Thanks for running the competition Colin, great fun! I am very pleased to see Abnett take the cup, well deserved! Long may he contribute to the Galaxies Greatest!

Great, thanks for running the comp and presenting the winners and numbers.

I'm ashamed to say I've never read Dante...I've only heard good things about it, but there is no nice/accessible collected edition (that I'm aware of) to read. It's on my list, I'll need to track the trades down (I mostly do not read digital, only paper for me!)

1). Lawless
2). Insurrection
3). Fiends of the Eastern Front
4). Cursed Earth Koburn
5). The Simping Detective
6). The Bendatti Vendetta
7). Judge Death
8). Dredd (Movie)
9). Low Life
10). Lenny Zero

Again, I havent read all these thrills so can only weigh in on what I've read...although I'm fairly certain that my top 4 would remain unchaged.

I knew Kingdom would rate highly ... but now I can't put my finger on the top two.

Brink and...?

I'm surprised that Strontium Dog came in at #4, I figured 'ol Johnny would clinch the #1 spot for sure! And Gene would not be happy with #3 - him top dog!

Cheers, thanks for the link. Nice interview, I'm very pleased to see they are planning more Kingdom. Although it could be a while, it will be well worth the wait.

Kingdom in this thread and the Rebellion 20 years one. I joined this story in the middle somewhere and have never been able to make any sense of it. Perhaps I need to go back to the beginnning and find out what it is about.

You should, you really chuffin' should.

I second Colin here, Kingdom is a must. I really hope to see it continue one day (it was finished in a satisfying way but left very open ended). And don't forget to read the novel Kingdom: Fiefdom which is just as good as the comics. More Kingdom novels please!

I hope we will get a second TPB of Jaegir soon.

Hachette have announced it as part of their extension - given their standard page counts I expect that'll cover all the material to date.  Not sure what that'll mean for a second trade.

Hmm I hope the Hachette release dosen't impact a second TPB. I have the first and want to continue the collection. The first TPB appeared to have a wide release (showed up on the shelves of bookstores like Chapters etc.) and a free issue download so I hope that there is a large enough public demand for future TPB volumes.

Also, I really hope to see a final TPB volume of Strontium Dog, collecting the final story. Please Tharg? I would like to finish that collection.

I also feel that Gordon Rennie is under valued. His stories bring something different to the prog and he single handled created the best spin-off off any current verses in the prog with Jaegir

Agreed, Jaegir is fantastic. I always want more Rogue and this is a series that reaches into that world while remaining totally unique. I hope we will get a second TPB of Jaegir soon.

I'm liking all the love for Glimmer Rats! Take note Tharg, we humans demand more tales from the Glimmer!

On that note, the other competition going for favorite writer would have come down to Dan Abnett and Gordon Rennie if were up to me.

I recently picked up a stack of Bunty annuals and my daughters love them. Wondering if this series would work for them as well? Like you say Colin, that art is fantastic.

Dan Abnett!

This is probably easier for me than it should be...Mills has written a few of my favorites but he is more miss than hit for me overall. Way to preachy about anarchy and dark forces etc. I often find myself speed reading through his thrills. Forever grateful for Cursed Earth, early ABC Warriors and (although not 2000ad) Charley's War.

Abnett on the other hand can do no wrong! Lawless, Kingdom, Brink, Insurrection etc. I can read those over and over again, just pure thrill power.

Pat for being a 2000ad man for life, Moore just used it as a stepping stone.

This post changed my vote...although I prefer Skizz and Jones to many of Mills efforts, I'm voting Pat Mills. Judge Dredd the Cursed Earth was the first 2000ad story I ever read, thanks Pat!
