Alright, I promised I would get back here when I actually had read some... And so far, I have finished 'Brothers of the Blood', and ... I didnt really like it all that much... Guess Im not really into that 'clone' thing, and this trade seems to center all around Dredd clones, rather than Dredd himself... Oh well, hope the rest of the trades are better.

I havent read it either, but this still sure sounds good to me :

QuoteTermight, a world at the heart of a cruel galactic empire. A world devastated by nuclear warfare. Deep below ground its inhabitants try to eke out a mere existence, continually threatened by the Terminators, lead by the diabolically evil Torquemada. There is a resistance though, and a new kind of hero. Meet Nemesis the Warlock, champion of the coming rebellion!

Is the 2000AD Artwork Gallery really that difficult to find?

(this is a genuine question, since I got an email yesterday from someone asking where to but 2000AD artwork but apparently oblivious that I sold it myself)
Depends on youre google-fu, I guess... And what youre looking for. I see a lot of 'Not for sale' pages on that site. Also, there are a lot 'not-so-good' interior pages, and (almost ?) no covers from better known artists on better known titles... Oh well, to each his/her own, I guess.

Hi,

Ive only recently started collecting original artwork (and it's not 2000ad, shame on me). But im having a bit of trouble finding online sellers of original (published) art. What Ive got so far primarily are these sites :

http://www.theartistschoice.com/
http://www.theartofcomics.com/
http://www.marcsilvestriart.com/

Does anyone know of any other online stores / artists selling (2000AD) original artwork ? Thanks.

BTW, what Ive bought so far are these 2 :

Ghost Rider #28 Cover 2 page spread Pencils by Marc Silvestri

ULTIMATE SINISTER 6: ISSUE 4, PAGES 11 + 12: PENCILS BY TREVOR HAIRSINE

Ah. Thanks for clearing that up, guys. Guess I will be getting 'America' here, then :

... as soon as my budget allows it, that is...  ;)

The only other one I'd recommend you hunt down now is America:

Specifically this volume:

Sounds good, but the 2nd hand prices I have seen it being offered for were easily a 100+ brit pounds ... Ouch. Not gonna pay that much for a trade, no matter how good it is.

I'd recommend "The Pit" as another good choice but since you've already spent 76 quid you might want to see how much you like what's been recommended so far!
Good point  ;) Still, Ill think ill add The Pit to my wish list just the same.

The Anderson Psi File 1 is also a great collection but it's focused on another Judge (and it's in B&W).
That it is another Judge is probably not really an issue (she was in the original Judge Death story, right ?). Speaking of which, anything 'Judge Death' related that is not collected in case files im prolly gonna add to my wish list as well. Great character 'The Cccrime isss Life! The sssentence isss ... Death!'

They are in the Case Files but years apart in the range.  The Cursed Earth is early on (CF 2 I think) whereas Necropolis is in Case Files 14.  And the Case Files do become full colour after awhile, I think around volume 11(? guys??) (I said it was late), so something like Necropolis is in full colour so don't panic that it's all going to be B&W artwork.
Alright, guess I wont buy these stories then, but rather wait till they turn up in case files. And it's good to know that case files will turn color eventually.

I hope you enjoy reading Dredd and let us know what you thought of it.  I also hope you will try some of the B&W material because if you can pass that barrier you can enjoy some of the other fantastic stuff from 2000AD, like Strontium Dog.
Ill be sure to let you all know what I think of em. Im pretty sure I have the ability to get beyond the black&white thing, as Im a huge fan of Robert Kirkman's 'The Walking Dead' as well, and thats B&W too. Also, Ive been lookin at Slaine as well, especially the arcs that were drawn/painted by Simon Bisley. Loved his work on 'Melting Pot', good god what great art...

Here is a thread on where to start reading Dredd:

www.2000adonline.com/forum/index.php/topic,31063.0.html

I would recommend you don't rule the B&W stories out as it'd mean you'd miss out on a whole host of classic stories.

Alright, so considering that Ive already bought/own these :
- Classic Judge Dredd Featuring Judge Death (2000 AD Collector's Editions)
- Brothers of the Blood
- Total War
- Mandroid
- Origins
- Tour of Duty / The Backlash
- Tour of Duty / Mega-City Justice

And, based on people's general opinion, assuming I will follow up with the 'complete case files' series, starting with #1 and working my way all up to #17... What else would be good to get next ? There is so much out there, Im getting afraid I will unintentionally get duplicate stories...  >:(

These were also recommended; I hope these arent in the 'complete case files' as well ?
- The Cursed Earth
- The Day the Law Died
- The Judge Child
- Block War
- The Apocalypse War
- City of the Damned
- Oz
- Necropolis

Hi there and welcome to the boards!

It would be a shame if you skipped the case files due to them being in black and white as you're going to miss loads of classic stories.

If you want to start with some more modern stuff, I'd suggest the following collections in semi chronological order -

Brothers of the Blood
Total War
Mandroid
Origins
Tour of Duty / The Backlash
Tour of Duty / Mega-City Justice

After that though, you need to read The Cursed Earth, The Day the Law Died, The Judge Child, Block War, The Apocalypse War, City of the Damned, Oz and Necropolis at the very least!

Thanks for the feedback. Ive taken a leap of faith, (so these better be good!  ;) )and bought the six recent books you mentioned (for 76 pound). If these turn out as good as I hope, then maybe I will follow up with the others you suggested, and after that ... ? who know, maybe Ill start with the case files after all.

General / Judge Dredd: What to buy ?
24 June, 2011, 11:06:31 AM
Hi,

Because I am really interested in Judge Dredd, I recently bought this HC: 'Classic Judge Dredd Featuring Judge Death (2000 AD Collector's Editions)'. And although I really loved the characters (especially Judge Death), I was a little dissapointed as well. The way the story was told seemed to be a bit outdated to me; I guess this is a relatively old story. Also, to my surprise, the book was black & white, and I am truly sorry but I do prefer color books.

So my question is: what should I have bought instead ? Im really looking at HC's and TPB's, relatively new (2000+), and in color. I guess that the 'Judge Dredd: Complete Case Files' series would be a really bad place to start, given these criteria ? I have been looking at 'Judge Dredd Tour of Duty: Mega-City Justice', which may be more what I am looking for ?

Any and all suggestions are more than welcome.
