Matt  Id agree with that.

Rogue was more interesting when Nu-Earth and its inhabitants took over.  Sister Sledge; Venus; his BioChips; the robots (and others) of Fort Neuro; Brass and Bland.  The stories where never really about rogue, he is virtually unkillable, but more about how we view Nu-earth and War through his (relatively) naive eyes.

The new rogue stories have only really touched on this.  I think this is why we have been disapointed in the new RT stories.  But this may be the ground laying.  This is Rogue, remember him.  We have had the seeds of plots laid down in Weapon of War, I think we need to see this expanded a little.

In a way Rogue is different to Stontium Dog in a number of ways;
1. Johny Alpha - there are still some stories in this, Wagner has touched upon this in the Keeller Conspiracy.  Watcher has also stated that the relationship between Wulf and Alpha, could be investigated further.
2.  Peripheral Characters - there are a huge number of Great characters in SD that could/should have been expanded.  To name a few: Middenface, Durham (in alphas time), Kid Knee (early stories), Stix brothers, feral, Gronk, etc.  (I would need to look through back progs etc to get a huge list, but you get the idea)
3.  Location - weve had time jobs, different planets, earth (to some degree), the doghouse itself, etc.  Whereas, Rogue has been limited to Nu -Earth alone.

I think there are stories in these characters.

stodge - I know! I was trying to make light of some of the conspiracies that are flying around, at least were not talking about football.  A sure fire way to start a fight in polite circles on the West coast of Scotalnd......  Are you a Ger or a tic????  Aaaaaaarrrrghhh....

MJB - Surely no one could be that insensitive....

Blackblood - very good points......  I find it difficult to disagree.

Of course we could talk about democracy in the region too......  or the fact that a number of Arab leaders are saying they couldnt control their population, etc, etc, etc.....

It seems during the cold war, some of us lived near US bases.  I had the fortunate experience of Living a couple of miles from Loch Long and the Holy Loch.  There was something strangely comforting from knowing that if a bomb did go off you wouldnt know much about it......

I stand corrected on Uranium, my ahem degree aint been used in anger for some ten years.

To answer gary's question on sanctions, 3 major countries have disobeyed UN Sanctions (IIRC) the US, Iraq and Isreal.  Unfortunately it seems that Un Sanctions also have degrees.  The Iraq sanctions are passed solely against Iraq.  The US has no current Sanctions against them.  Isreals are passed against Isreal, the palestinians and other Arab countries, so to take actions against them would mean action against the others too.  It still reeks somewhat of hypocracy by the west (US) though......

Stodge - Isnt this about religion somewhat anyways??

Or oil or politics or money or empire building ....  conspiracy theorists invent yer worst...

Heres mine:

Cover - Didnt do much for me I have to say
Dredd - I agree with Watcher, the art was pretty poor.  The story, however, I liked.  Pretty tongue in cheek and had another of those references to present day (child deliquency).  Although my one gripe is that I would have loved to have seen Dredd getting badly hurt by the kids :-)
Future Shock - A filler, did nought for me, at all.
SinDex - I dislike SinDex, they leave me colder than a dead fish in ice.
the Scrap - Nice little story this.  Lots to kep you interested, nice parallel story line running in this episode.  My favourite new strip for a while.
Rogue- Some souther soldiers die, rogue comes to the rescue.  Thats it.  The place is very nu earthy.  But I really want the Biochips to come to life, Mad Bagman, Gunnar losing it when killing, Helm pinnig over Venus.

The stories seem t be lacking something, could be character.  Wether that is Nu-Earth (fort neuro) or the biochips (Bagman blues) I cant really say.

Megazine / Re: Megazine 4.16

I agree PVS.  Very good megazine, which has been going from strength to strength recently.

Radlander was great, reminded me of Dead Man.  Pobably because of the Rdigeway art and partial cursed earth setting.

The three new strips are of very high quality, Middenface is excellent.  You can see that Alan Grant is a Scotsman, its full of little references and the art is good.  Cinnebar is a RT classic.  Scarlet Traces, could be truly fantastic.  Good Art, nice little plot.  I like the page titles and the little details (like the aformentioned pigeon catchers).

Durham is good, liked joni and the Gronk, art looks like its in a manga stylee.

Bendatti also seems to moving along very nicely indeed.

My only point is this
Rogue was brought back as part of the summer offensive.  He was slotted in beside Strontium Dog, Dredd and the VC's.  I dont think that Fr1day would have fitted into this.  Of course if we had brought back stories from Fr1days era, then it would probably work better.

Personally I prefered the original Rogue, I liked the strangeness of Nu-Earth and I also like his bio-chips.  This is something that hasnt been really touched upon in Gordon Rennies latest update, maybe well get some more of that later.....

Written by Milligan and Hewlitt (same guy who did the gorillaz and some TV animation)

Throway comedy series about a charater with mad hair (honest :-)), if my memory serves my correctly it was very funny in places and was pretty irrevalent.  Im sure the others will fill you in on the blanks.
