Bournemouth is Stag and Hen Party hell...  Locals tend to avoid the centre in the summer as lots of pissed people being lurid and aggressive is not the best way to have a good evening

Parents do need to have a degree of responsiblility to know what their kids are doing, it probably does get harder as they get older (mine are still kinda young), but it means taking time with your kids, which sadly many people do not seem to do nowadays.

Slightly off topic.  When you realise that Family tax credits threshlod is 54k a year (ie your entitled to a credit if you earn up to 54K) and the average wage in the country is around 26k.  It says a lot about how goverment views family life (they expect you to earn 54k for a decent standard of living).

They want to pass a lot onto parents but all parents have to work really hard to get a decent standard for their children and themselves, which leaves little time for their children and thus creates a huge vicious cirle that we need to break.

My point before I waffle is that, computer game consoles make it easy for parents to say.
"FUCK Im tired.  Their upstairs playing games, they are safe.  Ill sit down put my feet up and have a cup of tea before I have to do household chores, more work, etc etc etc."

Having said that its something my son and I do.  Mess about on the PS2

Actually I agree with Gary too.  But its a bit harsh to say that the parents are to bame (although they are looking for something to focus their greif on - which is understandable) coz they let their son play a game (did they let him or did they know) that was certificated 18.

All Id say is when you were say 14-17 how many times did you drink alchohol?  How many times did you watch an 18 film?  How much P0rn had you bought or stolen at this point?  All of which are illegal until you are 18.  Most teenagers do this sort of thing, I suppose you just need to know what your kids are doing most of the time.

All Im saying is that its easy for us to focus on the fact that they were **gasp** underage playing a game they shouldnt.  This is what I did when I was a teenager (breaking the rules), was I the ony one?  And proclaim that the parents are too blame.  Parenting is actually rather difficult (the most difficult job in the world?), no one really teaches you how to do it and often things you said you wont do (before your a parent) you end up doing.  These poor people have lost a child and I doubt rationality and reason have anything to do with their call to have the game removed....

Im not actually sure it matters whose ripping off whom.  Its not like Authors dont read books or watch TV or like musicians listen to music, wed really want them to come out of a hermatically sealed bubble and just write something really original dont we.

The only thing I care about is wether I like the story.  I like Si's stuff for the most part, thats all that realy matters to me.  Heck all the things Moose says about Si, I could say the same about Mills or Carey or Millar or Morrison.  None of which really have floated my boat in the main.  But like most people I say its an anthology, sometimes stuffs printed I dont like, I wait around for a few months and its gone (with the exception of sin dex who love to hang around like a bad spell).  Im waffling and its not really a defence of Si, more of a defence of 2000ad's policy of trying new talent and new things to see what works.

I hope this makes sense, but Ive had the best part of a couple of bottles of wine

Isnt Narco Edgars robotic assistant?
Id like to see an extension of Total Wars campaign, with the help of some agent funding it.  PJ Maybe?  Sino Cit?  East Meg?

Hmmm coming to thing of it we could have funding from the inside, an enemy within scenario, that fits well with real world parrallels.  Im waffling Ill stop now.
