I dont think anyone said they were good, just that comparing them with real rock musicians from the 70s and 80s (who I hated with a a passion when I was young, I was more of an indie kid then) is really unfair.  Some of the posts have the Pistols and led zepplin together type thing.  The Pistols hated zepplin and sorts of Prog 70s rock, thats what they were rebelling against.

Comparing them with boney m or shawaddywaddyor rick astley, etc might be fairer....

Thank you Byron thats my point exactly.  New music isnt inherently shite, thats what my dad said to me when he heard my first Sonic Youth album or my Cure Album....  Im not going to be my Dad.....

Go back to your Smash hits grandad... Never Mind the Bollocks remains one of greatest (and most influential) albums of all times. And the tunes rocked.

Yes I agree.

What I was pointing out is that no one talks of the sex pistols like say Steve Vai or Flea or John Bonham.

Thing is and I dont like busted or mcfly.  we can laugh, but The Sex Pistols werent exactly great tunesmiths and neither are many of the bands that went on to become majorly succesful.

Ive come to thinking that maybe the stuff I listened to in my youth (while fresh and innovative to me) wasnt like that at all and they progressed further.  Taking the p1ss out of teenagers who want to be in a band (and make money from it) is a bit easy....

Remember most of us are older and we look at things differently from the target audience (teenage girls)....  I refuse to be a superior old fart saying "in my day things were much better"
How often was I p1ssed off at my dad for saying that...

Sorry rant over.....  and Busted are still crap

Help! / Re: Recommend me some software?......
22 July, 2004, 06:37:04 PM
But isnt there a case (and I understand that companies are there to solely make a profit), that copywrite theft of software, music, etc actually adds to the price of a piece of software or music.  In other words companies maximise their profits by saying, "At least 10,000 units of this will be pirated, well factor that cost into the sale price."

Now Im not for a minute saying that companies are not saying I wonder whats the most we can get people to pay for this and Im not saying that they arent greedy.  But this can and probably does have an effect on the market price.

Once again Im playing devils advocate here....

1.  Pink is the new black, brown, beige of the fashion world (according to the Sunday Times), good if trendy choice.
2.  Glamour magazine?  Nah you want cosmo, basically how to get a shag dressed up as independence for women.
3.  Those of us who are married know this already
4.  Benefit.  My wife swears by it.....

But these are the exception rather than the rule, most kids movies are pretty poor.  I know I watch a lot of them.....

I dont know.  Ever since a Thunderbirds movie was announced I knew it was going to be really crap.  Its made by a guy who starred in the worst SF TV series of recent times (oh OK not the worst but really poor), although the casting is pretty good in places.  Anyway, Ill wait til it comes on TV now....  thanks :)

Lymington is in the New Forest or at least not to far from there.  There are wild ponies and wildlife and all that sh!t there.  Dorset is brilliant for all that.
