Meh, as someone who used to enjoy these it was not fun.

Cadet Dredd was poorly plotted. Obviously it's not who he thinks it is, so it HAS to be the only other character. Didn't think much of the art, either, especially the massive Lawmasters.

Lowborn High... Jovus another 20 pages that just drift on by with no effect in any way. Just average in every single way but worse for the page count.

Future Shocks is teh highlight for me, though the art screams 90s 2000ad mudfest. I liked the story, though.

Finally we get Renk, another average strip which is a basic crime story jazzed up with fantasy trappings.Could have lost two pages to zero effect.

When will Regened get a decent script editor?

Dredd is okay, but as I have said before Niemand is dragging shit out way more than he used to.

Portals etc is no longer read.

Hershey - glad it's finally over, this has been a long slog overall. Not bad, just average for me.

The Thrill3r was good, nice resolution too.

Dexter is waaaay better than when it was the confusing headfuck that was Azimuth.

DREDD - Niemand seems to be turning into a droid who stretches things out, and this needs more pace and movement forwards.

PORTALS ETC - Loved the basic idea but it's so lost me now. No shits given.

THREELERS - Going well, a nice finish to set up part 3. Great art.

HERSHEY - It's ok, but not essential for me. Nice to see Ol stoney face.

DEXTER - Rilly good episode.

Not sure where you're getting that from...? I don't do Twitter much these days, but that's the only place Ken has a social media presence and I haven't seen any griping about Tom on there...
Ah sorry, my mistake, it was Leonardo Manco he shat on

Dredd was solid, not really moving anything on much but the info dump with the daft arrest in the background was effective. Love Foster's art, even if "Ken" doesn't like him.

Portals doesn't do much for me, not totally sure what's going on, though the art is good

Void Runners was a good series, and not stretched too thin which always makes a nice change. The best use of Boo Cook so far.

Hershey is OK, feels like we've been following her for decades up there, I hope it actually finshes this time round. The art is basic but works well.

Azimuth was fun, so glad it turned out this way as I was ready to bail on it last week until the twist.

We;=ll, I was ready to give up on Azimuth, it was so up it's own arse and smug with the over abundance of punny shite.

Now I'm back in.

Swearing jar aside - I would say the key problem with the line is that it doesn't scan well.

Yes, that hits the nail on the head. I don't care about the language but it REALLY felt wrong when reading it. I get that Rogue was baiting than to lead them after him, but it feels out of place.

Anyway...

DREDD was very talky, but nothing compared to Azimuth. It seems (obvs I may be wrong) that the whole thing may be set within a virtual universe, which would explain the multiple references to real world stuff that's been slightly corrupted and the snow zone.

Void Runners has been a surprising joy, with brilliant use of Boo Cooks demented imagination. It was quite obvious the asshats were not going to let all that lovely Dust remain after just taking a little, but it's still enormous fun.

Durham Red has been reimagined very well and the strip was excellent. More please.

ROGUE is still the highlight. No one does war like Ennis and Paddy's art is perfect for it.

Quote from: IndigoPrime on 26 June, 2023, 02:57:50 PMI don't really want Dredd getting shot at and the speech balloon to be: "Shit! Fucking perps! I'll teach those bastards not to fuck with the law!"

Now I want to see that  :D

Well bloody hell, bugger me and all that bullsh1t!  :D

Obviously the swearing didn't bother me, and I'm sad there's only one more episode in the best Rogue Trooper I've ever read.

Dredd is pretty cool and I want to see what happens next.

Durham Red is another experiencing one of the best character stories, with gorgeous art too.

Void Runners is freaky and fun, and it seems to be the best use of Book Cook to date, as he's nailing it.

Azimuth... erm, not sure what's going on at all, bit it might grab me if it's not to clever for it's own good going on

DREDD was okay, it's not been a great use of the classic character but had it's moments.

SPECTOR does seem a bit old (even for when it was written) but it IS fun, and worth a read.

LAWLESS is always excellent, even if you just look at all the detail.

ANDERSON is really good, I didn't realise it was an IDW and that REALLY surprises me.

DREADNOUGHTS shines as usual. An excellent strip that is up there with Lawless.

The Johnny Red story is fantastic but I already own it. I don't read Death.

Quote from: Richard on 14 June, 2023, 03:00:47 PMSamantha Slade is definitely not the solution! That series was dire.

I agree with pretty much every other view that has been expressed today.

Doesn't mean a better written one wouldn't be good though. Young kid stops a murderous robot (luck and judgement and panic) she is after. She splits the reward and he asks to become her apprentice due to money troubles at home. Split between home life and robo hunting, and the two inevitable become intertwined.

Shit... I feel like writing it now. Doesn't even have to be her, any Robo Hunter will do.

Quote from: IndigoPrime on 14 June, 2023, 11:20:45 AMAnother curious thing that just struck me: Regened currently lacks fun. It's had it in the past, most notably with Pandora. But this issue felt quite dour throughout, with Finder & Keeper being furthest from that.

I wonder whether the format could do with a bit of shaking up. It seems that, for whatever reason, Regened has increasingly gone for fewer and longer strips. But perhaps there should be space for shorts too. Heck, even base one on an old property, if you like. Maybe Samantha Slade: Robo-Hunter, but as an anarchic and properly cartoony take, in which every strip takes place over a DPS.

A trainee Robo Hunter is a tailor made idea. Old Samantha getting an apprentice.

Just read it, and to be honest although I enjoyed the Regened at first the last few have been a bit dull.

Art highlight is Finder Keeper, very nice with great energy, and the new guy on Lowborn High does a good job, too.

Story wise it's a whole lotta meh. As has been mentioned, Cadet Judges would not be out unsupervised. What's the point of building a world just to have new writers piss all over it.

Lowborn High was okay at best, and theres ANOTHER twenty sodding pages in the next issue. Just give it it's own publication, Rebellion!

The FUture Shock was bizarre, partly because it very obviously wasn't produced for 2000AD and as such I'm amazed it was published as it's not good enough to justify looking so out of place. What happened at the end?I guess someone was "helping" the future. Yay.

Finder & Keeper looked great but was a very boring read. The whole premise of the strip is a shoehorned contrivance anyway.

How frikkin hard is it to get some decent writers in with original ideas? Set them ay school if you have to, but please, please make it more interesting.
