Bowie's Life on Mars is actually what it's been named after. The song has been used to good effect in the original series.

I don't really know about this. Sam Tyler (US) doesn't seem that vulnerable in a way John Simm made believable.

Check out yet another version here:

Or it might be a political move after the fall out with Ian Gibson...

Either way I read it this morning and it was great. Even teh filler 'Maze Dumoir' was good. Did we see more of her after this?

I rather enjoyed it all. Even if the explanation for it all was rushed in a 20 second breathless explanation.

Is Jenny (rather easy on the eye) set for a spin-off then?

They've all been pretty good so far in fact. Donna's  character has calmed down from the first few episodes (where the writers probably wanted to appeal to Tate's existing fan base in order to get them to stay and watch).

Probably Zenith.
Let's have a go at starting him again in 2008.

Having lived in London for seven years now I have seen a steady improvement in matters under Ken.

Now we've got Boris. I weep for my adoptive city.

The only good thing is that Boris as Mayor can't be as bad as I fear. It couldn't possibly be as bad as I fear...

"Weren't they actually stationed on the blimp as a human shield?"

Cripes! I missed that.

That's because I appear to have made it up. Sorree.

"the dirty Volgs had made something like 200 Londoners effectively 'responsibile' for the blimp so in the case of its destruction, they'd be executed on the spot."

Weren't they actually stationed on the blimp as a human shield?

Well as he pointed out, there is form in that department! He also didn't say that it would end the same, he said it was heading in that direction.

While I can understand you wanting to defend your work, which some people really enjoy, I'm not sure if you're actually being successful. To be honest, you're coming over a little John Byrne.

Yes, because Life on Mars is the first thing ever to feature world-shifting, perception-questioning, time-traveling or coma-fantasy plot points.

Uhm...

Fair enough, but it was the most recent (especially in the mainstream) and does have a similar vibe at the moment. Plus I wasn't the only one that made the connection.

But I loved Life on Mars and I'm enjoying Dead Signal.

I've stopped reading Dead Eyes. It just isn't worth the effort.

Dead Signal has gone all Sam Tyler, but I'm expecting another twist. Life on Mars was a bit too mainstream to blatantly copy, so there's still some good reading to be had here. Liked the full page panels too. Nicely done.

10 Seconders is good, but very disjointed. I think the front cover is ace, so I'm not sure what you lot are complaining about.

Dredd is really good and funny. Rennie's best in a while.

Dredd moving along nicely and with a sense of humour.
10 Seconders was wicked.
Savage - a problem here is that Steak Knife looks too much like Bill himself in this artwork. Hard to work out what is going on.
Dead Eyes - This is just a load of pretentious/boring rubbish. But should I be surprised? I couldn't even be arsed finishing this episode and that really doesn't happen often.
Dead Signal - Whoa! Where did that come from?

Seemed alright to me. TBC next week.

Not looking forward to another full scale alien invasion of earth that everyone watches on TV. Can this not be under the radar or something?

I reckon Dredd's got the potential to become one of those under appreciated classics. It's a solid and original location with four major sets of protagonists and Dredd being a bastard. This is filler without being filler.

Savage - I was having trouble in previous series working out who was what and if old Bill was actually making any difference, but I was enjoying the ride. Somehow I have even less of a clue what's going on now, I don't know who anyone is, let alone care, and they don't seem to be making any difference. Sort it out Tharg.

The comparisons of Dead Eyes to Finn must just be because of the artwork, as I quite enjoyed Finn. This has been full of Talking Heads, which might work with better dialogue. While I don't know what's going on here, at least Smith doesn't expect us to know what's going on (unlike in Savage). How did Stig end up being boring as WELL?

Dead Signal (surely Tharg could have changed one of the Dead names? or at least made sure they didn't overlap) is holding my interest at the moment. It will need to start getting to the point soon though.

What's left..? 10 Seconders. I was a big fan of the first series and am enjoying this one thus far, but again I aint entirely sure what's happening. Is that soldier dude dead now? Good, original stuff in my opinion.
