Well I just tried it on for the first time since I bought it and had a go at a couple of photos. Now my face smells weird too.

Worth considering that the Dan Dare Corporation might have ownership of Doomlord as IP in addition to the printed material/licensing. So whilst they won't have any ownership of the photographic representation of the mask, costume, hands or ring, they might have it of the name.

I saw this on downthetubes a while ago and it was an instant back. It's a shame that the higher pledges are all need-a-photo ones otherwise I'd have gone for one of those. I don't really want to see my ugly mug peering out at me when I read it, and neither I suspect, does anyone else.

As it was I just went for a lower one with a bit of bonus extra support.

I did briefly consider going for a photo one and sending in photos of me wearing my Doomlord mask, but I thought that might be taking a joke too far and be too much like time wasting :)
Also, the mask smells weird.
Would be cool though to see a sneaky image of Doomlord as one of the victims of Zarmdov :D

I got my four issues for free this morning too. I got issues #1 & #2 - which is good, but also, somewhat strangely, #23 (with poster) and #29. Odd combination.

I noticed that too. It's not disastrous but looks like the lettering was done on (or post-applied to) a downsampled preview copy of the page. I won't pretend to know the process.

Received mine this morning and spent the next couple of hours giving it a read. On the whole, very good! Standout story for me: Decomposition Jones. Hilarious, y'dig?

Some stories suffer in a couple of places from too much brevity/editing forcing the reader to make narrative leaps and assumptions in order to work out "what just happened"; most noticeably in the Thirteenth Floor and Black Max. A common gripe I have with a lot of strips, especially in recent years. Add a fill-in panel here and there to join things together and it would be great.

Also a couple of typos in the (typeset) text for Bookworm.

Great art throughout though. Especially liked the scratchy b&w of Black Beth.
Looking forward to next year!

I missed the Fleetway Files since it appeared when I had literally no money & no job for over six months. I also missed that Rebellion had bought up the Fleetway archives :/

I'd love to see a collected Kitten Magee; easily the strongest and most consistent storyline begun in Wildcat. Artwork (largely) by Jose Ortiz? Yes please.

There was Loner, but I didn't care for that so much.

Copy arrived yesterday, picked it up today. Looks fantastic, of course. Well worth £9 of anybody's loot. Time to settle down and have a good read with a nice cuppa.

Books & Comics / Re: Eagle Photostories

I would love to see the Doomlord photostories in print. I'm certain that I will, and here's my logic:
Years ago I scanned all my Eagles (which was the entire run) with a view to compiling (maybe even printing) various stories for my own reading pleasure. I began cleaning up the scans of selected stories - I started with Doomlord (first drawn strip) because Doomlord was ace and the drawn ones seemed easiest. And then Hibernia released a reprint. Hmm. So, after the chagrin wore off, I bought it (of course), shrugged and moved on to my other favourite long-runner, the Thirteenth Floor. And then Hibernia released a reprint of that. Which I bought (of course). So I shrugged and moved on to my favourite short-run standalone story - I'm bound to get that done quickly enough, right? Of course, that was the House of Daemon. Bugger. Bought.
So, since I've now moved on to the Doomlord photostories, and my lack of luck has proved legendary, I am expecting Hibernia to release a reprint any moment now. I've finished all of the very first Doomlord and two-thirds of Doomlord II, so... c'mon guys... don't let me get right to the end before doing it.
