General / MATTHEW FOX ideal for Dredd
04 September, 2009, 02:47:55 PM
I think he should be the guy Rebellion/DNA Films approach.

Check out the two clips.

http://matthew-fox.net/2008/04/24/2-new-speed-racer-interviews/

First clip is his real voice but you can see his great Dredd type chin.

The second clip is when he puts on his Racer X voice - which sounds very much like Dredd's. What a great Dredd voice!

I can't think of a more suitable candidate. He's got the look, the height, the age, the voice, well-known but not a star. He's a decent actor too. Every box he ticks.

I'm certain Matthew Fox would be a super-credible Dredd and his casting would make the film happen, it would give the film a bit more of a high profile. People know of Fox from Lost so it's good publicity for Rebellion and DNA Films. If Dredd film 2 is to work it has to have the right actor playing Dredd. It's a key element. I reckon Fox would be fantastic. I think Rebellion/DNA Films should contact his agent and see if he's interested. This chap would nail Dredd so much.

I won't mention this again.  :D

News / New Rebellion Judge Dredd game?
02 September, 2009, 12:42:30 AM
QuoteWell, there is the announcement that went out recently about a new Judge Dredd film in the works," said Jones when we asked him about the possibility.

"There's not a lot I can say about that right now, but the film is in development and...I really can't say anything about what we might be doing game-wise at the moment. But...watch this space," he said.

QuoteThere's not a lot known about the next Judge Dredd film, but Rebellion has previously confirmed that it'll be a remake of the original Stallone film

!!!!!!!  :o  :o

I don't think that's right. A remake? I think it's a new film totally unconnected to the original. I think that site got it a bit wrong! :D "I am the laaaawrghh" We don't need that bit remade. Heh.

General / Anyone got Prog 371?
24 August, 2009, 10:28:22 PM
Has anyone got 2000AD prog 371?

http://www.2000ad.org/functions/cover.php?Comic=2000ad&choice=371

The reason I ask is prog 371 contained a 2000AD action figure. It was Slaine. You cut out the figure and paste it on cardboard. I did this.

I'm currently reading some of my old progs. I get up to prog 371 and discover a few pages are missing - the ones I cut out to make the Slaine action figure. As a result, one or two pages of an interesting Future Shock are missing: Bill Tompkins Meets Bill Tompkins.

I got to the point in the story where Bill has woken up in bed and believes all the clones of him were a horrible nightmare. The doorbell rings, he opens the door and he sees another Bill Tompkins standing there. He tries to strangle him. That's the end of the third page. I haven't got the rest of the story. If anyone has a complete prog 371 can they tell me what happened? Did Bill find out why the world was full of Bill Tompkins clones?  ;)

Film & TV / Avatar Day - August 21
09 August, 2009, 01:31:15 PM
QuoteOn August 21, the world will get its first look at director James Cameron's motion picture epic AVATAR, when Twentieth Century Fox and Cameron debut the film's trailer everywhere – while select cinemas and IMAX® theaters will screen extended footage prepared by the renowned filmmaker for this global "Avatar Day" event.

The worldwide trailer launch will be presented in all formats, including IMAX® 3-D, IMAX® 2-D, digital 3-D, digital 2-D, and 35mm 2-D. The trailer will also be available online.

The extended look at AVATAR will unspool only on August 21 – and only in 3-D – in select theaters and IMAX®. Details on locations and reserving tickets for this extraordinary and unprecedented experience will be announced soon.

In addition on the 21st, Ubisoft® will unveil the trailer for their videogame James Cameron's Avatar: The Game, and Mattel will reveal the action figures for the film's Avatar and alien Na'vi characters.

AVATAR takes us to a spectacular new world beyond our imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption, discovery and unexpected love, as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization. The film was first conceived by Cameron 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, AVATAR delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film, disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

AVATAR opens in theaters everywhere December 18, 2009.

It's Cameron's first feature film since Titanic.  ;)
