall prize winner.

Excellent pun -- you are my hero!

I'll let folks into a secret.

If it had been a tie - and at one point I thought it was. I was actually going to vote for Strontium Dog as the tie breaker. Not cos I prefer it, far from it. Rather I'd vote on behalf of Bolt01 who alas isn't here to vote and seemed like a nice way to think back to that lovely man.

Almost sad it didn't happen now! Still sad we don't have him around.

That's a lovely sentiment, Colin -- Dave would have been suitably embarrassed!

You've done an excellent job running this Tourney and you certainly deserve a reward for all your hard work! Everyone should club together and donate a prize! I've got half a pop-tart and some barely-wonky carpet off-cuts with your name on them -- just send me your address and they'll be on the way to you before the month is out!

Strontium Dog!

My vote's for Dante. It's eminently re-readable, cohesive, imaginative and enthralling. (But I did enjoy the first few series of Nemesis before it got confusingly mashed together with The ABC Warriors and Satanus to form the Pattiverse and all the fun was squeezed out of it.)

Well 3 of the 4 I'd be very happy with ad overall winner  - I'm not saying which one I don't care for 😏

I was about to say the same thing! Three good, one massively overrated.

Once this is all over, it'd be interesting to run it again from scratch: different pairings in the early stages might make for a very different overall result! (Not saying we should do that, just that it'd be interesting!)

It is, but the old one explains it better
Ah... good catch, Richard: I hadn't realised that the new version omits a paragraph from the original! I've now updated it!

You missed out the fun bit!

Quote from: wikipediaValiant limped on for a few months, merging with Vulcan on 10 April 1976, but finally merged with Battle Picture Weekly on 23 October, signaling the end of Valiant.

8 March 1975 to 23 January 1988, when it merged with the new incarnation of Eagle

Effectively meaning that old Eagle merged with new Eagle (through all those other mergers).

If you think that's fun, wait til you see this:

Ah, that's the old version! This one is much more comprehensive: https://michaelowencarroll.wordpress.com/2020/04/14/the-eagle-timeline/
