I took the comic out to read whilst I was waiting for the music to start at the Neffs gig last night. I was kinda hoping someone would ask me what this cool looking comic I was looking at was but I soon forgot about the outside world.

Had I realised this I'd have rushed in from O'Neills earlier then I did  ;)

I'd have been easy to spot I was wearing on of these:

Good gig, but hate the say it Leeds the night before was better  ;)

Film Discussion / Re: Rewatching the OTHER Dredd movie...

I was considering getting it on Blu-ray if I can get cheaply, it was always a god looking film, it's just so much else of it was so bad. I've never noticed two ABC robots either, I need to get around the watching the recent C5 showing that I Sky+ and go looking for it.

Absolutely LOVED it, had to read the first page of Simp' twice and then go back to Dredd to make sure I wasn't imagining things. Top stuff!!!

I so did that, I had some serious double takes between the last page of Dredd and the first page of the Simping Detective.

I must admit I had a 'Moment' at the start of Simping Detective and pretty much had a 'Crisis' at the end of Low Life, best thing to happen in the prog for ages. Very clevely done, and worked so well.

General / Re: Plastic Head Orders - Any deliveries

I have had no problems with them. Two orders done, and both turned up in less then a week, and one of them was for 10 t-shirts.

Just order what is showing as available and there won't be any issues.

Granted several release dates have slipped, but it doesn't take much to check what is and isn't available and when it is actually avaliable as they do list when it is supposed to be released.

This is from Pat Mills Blog from a few days ago, clearly mentioning launch sales for 2000AD of 220k. Lets face if anyone is going now it'll be Pat.

http://patmills.wordpress.com/2012/10/18/misty-the-female-2000ad/

I have definitly read things in the past claiming sales of around 250k at it's absolute peak which I guess was probably around 1981/82 and maybe as far as 1985. But yes there is certianly a difference between sales and readership.

Blimey, as somebody who lived and breathed the prog during at least part of that period, it truly seemed like 2000ad was the comic of choice, or the only comic - for that matter, for that whole generation. Maybe it did only sell 100,000+ at its peak, which would surprise me greatly.

I've been hearing those figures for years. The 250K readership of the early and mid 80's as far as I know is pretty well established, I seem to remember a lot my mates buying it and as many again reading somebody else's copy. Pat Mills has certainly talked enough about it having a readership of 200k+ at launch and maintaining it for sometime.

I also remember putting a question to Matt Smith at one of the Bristol ComicCons about 5 or 6 years ago about readership. He claimed the readership was a steady 25,000 - 30,000, and had been since before the Rebellion buy out. They whole tactic of having quarterly roster changes was design to create convenient jumping on point for new, more likely returning readers. Seems that tactic has maintianed the status quo and not really helped raise the readership.

General / Re: Dredd Merchandise from Plastic Head

Big box of ten t-shirts turned up this morning a week after ordering them. If you order the ones that are only available they get them out pretty quickly. Admitedly, it is a bit of a piss take that they take the money on orders well in advance of things becoming available let alone despatched.

My copy turned up this morning, rockin' stuff, not sure about the order of the track listing and titles, seems a bit confusing to me, but I'm sure this has been gone over earlier on in this thread.

There was a German chap over on the Telegraph website and nick names cropped up,someone mentioned 'little Englanders' and he said that they never call us that but STILL call us Tommies or Inselaffe (islands apes),ruddy Bosch.

New Model Army wrote a whole song after the singer discovered the Germans often refered to the Brits as 'Island Monkeys'.

I'm  wondering if your first paragraph has answered that?

Interesting Metacrtic comparison.

Dredd - Critics 59% Users 8.5
District 9 - Critics 81% Users 7.9

There are quite a few, how about this one:

Judge Anderson, watching MC-1 from the skateboard ramp at night. Beautiful scene, great atmosphere in that short break from all the carnage.

I agree I loved that scene, another corker from Ms Thirlby. It was that one scene that really made me feel that it was in MC1 first time I watched it. I hadn't been all that taken on the MC1 exteriors until this part the first time I watched it. After that it all seemed to make more sense.

Yippee, Judda stretch goal passed!  Now if only I could mug enough people in the next two hours to get Judge Bruce on his trike...
Bruce is part of the Judda Stretch target, so no need to form your own tap gang!

Hour and half to go $98,214 on the cards. I reckon this has pretty much doubled in the last 5 or 6 days.

Yeah we should have thought about this sooner, campaigned for the Chancellor to make it mendetory for everyone to go and see Dredd at least once. Roughly, 45 million people older the 18 in the UK, average of £10 a ticket, plus munch and drinks at another £5 (ish) that's £675M (or $1.1 Billion :D) injected in the economy.

Not to mention more sequels then we could shake a stick at.
