Ah man, I loved Moviedrome.  It's how I saw Trancers and Terminator.

Also, Cox directed my favourite ever film.  Repoman, obviously!

I'm also a huge fan of Repoman. Saw it five times when it was first released in the cinemas. I remember seeing a version of it on the telly some years later. I can't recall if it was on BBC or ITV, but the version shown was slightly dubbed, so that the words "Fuck" and "Mother-fucker" were, respectively, replaced with "Flip" and "Melon-Farmer".

Really wish that I had taped that particular version.  :D

Alex Cox also oversaw that redubbing.

I haven't noticed an increase in wasps, but over the past couple of decades these facehugger gits have become increasingly prevalent up here from a starting point of zero.

They're also far too fast for my liking...

With speeds clocked at 0.53 m/s (1.9 km/h; 1.2 mph; 1.7 ft/s), the giant house spider held the Guinness Book of World Records for top spider speed until 1987 when it was displaced by solifugids, although the latter are not true spiders

That episode foreshadowed nine years ago.
(SPOILERS, obviously.)

I noticed it as well. I also thought Graham's "What you going to call yourselves? 'Three Idiots Roaming'?" comment was more than a bit insensitive. He's only just met them and now he's dishing out jokey insults based upon the name of a vlog one of them did with her friend who's just exploded?

Just so ye ken ah'm no makin' this up... One link and another.

Also worth noting for future reference that there's a tramp called "Clarty" in the Judge Dredd "Fungus" storyline.

"Great balloon" is a weight reference - comparing someone's shape to a balloon.

That's not my reading of it.

"Balloon" is a particularly Scottish insult, which can mean either someone who is full of hot air or somebody whose head is full of nothing but air, (dependent upon context/regional variation).

...and the back-up strip in that Nightcomers floppy is apparently Terror of The Cats.

I don't think that's necessarily an adult fan thing, 'cos I've always done that. I blame all those detective telly programmes in the 70s and 80s.

However, one of my favourite programmes when I was wee was Sapphire and Steel, so make of that what you will.

Books & Comics / Re: The Thirteenth Floor / Eagle question

Max has been editor of Eagle for a while by this point, though - briefly replaced by "Minimax" when the Max character is portrayed as bonkers in Thirteenth Floor episodes running in those issues.  If Max and Minimax are separate characters, it does beg some questions about the ending of Rebellion's recent Thirteenth Floor special.

Ah, that's right. I now recall that he became editor when Eagle merged with Tiger. So that'd be 1985. He must have just been editing from Maxwell Tower prior to 1987.

I don't think that's Minimax at the end of the 2019 special, though. I think it's supposed to indicate that Max is now on the Internet.

Ran until issue no.258 in 1987, after which Max became the editor of Eagle for a while.

It returned in later issues but only as reprints.

What's wrong with Death's Head #8?

I contaminated it by appearing on the letters page.

Dr. Who crossover. Presume there's rights issues involved.

Or it could be that.

Was hoping for Leo Baxendales Willy The Kid getting picked up after Sweeney Toddler, I have fond memories of it from when I was young and the books seem to go for a premium on Ebay...

Rebellion won't own the rights to reprint the Willy The Kid books. They were published by Duckworth Books and Leo Baxendale probably kept hold of the copyright. My guess would be that the rights now belong to Baxendale's family.

There was something nigglingly familiar about the Earth reveal, and not just in a Beneath The Planet of The Apes type way. Then I remembered this from the Colin Baker era...
