Just bought my first 2000ad book in a very long time judge dredd the complete oz im now working on other books, for my collection and atm know very little about what ive missed and what i can remember buying and liking in 1985 (8yrs old)

ive read a few since then but the 80's was were it all started for me so im searching and hunting

so any advice anyone can give me would be great so thanks for your help wake

Ive started buying from ebay and ive noticed www.2000adonline.com sell the graphic novels etc

But it doesnt appear to have complete sets available is there anywhere other than ebay/amazon that sells these books and is there a place were i can find out which books have been released?

I take it neither were republished then?

The ABC Warriors story could be the Alan Moore / Steve Dillon tale: Red Planet Blues from 2005. I thought it had been reprinted in B/W, but can't find it anywhere. So I must be mistaken.

Its not that one ( i think) the ABC Warriors story was from an annual in the mid to late 80's it had people/creatures hiding/living in what looked like an alien corn field (long thick spear looking growth) coming out of the ground

again my memory is lacking its been a long time i also remember a future shocks/tharg story about a man who lived in a futuristic house that wouldnt let him leave i believe he died of hunger with the home still telling him how much she loved him

I had 2/3 2000ad annuals in the eighties one of which had an a.b.c warriors story at the end of the book and i believe there may have been a slaine story in there were he had 3 eye's and had doubled in size???

very vague i know anyway if anyone can give me an idea of which one the above maybe and when the annuals started (which year)

And............did they ever reprint these storys into the graphic novels currently on sale

I remember The Longbow Hunters in Green Arrow was a big deal back then, and drew a lot of criticism for the writer/artist (Mike Grell) both from fans and from professionals within the industry. But the way the censorship lobby and other media attack comics always comes down to the same thing, which is that none of them understand comics, and they think comics are a special case that shouldn't be allowed to tackle the same adult themes that prose fiction, films and TV do, because comics are 'for kids'. Exactly the same kind of misunderstanding led to condemnation of South Park because cartoons are 'for kids' and therefore shouldn't use swearing or tackle themes of a violent or sexual nature, and should therefore not be made for an intended audience of adults. South Park has, of course, thrived on condemnation.

Unfortunatly misunderstanding something more often than not lead's to the PC brigade jumping on the band wagon for 5 minutes of fame.
Some times i suspect these people actually sit waiting to find something out of nothing just so they can complain right up to the point of complaining about blackboards and ba ba black sheep amongst many others, and that's before you get to the nonsense about what you can call the colour of somebodys skin on the off chance your some mad nazi killing people because you played to much grand theft auto whilst listening to black sabbath and reading comic's

And yet if you watch the simpsons whilst looking like a kids programme, there are some adult theme's and things that really only an adult would get............... clearly aimed at both markets

LOL when i was that age things like that wouldnt have bothered me, infact quite the opposite if i'd wanted to read comics with care bear type stories thats what i would have bought.

maybe thats just me...... but watching this clip really has made me laugh i can remember when it was music and books that were the problem in more recent years video game's people will pick fault with anything.

Well i remember the 80's very well despite the fact i wasnt that old my first flirtaion with comic's was the dandy,beano and teh big comic around about 1985 i would have been 8 and recieved my first 2000ad publication it was an annual and around the same time some one started buying me arak son of thunder by DC

At this stage i still wasnt heavily into comics just flirting but by 86/87 my parents had a a lodger come to live with us a teacher very well educated and into 2000ad he would buy the magazine and then pass them onto me when he was finished fuelling my interest in comics.....eventually he moved on and i stopped reading 2000ad and comics in general till maybe 1990/01 were i would discover Marvel and DC on a new level many the big titles that people associate with the companys but by 1993 i had found most of the comics by them lacking and started collection earler editions from the 80's i have found i like the earlier comics and there story lines.

Anyway by 93 i had dscovered a new company (image) and the multiple studio's it housed i followed most of there big titles till 97/98 and sort of moved away from comics altogther i married my wife in 2005 though we had lived togther previous to that and he had always been a big factor in trying to pick up collecting comics again and up until now i had left it on the back burner but recently i have discovered my passion once again for comics and will now comtinue collecting old and new.

Just some short info to were it all started for me i have boxes full of comics from all of these companys ive been missing out!
