Well, I see it as good 'cos it's entertaining me a hell of a lot more than the other series did. Perhaps it's just because the more irritating aspects of the strip have been toned down?

I agree with frank here.  The first few runs of B&K were not bad, funny in places.  Irritating in others.  For example the humour was focussed towards students, the injokes and film refs.  where all a bit annoying.  But each run (series) improved it and this one has once again improved imeasurably.

In Si's defence, its completely different to anything he has written before (mostly moody intellectual pieces) and a straight forward comedy strip probably at the other end of the spectrum.  However, hes currently proving very versatile.

B+K - Whats this? a Kerrang crossover? that's clearly Pandora. Also, i've just realised who a certain boarder reminds me of...

Mr Brunt could certianly do a passable lookalike to Mr Kawl......

Maybe Im the first....  Ill keep spoilers to a minimum.

COver - great Flint ABC Warriors Covers.  Apes and robots.  Almost as much a Banker as Pirates, Undead and collosal squids.  It doesnt disapoint.

Dredd - Is Dredd.  Nice wagneresque names.  Lots of action, a bit of dredd sneakery.  Nice art too.

Cabalistics Inc - Feckin Great.  Lots of things going on.  More questions than answers as usual, a pierced tit, demons, undead.  What more do you want?

Bec & Kawl - This improves each time.  Its not great, but it gives me a chuckle and it makes sense.

ABC Warriors - Cant Pat just put us out of our miseries and reveal the bloody shadow warriors.  Nice fight, a mysterious killer and less exposition.  Mills back on form.

Stront - nice episode.  A great line.  "Run for you life Feefers!  Here comes the bad guys!"  Deals with outlaws, I suspect Johnny is on the double cross here and Headley has a price on his head.

Really fecking good prog

General / Re: Time to rest Dredd?
05 August, 2004, 04:12:35 AM
My gut reaction is no.  Ive read the comic since I was 9 years old and well in 25 years Dredds almost always been in it.  A few progs dropped a year, yeah I can cope with that.  But a long term rest?  No.  Im not closed to it, but unless theres a huge drop in the quality of Dredd and theres not been that for a while  People talk a lot about The Snozzburns, it was one Prog ffs...  Personally its hardly a reason for dropping one off Dredds is it....  It wasnt even a Wagner story....

I think the problem here is filler.  Do we want reasonable single episode dredds or do we want something else to fit the bill.  Id prefer single episode Dredds, most future shocks are mediocre, Tales of Telguuth is humdrum, Atavar, Asylum?  No, not for me.

The list that TPS has given us is a quality prog, no doubts.   But none of these stories have really hung around (thus giving an improvement in quality IMO)for an extended run recently.  If you look at one off Dredds theres some great quality there.  Bury my knee at wounded heart?  Rennies Bar Story?  All good quality all one episode.  As long as the quality remains reasonably high (and therell always be dips) lets keep Dredd staple.

Heh.

I found it rather preachy, all this there something else out there (like a god) just did my head in.  I was disapointed after watching sixth sense and unbreakable.  I thought it was a bit weak.

I like the look of the village saw a preview of it a couple of weeks ago.  Nice ideas, a good cast.  Cant be too bad?  Can it?

I think the name being spelt wrong is a common one Im sure someone else mentioned it.  I phoned up last week as I hadnt had a copy of 1399 and she sorted it out straight away or at least after she spent 10 mins or so looking for my name, which was split up and spelt wrong. Plodun someone had typed in.  What made it worse was that Id just done renewed my subs and thought there may have been a problem with my Credit Card (it had expired just after paying - two or three days after)

To cut a long story short, she sorted it and my missing prog arrived a few days later.  So Hurray for Denise.  As I told her at the time Ive subbed for a long time and never had a prog go missing.
