Books & Comics / Superman Returns: The Videogame
« on: 01 March, 2006, 04:06:26 PM »
Came across a trailer for the new game based on the film, and thought I'd post it here for those who like that kind of thing. It looks better than any other attempt to make Supes into a game, not that that would be difficult. I'm curious.

Sorry if this has been posted before - been away a while dontchaknow.

I came across this and liked it. It might have just enough content to make it on topic. Judge for yourselves:

Off Topic / Remember me?
« on: 01 November, 2005, 02:13:37 AM »
Anyone remember me? Thought I'd poke my head round the door again after six or seven months of no internet (or 2000AD, which has been equally trying). Nice to see not much has changed, and most of the old faces are still floating round.

Incidentally, if anybody feels like filling me in on any big events in the 2000AD universe since... uh.... February, that would be VERY handy.... Not being cheeky or anything ;-P

"A comic book movie, like the Punisher, and Batman. People will hit this movie for its story, acting etc, and I beg to differ on their opinion, this movie is a comic book movie and is meant not to be Terms of endearment, instead its a fantasy flick. Stallone know fantasy or comic book films with his creation of Rambo, and does a excellent Judge Dredge. This movie has a strong cast, of many recognizable faces who create strong performances. The story is along the lines of comic book, backed up with great special effects. I went to the theater expecting this, and give this one a thumbs up."

Goodbye y'all!

I'm not off just yet, but my computer is about to be packed up. I don't know how long it'll be till I'm back online - could be as much as a week, maybe even a bit longer. When you next hear from me I'll be broadcasting from my secret base in the deepest, darkest part of the Welsh jungles...

I'm moving all my comics, and Denise has helpfully changed my address so hopefully I'll be able to keep up with Total War at my normal pace. I'm off to study philosophy, play games, drink and generally be a student. Though I have two jobs already before I even arrive, so obviously not your typical student!!

Expect me back soon...

Anyone with Shaun Of The Dead on DVD, watch the 'Funky Pete' featurette. I give you proof positive that 'funk' is a TERRIBLE swear word. Mr Mills, please take note...

Does anyone have the collection of Captain Britain by Alan Moore that I could purchase?

Off Topic / Gmail Invites
« on: 02 September, 2004, 04:51:25 PM »
I have five (yes, FIVE) spare Gmail invites.

Instead of the usual process of making friends/family/pensioners beg and fight for them, I thought I'd hand them out freely here! No fuss. First come, first serve...

Gmail is Google's free email service! You can only join by invitation (invitations are randomly deposited into member's accounts) and it offers 1000mb of storage.

I've been using it as my primary email address for over two months and it still tells me I'm using '0%' of my capacity.

It also archives email as conversations - ie, if you get into an email conversation with someone, you can view all the replies and sent mails in order.

Two months and no complaints. More than can be said for most free providers.
No pop-ups, no annoying 'We thought you'd like this....' mail.

Just plain, simple mail storage/sending with a great spam filter.

Ok, this is how it'll go.
Post here if you want one!
I'll then sendmail you about it later on.
You'll recieve an invite to join.

General / Alan Moore's Shocking Futures
« on: 28 August, 2004, 02:55:19 AM »
Just a quickie to let people know that Alan Moore's Shocking Futures and Twisted Tales have popped up on Supranova.org.

As they're ruddy impossible to find, worth a look if you haven't read them.

Some assorted 2000AD stuff is there too, but most of it is available there now as well so you'd be better with the originals.
Mostly good stuff!

I desperately (within the next 24 hours) need to wipe my laptop. It came with no restore discs or Windows XP CD, so I can't just do a straight wipe. Does XP have a facility to purge everything on the drive except for itself? Or similar? Desperate here!

News / Alien 5
« on: 25 August, 2004, 10:18:04 AM »
As we all probably know, James Cameron occasinally mentions in interviews all the ideas that he's come up with for Alien 5.

Sigourney Weaver (as we all also know) sent the franchise into a death roll because of her obsession with a)starring in them and b) controlling the direction of them, despite her total ignorance when it comes to what people want from them.

She has recently said the following:

"I always said to Tom Rothman, who runs Fox, that I thought it would be interesting to do a small, spooky movie, more like the first one; a psychological thriller that could take Ripley to whatever the next stage may be. Which side would win out, the Jekyll or the Hyde?"

Maybe if we all f*cking SCREAM at the top of our lungs, she'll finally hear and get it. All together now...

Ahem. I do actually like SW, except for that.

Off Topic / Donnie Darko backlash
« on: 17 August, 2004, 07:13:57 AM »
I just posted to a thread about Harvey, one of my all time favourite movies.

I took the time to go to IMDB and see how it was rated and just, y'know, look.

The message board there is FILLED with people saying things like 'If Harvey hadn't been made, Donnie Darko wouldn't exist. And it's a fucking stupid film'.

It gets to the point where people actualy have to begin posts with phrases like 'Well I hate Donnie Darko as much as the next man, but...' just to be taken seriously.

I liked it. Great little gem of a film. I also like Harvey. I'm not stupid enough to think that because a kid was in a rabbit costume in DD it relied entirely on the existance of Harvey.

Why do people have to be like this?? Am I just being delusional? Why does everyone suddenly have to HATE a film just because they LOVED it at first?

More to the point...

What the HELL is wrong with posters on IMDB??? EVERY film board makes me want to break faces.
