Thanks guys but my hope is that this thread would winkle out more model makers (amateurs like myself).

This board is full of talent from the short stories, Dread heads, sketches, Lego builds etc I can't believe I'm the only one trying his hand at model mashups!

Great work on the Lawless models.

I do like to convert miniatures, and nearly all of mine are Games Workshop kit (classic Warhammer and 40K). I hate the idea of two models in a squad being identical, so I do conversions to make them unique. I'm really bad at finding big blocks of painting time, though, so most of my work is either pre-undercoat or undercoated and gathering dust. Not the best things to show off - but I enjoy the process of Frankensteining the minis all the same.

I have discovered that over-used blu-tac sort of decomposes over time - becoming both yucky smelling and terribly difficult to remove from the minis.

I too have a stack of Dredd mini's to paint but doing the small batch for the Christmas tree was fun adding the baubles and Santa hats.
I have the same feeling about having too many figures the same it means that you have to keep things consistent so a wee tweak here and there adds interest.
I'd like to see your tweaks as I'm always looking to pinch others ideas 😁.

Thanks guys for the kind comments. It's good that others can appreciate the characters brought to a 3D format. In my house they are just looked upon as dust gathers 😂😂😂.

I'm quickly running out of space so have to think carefully when picking my next characters or I'll have to move some on or my boy out so I can get my own man cave.

I'd never bought a regular prog and I just caught up through trades until last year when my kids got me a years prog hard copy and the anticipation I had every week was something I didn't expect but enjoyed very much. However my limited shelf space means that I could not repeat this year on year. So with the 50% off I got last year I filled in a huge gap in my trades - all digital and I asked for a double digital sub from Santa.
I have no issues reading of my galaxy tab and I can take this on holiday. So I'd recommend going digital to anyone with limited space.

(I still squeeze in the occasional HC that tickles my fancy)

Happy New Year all Squaxx
Been working on my latest effort off and on since August. With the free time over Christmas and (requested) lockdown up here in Cal-Hab I've finally finished my version of "Kill-a-man" Jaroo. Who goes nicely with my Marshal Lawson as you will see below.

Jaroo was modelled from a toy "King Kong" bought off eBay and after a few adjustments to its stance, adding a waistcoat, hat, goggles and a shed load of hair around the fore arms and feet I was happy with the results. I again used my goto medium of milliput.

As usual I have posted pictures of Jaroo primed, base coated and finished. To give the scale of the two figures I have photographed them together and I think I have pretty much lucked out as they look good together. Sorry for all the pics.

I have 3 other projects slowly on the go so I should have them completed throughout the year.

Still waiting on fellow Squaxx to post their creations.

Arh Trooper McFad your continuing ingenuity is a wonder. That is fantastic.

Thanks Colin

My next figure will be dropping in the next few days (been at it off and on since August) just got the base to finish.

Well as us Squaxx in CalHab have been asked to limit our outside contacts I can consider myself "trapped" so as my kids got me a dart board for Christmas and Mrs McFad allowed me to set it up in the spare room/office instead of outside under the canopy where the old one is I whipped up my latest project.
I had a couple of bits of plywood lying about and used some of the old progs (low grade) which I had bought for a previous project. This time it was only Dredd and all coloured pages.

I still need to get a portable score board rather than a bit of paper. But chuffed with the result and I can practice in the warmth

A bottle of Bunnahabhain, Highland Park and Port Askaig all single malts but the only reading material I got was the complete Cam Kennedy's HC. So I'll have to purchase some more material in the new year to see me through those malts 😁

Oh and socks!

Perhaps. But despite everything, polling in Scotland hasn't substantially shifted. Also, even if 'leave' were to win there, the country would be deeply divided on the matter, which—as we've seen with Brexit—does't necessarily bode well.

I agree polling isn't at the tipping point yet and I would prefer an independence vote of 65% to bring most of the population along. (Can but dream).

I don't know how much the longing to be part of the EU will be in peoples mind.I know I'd prefer to be in the EU even if it meant a hard border between Scotland & England - and I love popping down south for visits. But only to deal with one border is easier than 27!

It's still a long way off and may never happen in my lifetime but it's inching closer?

i remember many, many conversations at the time about cameron being the 'worst prime minister ever'.
then may took the crown.
then bojo took it, easily, and transported us all into the ninth circle. he has even made jeremy hunt look like an empathetic statesman - in comparison.
i have no doubt that whoever comes next will be even worse. raab? gove? patel (and under her premiership, i wouldn't be at all surprised if the tyburn death circus made a comeback)? gloriana truss? sunak, the current favourite (although he will embarrass us less internationally, with his seeming to possess at least a veneer of respectability, we must never forget his culpability in being the architect of the eat out to help out massacre - and sources have it that it was sunak who prevented bojo from taking any of the measures at covid mitigation suggested by the country's leading virologists and epidemiologists this week)?
there is nothing good to follow, whenever the blond buffoon goes.
hohoho.

Any of those mentioned above can only mean a step closer to independence for Calhab 😁
