This would make a neat little book...a 'comportment' of sorts.
What do you think?

Could be a good thing to pitch to 2000AD.

Great thread...surprised nobody thought of this before.

'You're doing twenty, creep'

'T-T-Twenty years? For breach?'

'Breach was before your pals took the plunge. Now you're an accessory to seven deaths'
Sunday Night Fever (and what a blinder of a story!)

Suspected Wiffin Gas employee is murdered, a crowd forms...'You know what this means?'
'Huh?' 'What?'

'THERE"S A JOB GOIN" AT WIFFINS!!!'

I've always had a soft spot for "I've got them . . .I'm just not scratching" from that old annual story about the highly contagious bug  :)

I was just about to type that!

But I recall it as a discussion between two judges who are busily scratching, infested like everyone else, some citizens are leaping to their deaths to scratch the itch. Only Dredd is not scratching.

Judge 1 'How come Dredd ain't got 'em?'
Judge 2 'He's got them, he's just not scratching.'

Ok this takes some description which takes the sting out somewhat... But when I read this I remember really laughing.

Dredd and Anderson have gone forward in time and MC1 is destroyed. As they try and piece together what happened to the city via a video slug  - Anderson is mentioned as 'Head of Psi-Division'...so she has discovered she will be promoted in the future, delighted she playfully taps Dredd and boasts...

'Whaddya know- I got a promotion'.

But in that same moment psi-divison comes under attack and Anderson and Dredd watch as the future head of Psi is murdered, her head melting like a candle.

Dredd says only  'Congratulations'.

Film Discussion / Re: Dredd (2012)

Not sure this is the right thread but.. A few months ago I saw a Die Antwoord video in which the building that doubled as the base and stairs of HOJ appeared. So what.

Just now watching this video I see Die Antwoord standing in the plaza that is the basis of Peach Trees (12:54). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgRUlVZbpcg

Again, so what. Only this picture was taken years ago AND when the band were known as 'Max Normal' or 'Max Normal TV'...and I think before Dredd was shot. There are also two scenes earlier in this doc that look strikingly similar to the road and underpass where Dredd takes out the slo-mo haulers at the start of the film.

They are clearly fans of 2000AD. But if they had advance knowledge of the set locations...or if it's just a coincidence, no sure.

Die Antwoord will soon be shooting Chappie about a domestic droid...with Neill Blomkamp.
Watch out for shades of Walter.

Just wanted to share that as trivia...although it may just be trivial.

QuoteNo, this is the comic which found a a smiley face on Mars

The weird thing was, Alan Moore didn't even know there was a real smiley face on Mars when he wrote that bit. He found out afterwards.  Crazy shit right there

That really is strange. Presumably Dave Gibbons knew, his smiling crater has identical regolith and similar placement to other nearby craters.

Ah...that's the one that came to mind, but I thought it couldn't be...thinking Cursed Earth etc would come on line long before 'Death'.

The CE cover seems so much so much older somehow, can't shake that.

What a cover.

There was one Titan collection before either of those, simply entitled Judge Dredd - it included a selection of Bolland-drawn strips, including lots of the Luna-1 stuff and the original judge Death story.

Aha, Can you recall the cover art at all?...I vaguely recall seeing the Cursed Earth cover and being strangely drawn to it...although at that point I had no idea what Dredd was....

...by Titan as a teaser for the first of their Judge Caligula reprint albums. The title of those albums is the only time Cal has been referred to as Caligula.

Thanks. I've amended the post accordingly.

Re:The day the music died - it does make sense.

Am I right, Cursed Earth was the first Titan reprint and then Caligula the second Dredd book from Titan? ...or were there 2 CE volumes?..I got the Cal one when it came out, loved it. At that point I don't think I'd actually read any of the Cal stories ...as I scowered the land (with a pathological obsession) for back issues. Weeks in to my quest and a pal tells me his brother had quit reading 2000AD...and there were boxes of them I could have in his loft. Jackpot!
