On the whole, I'd rather have song references than movie or TV references. Generally, they're just amusing little in-jokes that wash over you if you're not in the know. Whereas references to other narrative fiction are far more likely to cross the line from homage to plagiarism.

Great cover. I just hope the number of strips as songs is kept to a minimum. As someone who actually writes songs, that kind of strip too often feels off to me and only very rarely works.
Agreed. Wagner and Grant seemed fond of these when they were writing together, but I was never a fan. Hopefully, it will be more like the original Comic Rock, where Nemesis the Warlock was supposedly inspired by Going Underground. If you say so....

Rumour has it, this was cut down from an hour long to its present running time. I've a feeling that restoring the missing footage wouldn't fix all the problems with this, but it might fix some of them, making it less rushed and more coherent.

Books & Comics / Re: Shift Comic - new UK anthology

Sorry if this is slightly off-topic, but does anyone know what happened to Comic Scene's "Saturday comics box" of 12 new anthology titles? I signed up to crowdfund it, and they seem happy to keep taking my money every month, but it's all gone very quiet on that front.

i mean if i were a sarcy asshole i would say uncle pat is trying to figure out how to make a nft out of his work and thats why its taking too long.

eh but i would totally never do that....nope no sir not bitter at all that one of my writing heroes is a nft supporter....nope no sir
Sad, but not surprising. It has always been hard to separate out the righteous anger and fearlessness that powered his best work from the sometimes dubious company he keeps.

They certainly weren't finished at the point when it had become obvious that Bisley had just given up all interest in it.
That doesn't necessarily contradict my "years ago".

I know that some writers, like Mills and John Wagner, like to edit against the art; that is, take one more pass at the script once the art is complete to make sure the words match the pictures. If that's where we're at, then it sounds like Clint has finished.

Last I'd heard, Pat himself hadn't finished writing the scripts.

Did he mention that on his Twitter?
Don't think so, though I haven't checked. I was under the impression that the scripts were written years ago.

After reading Mills twitter related to the Joe Pineapple series I do not think it will be ready this year:

On subject of late-running series, I should mention Joe Pineapples. Simon first talked to me about his idea in September 2014. I wrote first treatment in December 2014. Currently, Simon has completed his two colour episodes. Clint continues. I know he's completed some, but ..

I thought I'd remembered reading a while back that he was up to around episode 7, but I may have imagined that. After having to postpone the final episode of Dragontamer for a couple of weeks, I suspect that Tharg will want all 10 episodes ready to go before running it.

I don't even know if Chris Rock knew that her hair style was more of a condition than a choice.
These events are heavily scripted. You'd think somebody would have said "are you sure about this?"

Listening to the Wagner interview right now. It really is brilliant stuff. I imagine some of the more right wing readers will not like what they hear though.
One guy in the comments on YouTube today claims to be a long-time Strontium Dog fan and claims he's "always been a Kreeler at heart". Reading does not necessarily mean understanding.

Yes, i think this is more possible than this tv show which has seemingly ground to a halt now.
I thought I remembered reading that the Rogue movie was in limbo too, but I'm not sure about that.

Caught the politics one, the next Gen one, Mills one and was interrupted in the Wagner one due to dinner (try and catch this on the YouTube later).
I was the same. I got hungry, and because it was the last panel, I wasn't sure how much longer there was left to run. Only about 10 minutes, as it turned out, but I didn't know that at the time.

Apparently, the panels will later go up on YouTube.
That's one advantage that a virtual convention has over a real one. Back in ye olden days, if two panels you wanted to see at UKCAC or wherever were on at the same time, then you were out of luck.

Ah, I just had another look, and hadn't actually noticed that you could change the sort order! That does make it easier....

It's not a massive chore to change the sort order. I agree that 'newest first' should probably be the default but, in the scheme of things, I don't find that extra click once a week to be the most outrageous inconvenience.
It's not a massive inconvenience, but it's an inconvenience nonetheless. It makes finding this week's prog more difficult than it needs to be, for no particular reason that I can see.
