Argh! So much for my hard won patina of respectability! ;) Nice, nice piccie though. Which I keep in a folder, downstairs in a different room, and only look at sometimes. Honest ;) [No need to publish the totally nekkid Dredd pics, Logan. I try to be a private pervert these days.]
Tweed-girl, briskly moving on to new subjects.

I have never fallen from the path of overwhelming obession with all things Dredd. From the start to now I have never missed an issue although there have been some that I never go to reread as I have a sensitive soul [Summer Offensive with Millar n Morrison anyone?].
I don't regard the lapsed as traitors though, just poor souls who fail to see the overwhelming glory of Dredd devotion.

Respectable? When did that happen?

Why I'm totally respectable now! I havn't leapt on a stranger to sell them fanzines for ages!! I even persuaded the mother-in-law that I'm a nice girl [poor deluded FOOL!!] Now I've got them all lulled into a false sense of security I can engage the next stage of the plan for world domination and compulsory Dredd for everyone. After I've made dinner and walked the dog anyway.

Hello one and all, I am Tweed-girl. I'm just getting the hang of this board and its' personalities before plunge posting. I've been a Dredd fan since I was 4, majorly into the fandom but in the last few years I've let myself get distracted by the false glamour of a 'real life' and respectablility.

PS. That's material not perfume BTW. Librarians Rule!! [As long as Dredd sez I can ;)]

General / Re: Which was better - Necropolis ...

Apocalyse War was the best by miles. Kraken was a whining little pup and could never have replaced Dreddie. Silver was dumb! Dumb, dummie dumb!! Death was too good for him.
Also I REALLY didn't like young Giant and the peewee squad taking center stage, there were whole episodes with barely any Dredd. I would have liked to have seen a proper examination of judical guilt complexes after their collaboration but that's been pretty much glossed over. The whole 'I was under the influence' excuse wouldn't save many citizens from the full might of the law, would it?
And the way Dredd won the AW? I did not see that coming but it was obvious from the start how they were going to get shot of Phobia and Nausea, or maybe I was just comparing it too much to the way Anderson dealt with Hammy.
Necropolis was good, don't get me wrong, it tied up a lot of stuff and few stories have ever shocked me like the Dead man did but Apocalyse War is a level higher on my personal scale.

Inferno was the absolute nadir of Dredd stories for me. This was so awful just thinking of it makes me feel ill.

Helter-Skelter just wasn't epicy at all, it was just 'Oh who can we throw into the background here' Fun for sad nolifers such as myself playing spot the old thrill but story? Where?? Point? double Where?? [And yes, it is just a comic and I should get out in daylight more, BUT.]

Judgemant Day was the best of the three but that is not much of a contest.

Actually here at Coventry University it's more like  SWITCH THAT MOBILE PHONE OFF! YES, YOU WALKING BEHIND THE PILLAR PRETENDING TO BE DEAF!!
Noise issues? Library staff? That's just an urban myth.

Well apart from socks, towels, t-shirts, statues, models, posters, standees, candles and smash n crash toys the most bizarre Dredd thing I have is the stamper set. Appealed to my librarian nature but I just don't know who it was aimed at. While I would buy an empty shoe-box if it had Dredd on I wouldn't regard myself as a one woman market place.

PS. Hello Logan & Mud-crab if you hang around here at all.
