Umm, I'd say that none of those titles you mention really do that. They're all either pastiches or mickey takes.

Anyway, never thought I was the first one to have that thought.

Sorry about the furries. It's not a furry comic by any stretch.

Very interesting. I'm currently trying to finish up another issue of my own little all-ages comic.

Still got to do the colours on this page.

Boy, whoever said it would be easy corralling a group of people to contribute to an anthology for nothing?

Issue one here if anyone's interested http://issuu.com/smartbomb/docs/smartbomb01

I've always thought it would be great to try and do a 21st century version of silver/bronze age, decompressed, superheroics. 'They're too powerful for comics - you can only see them in AtomiX!'

I'll get me coat.

whats better, drawing storyboards freelance for advertising comps or doing comics?

Ummm... let me think  ::)

Yeah, of course it has to be teh comix, but you already knew that.

And if I could never do it as a job, I'd do it just for laughs. This is the cover of my small-press daftness. Out soon! For kids, small and big!

Heh. Yep Darren, for my sins, that was me on Super Play :) Thanks for the kind words. It would be nice to do something else like that now but the mag field is very different from back then. I've been in games development since 2000 but that's all a bit grim at the moment.

Rob - Yeah, I started out doing the anime/manga style thing when it was new to most people but I've tried to tone it down a bit and just incorporate elements of it into my own style now. I can still do the archetypal wide-eyed, pink haired girly in a power suit if needs be but it's not quite as new and exciting as it was in '92.

I'll see if I can come up with some 2000AD-centric artwork to bore you all with.

Hi Wil, are you the guy that used to draw the covers for 'Super Play' magazine? It sure looks like you are, from your blog...... I'm not kidding, but a friend and I were talking about that mag at work today. One of the things we both agreed on were the quality cover illos. Top stuff....scary coincedence, too!  :o

Oh, and as for having a bit of Dredd in you....lets see it!  :D

Thought I better do the introduction thang :)

Yes, I was there in '77. Nearly 13 at the time but still not quite sure whether or not Mum would approve of Flesh in the comic she'd just bought me.

I sort of let things lapse sometime in the '80s and have dipped in and out ever since. Never quite letting things go but also never really being a regular. The US spandex brigade have now, pretty much, left me behind but I'm finding 2000AD still has it! I think I'd still prefer it if it was a kids comic with an edge rather than just for the grown-ups as I've got a 7-year old son and I'd love it if he could discover a really good UK news-stand comic but hey-ho.

My own scribblings are very much younger-orientated but I do feel a bit of Dredd in me waiting to bust out every now and again.

Anyway, happy to be here.

. Importantly, the EX version allows you to export to photoshop (with layers) whereas the Debut version doesn't (AFAIK)

Just so people know, the Debut version does export layers to Photoshop. Initially it looked like it was restricted to just 6 but I've exported gazillions to it.

I used to ink with a brush and MS is the nearest I've got to that feeling, digitally. It's great and the ability to rotate the page (which I think PS has only gotten with CS5) makes it my favourite drawing package.

(first post and all that jazz - happy to be here :) )
