04 September, 2009, 02:49:59 PM
Amazon UK are now listing volume 2 for pre-order, with a release date of 8 Feb 2010.

Blurb reads:
"A new series exploring every aspect of Mega-City One, Dredd himself and the world in which he dispenses justice. In Volume 2: Lawbringers, August Hahn reveals the men and women who make the Justice Department work, the enforcers and undercover operatives that bring order to the chaos of Mega-City One."

The Rogue Trooper computer game does have some additional background information, but you have to un-lock it via achievements to read it.
... a fair bit of which appears in the "Making of Rogue Trooper" book, though in the rehashing it misses the opportunity to add anything new, e.g. a legend for all the different Nort icons shown on the maps at the start of each level.

Announcements / Re: 2000 AD Website Back and Badass!

Great work guys, but I hope the Shop site is on your To Do list.  It's old and clunky and the revamped homepage only serves to highlight how basic it looks - especially the way extra tabs have been jammed in at the top every time new merchandise becomes available.

Also the on-line back-issue ordering is still under construction.  I now realise that the placeholder that says it is being worked on by a "crack team of web-bots" actual translates as "robots on crack" - they're certainly not doing working on anything in that area!  And to think Julian told me "We're just sorting out the encryption at the moment so it should be sorted soon" back in December!

Colouring book.

Go to some of the artists websites (like Cliff R's).  You can save and print out some cracking uncoloured art, all ready for me -- er, the kids -- to colour in!

I've just received notification from the Book Depository that they now have stock of Case Files 13 and the Best of Dredd, so both of those should start shipping shortly.

Yes, my wife and I made the outfit, for the Hi-Ex convention in Inverness in February. It was surprisingly easy to do, although a little time-consuming to cut up and draw on felt to make the pads, etc.
Weirdly, one of the hardest things was finding a black long-sleeved top for a small child. In the end I dyed a white one.

Great job - any chance of posting a bigger pic?

Hi Hotblack,

Approximately how many progs are there?  And what condition are they in?  I don't mind if they've seen a normal amount of wear and tear over their long life, but are there any big rips or parts cut out?

Mongoose have announced the release of the first Strontium Dog RPG (also based on the Traveller game system).
It will be released in October, in conjunction with the a Dredd RPG supplement "Democracy Falls", and a Strontium Dog supplement "Bounties and Warrants".

That's an interesting cover.  Johnny & Wulf look computer generated rather than drawn.  I wonder if that's a clue that there's a Stront game in the making.

Nice cover!  Is there a list of contents posted anywhere?  And is there any chance this will be for sale in the 2000AD shop later?

But Diamond never shipped the Red Razors trade to my neck of the woods!  ;)

Quote from: "Leigh Shepherd"Yes indeed - I think this question was asked in the progs back in the day, and Tharg gave a similar answer regarding their incredibly thick concrete smushing skin.

Yes, it's also mentioned in the Jonathan Clements Stront novel, "Ruthless".

The Stix brothers are one of the greatest of the SD baddies.  Love that whole mostly silent undercurrent of menace thing they've got going on.  The broad hats and minimal dialogue help reinforce the western feel of SD.  We are so, so lucky to have Carlos Ezquerra illustrating the stories for us (not to mention Wagner writing them) after all this time.  Pure gold.

As much as I would love this to be true, it seems odd to me that rather than this being a news item on the 2000AD and/or Big Finish websites, it's come in via the forums because someone's found it listed at an e-tailer, and not one like an Amazon at that.  It's also unusual that the release dates are all the 29th, because that makes two of them fall on a weekend.

I wish someone in the know would issue an official response to the thread, letting us know one way or the other.

On the other hand, the way the new Dredd movie was announced shows that lack of info on the 2000AD site doesn't mean anything!  If it is real, I'll certainly be one of the first in line.  I felt the series really began to hit its straps around "Pre-emptive Revenge".  They certainly improved once they got rid of rookie Amy Steele (with her overly-deliberate Look-I'm-Acting delivery), but 16 - 18 were the best to my mind and I'm sure the series would have got better had it been allowed to continue.  Of course, I enjoy the others, particularly the Jonathan Clements efforts, but those last few moreso.

Who knows, perhaps they've finally sold enough of the CDs to consider another go with a shorter production run.  They don't have to rebuild the sets and they may have had scripts in the pipeline from before.

So, any guesses what the stories may be about?
Stranger Than Truth: No idea. Dredd reads the script of the Stallone film?
Blood Will Tell: Bloodline stuff - a Fargo clone?
Rumspringa: It could be a metaphor but if taken literally then Dredd has to baby-sit some Amish teenagers come to MC1?
Double Zero: that's Dredd's psi-rating, isn't it?  So perhaps a Dark Judges tale?
