Yeah, but some of those are my own split personalities...

I might be a little jet lagged, by the way. Ignore my rant. :-)

I love you all. Except you. And you, yeah, you, since you made me wear that Anderson costume and 'Psi' you.

I would however like to thank the many people who have come to me and said that they enjoyed it, that have sought me out in signings and at conventions to let me know, and the people who have posted on these boards to say how they've enjoyed it. Also, a thanks to the people who, when saying how they've disliked the story have explained exactly why, so I'm able to look at this in future stories. Many people have said how this series has learned from the last series, and for that I am grateful.

The people who can't be assed, who complain every week? All I ask is you go back and re-read the books. Maybe you'll enjoy this.

This forum has the most hardcore fans around and for that you should be proud, but at the same time has a strong rep as 'don't bother going there, it's a dozen people who wish it was like the old days and the rest are scared to talk'. I know it's not like that, but that's the serious impression this site gives. Many creators are too scared to even read the forum, let alone reply. This is the forum that spawned the 'fan' that sent me shit, after all!!

Anyway, you have one more week of Necrophim. Rejoice. Maybe something better will come along.

Although for some of you? I doubt it.

In fairness, I know some of the naysayers couldn't give the faintest shit about the story anyway and skim read it most of the time, but complaining about the 'Team Uriel' line? If you go back to the earlier stories of this (and I know that some of you are already having quite vocal Vietnam flashbacks of having to go back to them and read) you'll see that the lower levels of hell have always spoken with a slightly more modern cadence. And Lucifer too has used slang.

Just because this might be the first one you've noticed it in? Doesn't mean it's the first time it's happened.

Sorry, I know the general rule is for creators to keep quiet while the naysayers repeatedly take swings at their testicles, but you know what? I have one week left, I've been told everywhere else that this is an enjoyed story and it's only here that I hear so much negativity about the current prog and the stories - and by that I mean most of them, from trumpeting net heroes. Grab your bats and get ready for next week's prog, as it's the last time for a while that you'll be having a swing at my balls.

Actually most theological and christian belief is varied on Hell - one theory often stated is that fallen Angels can choose to become demons, another (also used in HELLBLAZER) is that Demons were there when the Angels arrived.

In NECROPHIM we've already stated in previous stories that Astaroth was the prince of Hell before Lucifer and his Angels arrived. And I also like the idea that Fallen Angels can choose the aspects that they end with in Hell - hence Valion's Cenobite-ish face and Neboron's, well, Demon look.

But I have no idea why so many of them are bald... :-)

Just beeen to two trustworthy sellers in Kings Heath in Birmingham, one being WHSmith. Nothing. Still progless. Bollocks.

The Kings Heath WHSmiths is notorious for being shite for 2000ad. The tobacconist across the road or the one opposite the post office were always better alternatives for me.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. When it ends, I'll try rereading the whole run in one go to see if it makes more sense.

Doubtful! I wrote it and even I have to keep checking back! :)

...ridiculous things like spending several progs getting Neboron into prison in Heaven, then using one of his boons to break the guy out and send Cythea there, but then Cythea breaks out and is set to establish a treaty with Neoboron, whom she helped frame, which is all part of Uriel's plan somehow...

She doesn't break out. As seen at the end of the last series, her 'arrest' was a ploy, and Raziel takes her to the Blizzard Kingdoms. She simply lied to the demons.

Sorry if this is all too confusing. :-)

Hi guys,

Yes, Necrophim is back - for those who love it, sad news, this is the last book of Necrophim, in nine more weeks it'll all tie up nicely, I hope!

For those who hate it, rejoice! This is the last book of Necrophim, in nine more weeks it'll all tie up nicely, I hope!

As for the length, this was actually two issues merged together to give the final series a real solid send off, but for those needing a primer -

Uriel - Pissed off protagonist. Looks like Lex Luthor in bondage.

Ezarat - one of the kings of purgatory, killed by Uriel in book 2 to frame Neboron. Was working for Heaven as an agent at the time.

Valion - Uriel's old mentor - offed around the start of the first book after he started mouthing off about Lucifer being, well, a bit bonkers.

Jotunheim - fresh from his stint as an extra in Kenneth Branagh's THOR, ol' Jottie was offed at the end of book one by Uriel in gladiatorial combat. Used to run the Blizzard Kingdoms.

Cythea - Neboron's old squeeze, Uriel's old and current squeeze, Cythea's been playing all sides since the start. Now a puppet queen on the Blizzard Kingdom's throne, she's starting to have delusions above her station.

Lord Astaroth - The original dukes of Hell appeared in book 2, and Astaroth is the main force behind their return to greatness. Reckons he can do a better job than Lucifer, no matter what the cost.

There. Now go forth and enjoy Lee Carter's amazing artwork!

Quote from: "Toni Scandella"The Black Museum... you know something? i'm really tired of the voodoo as evil horror nonsense.  It's lazy at best, racist at worst.  I'd like to see a story about Voodoo that's well researched and shows the religion accurately.  As it was, it was just the usual, 'Oh those black people and their scary heathen ways.'  There are plenty of other ways of doing that particular storyline without resorting to cliches.  A pity really as the basic premise was actually quite sound, with the ambiguous end and all, but the evil black voodoo man angle spoiled it for me.

In fairness, (and spoiler quoted for those who haven't read it...)

[spoiler:1vbe0psr]If you read it one way, he's an evil black Voodoo man - but the other, more likely to be read way was that it was all in the mind of Throome- as the arm in the display is white. So technically he was a DEAD black voodoo man. At no point was he evil. He might ahve been quite nice. After all, he didn't seem to have any vices. He might have pressed flowers.

Actually, in the first draft he wasn't black either, but we needed to ensure that the reader could see a definite change in the skin between 'attached arm' and upper arm, and thus it changed...

As for research, I have a couple of friends who practice aspects of the Voodoo path in various forms and I've always been told that the best voodoo is the one that's allowed to grow in the mind - ie if the person cursed believes he's cursed, then he'll BE cursed to the level you want - as he'll create the circumstances and symptoms himself. It's faith in the product, not the ability of the seller.

So, by having it all in Throome's mind, technically I kept to one of the basic tenets of Voodoo.  :D[/spoiler:1vbe0psr]

No, it was in relation to a reader who commented that the 'shagging the pig headed woman' scene was so graphic that he had to stop his fourteen year old son reading it.

So we explained why the panel was there (to show just how far the Devil had gone, there had to be an element of shock factor) and because it's been shown, we don't need to show it again, if that makes sense.

Necrophim's not been cancelled - if anything, I had more people tell me they liked it than anything else this weekend!

Lee, you're a bloody comics professional. Email Mike Allwood (his email is on the website) and tell him you work for 2000ad. :-)

Quote from: "Van Dom"Bum. Necrophim's the freshest new strip in a good while and I was just getting into it...... what a tease!!!!
Bring it back soon please!!!!!

Please god, no. Can it go in the same file as Blackhawk and Dan Dare and just be forgotten about.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

The day Logan actually likes something I wrote? Is the day the universe ends. :)

RE: The Aardvark.

Yup, I'll hold my hands to that. My bad. I'd been reading some Dave Sim the week before and the spell checker didn't pick up on it when I mentioned Cerberus. Sometimes these things happen. It's not the end of the world.

But seriously, one spelling mistake doesn't mean I don't do any research. And I didn't want to use the worlds of Monsterking - I mean, LUCIFER that have been used before, because we all know that honestly? I'd be replying right now to people bitching that 'look, he couldn't even be bothered to create his own Hell - he just ripped off Milton'. :)

Glad a lot of you like it - and once more, sorry for the Aardvark. I groaned myself when I saw it!

It's okay, Logan - I've already realised that for you to like one of my stories is a sure sign of the Apocalypse arriving.  :D

Thanks for the kind words, guys (and the harsh words too!)
