A wee bit of snooping on this site reveals that the cover example has no date shown on the cover (although, not surprisingly, no mention of the spine!)... looks like there are two versions of that annual...

Hey Gordon

I picked up a copy of The Hammer Story from a shop down in Brighton a few months back, which you can have if you still need a copy

Hmmm, does that mean it really really is going to happen, Andy? (or anyone who can put my poor fevered mind at rest)

How far down the line does a film's production have to get before it's safe from being scrapped altogether?

Hmmm, kind of reminds me of Dave Gorman's assertion that a Slinky on an 'up' escalator would be in a state of perpetual motion.

Genius!

So how DO you make an infinite number of Vampire Slayers (I just know I'm going to be sorry I asked!)

Just an idle thought, this, but it'd be interesting to know...

The rights to Dan Dare are now held by the Dan Dare Corporation, not by 2000AD, right?

But who owns the rights to the other characters from the original Eagle (PC 49, Jack O' Lantern, Harris Tweed and all the rest?)

Any Ideas?

Oh, I don't know, you know....

Some of the recent covers have been a bit on the poo side, it has to be said, but I can't be alone in thinking that Harrison's cover for Meg 205 rocked! And I'm not normally a big fan of his work!

Great image of Middenface, and a tagline that actually made me chuckle!

Too right- Button Man would rock as a film- it's so cinematic anyway, you can almost see it up on the screen already... and, strangely enough, I'm not sure there's that much of it that Hollywood could balls up, except perhaps trying to make Harry a more sympathetic character.

You'd need to keep that uncertainty as to whether he is, at heart, a not too bad kind of a guy trying to survive in a harsh world, or an out-and-out, stone-cold, psychopathic killer.

One thing I loved about the series was the fact that we never were quite sure about the kind of guy Harry was right up until the final scene of the third story.

In terms of ease of filming, it'd have to be Rogue, wouldn't it? Bit of blue body paint, and film on a really misty day, you'd be laughing...

Ah, 'tis all in the use of straws... no bubbles, you see. Mind you, a lot went down the shirt, not the throat... but it seemed to count!

When I was at Uni I completed a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale in 4 seconds. Gave me a bloody awful feeling....

Jock's Dredd would look fantastic, wouldn't it? Mind you, Jock's work on pretty much anything would look pretty damn spiffy :)

"If there's any truth in what you say then there could be problems with any Dredd animation
free from Disney involvement ever seeing the light of day."

Yeah, it does sound a bit far-fetched, doesn't it? As far as I recall (and, as I say, unless my memory is playing big tricks) it was a throw-away comment made in a Tooth editorial (would have been during Dave Bishop's reign, I think). But, if true, it would seem unlikely that Disney would have much interest in the venture. Or maybe.... Judge Dredd/Basil the Great Mouse Detective: Judgement on London? Maybe not...

I'm pretty sure I can't be making it all up, but I'm sure someone else on the board must be able to back me up or shoot me down... Mssrs Bishop or Diggle being the obvious choices!

It may all be different these days, but I remember reading a few years back that the rights to do a Dredd animated series were now held by the Walt Disney Corporation, not by 2000AD.

All something to do with the very complicated legal toing and froing after the death of Robert Maxwell, I think, or I might be mis-remembering.
