Oh. Does it? I was wondering if I'd missed some way to tell them I wanted an 'M' when it arrived as 'XL' today. Pity.

It's not good....

DC SHEDS 2000AD/REBELLION & HUMANOIDS

Their absence in the July solicitations was duly noted by the respective fans of the UK and France-based publishers, and DC late today issued an explanation for the missing 200AD/Rebellion and Humanoids solicitations: the publisher has ended its relationships with the European publishers, and will no longer publish their material in North America.

Now, I'm really hoping that we'll still be getting the UK editions. I desperately want the rest of Dante to be collected.

Well, it's true that we are getting ripped off. Or perhaps Rebellion are if you're paying DC for the books and this leads to the pricing differences.

As far as shipping costs are concerned I'm just looking at comparable goods: I pay ?9.99 to my local comics shop for a $14.95 TPB. Or ?10.99/?12.99 for them for the same Rebellion published material. Both those prices include the book coming over from the US. So I'm certainly taking that into account.

If the smaller print runs have caused trouble I suggest putting a pound AND dollar price on the back to use exactly the same print run.

Is the Dredd/Batman vs Sin/Dex pricing difference then because DC gave you less favourable printing rates for the thicker book?

No, I don't think that's it.

I buy stuff from the Diamond catalogue all the time through my local comics shop.
They convert the prices based on what they pay for the goods, but they'd only charge me ?9.99 for a $14.95 book. So that's the import hike - from ?8.35 to ?9.99.

Which does bring the Sin/Dex book a bit more inline..that's only a 10% price hike then if compared that way.
(10% too much, but *shrug*)

But I don't think there can be any good excuse for the Dredd/Batman book costing ?2 more than the Sin/Dex book when they're the SAME price in the US.

I don't think so - books are zero-rated for VAT so as far as I know there's no taxes on them.

General / DC/Rebellion TPB price differences

So....why are we in the UK getting overcharged for the editions of the new collections compared to the US lot?

Lets take 2 examples:

Sin/Dex: Gunshark Vacation.
US price: $14.95 (approx ?8.35)
UK price: ?10.99
Difference: ?2.64 (31% increase for the UK edition)

Dredd/Batman Files
US price: $14.95 (approx ?8.35)
UK price: ?12.99
Difference: ?4.64 (55% increase for the UK edition)

For both of these the UK edition says printed in Canada, so I assume it's from exactly the same Quebecor print run as the US edition but with a different cover for price info. ie...no strange higher costs involved because of a small UK print run.

Anyone at Rebellion fancy explaining why we're getting massively ripped off in the UK?

I'd love to read the taster but - yuck! - it's a Flash site. Can't do them from work so it'll have to wait until I'm home.

(Mutter mutter no good reason to use Flash ever, just pointless making things unavailable to everyone for no good reason mutter.)
