One for my fellow Republicans:
I was tasked with purchasing Garth Brooks tickets for my lovely missus and her sisters this morning, and like many others, faced the most frustrating two hour trudge of my life; staring at an unmoving and unforgiving Ticketmaster loading screen.
I reported my failure at 11.15am, and suffice to say, she hasn't taken it well (she hasn't spoken to me all day!).

She's obviously a huge fan (I'm not- I couldn't name more than two songs the guy ever sang, and am a bit taken aback by what I can only call a frenzy to get tickets for these gigs).
If any Irish boarders out there have 2 - 5 tics for sale, I'd really appreciate you helping out a fellow boarder.
Prices on some ticket websites are ranging from €300 to €800!
Don't be cruel (hey, that was Elvis wasn't it)?

Seriously though, this is a genuine request.

Cheers,
Richard

* let's be honest, how many series/stories live up to that standard of sustained viewing?

Fair point.

Leave those Starr crossed lovers to their console commands, Minkyboy.

Was perusing Midtowns listings for next week and noticed that Marvel are re-launching Paul Cornell's Wolverine with Vol 6 (???? When did that happen?).

I genuinely cannot get over the apathy I have for this title.

There's only so many hours to devote to TV. 3 hours I can give easily but 48 is a big ask.

Yet you did for Breaking Bad didn't you?
I know exactly where you're coming from though- there's a certain aversion to starting a new box-set that you're quite sure you're going to like.
It's a personal time and financial commitment that seems almost like a chore beforehand, yet when you're knee deep in the machinations of season 4 it beggars belief that you ever considered not watching this great show.
As an aside, I've been the owner of Boardwalk Empire season 1 on Blu since Christmas 2012, and it's sat there on the shelf unwatched and unloved, waiting for that 3-day stomach bug sick leave that's always just round the corner.

Sorry for the bum steer, neebs.

No bum steer at all Sauchie, I loved every minute of this- almost three hours of genuine hilarious entertainment.
It's been a long time since I left the cinema feeling absolutely satisfied with what I'd just watched.

I'm confused, where exactly in continuity/timeline are we supposed to be in ABC Warriors? I'm guessing this is just before they had Mek-Quake commited and then went off to recruit Zippo? If so, doesn't it seem a bit strange that Happy Shrapnel hasn't been mentioned by anyone in the strip for the past 20 years despite him being alive?

Actually Pat's been playing a bit of a long game here - the gang have been mentioning Tubal as their armourer/mechanic since Langely first started on the strip back in 2007.

Yeah, was just gonna mention that- Tubal Caine has been name dropped more times than Dr. Dre on Eminem's 1st album.

You're not the only one enjoying Ulysees Sweet by the way Lee- I'm digging the whole package.

im sure the next chapter will be Morrigun flashbacks before she/it gets blasted out of the Warriors and we'll have to go through this all again seen from a different perspective.

I'm waiting for the Mad Ronn and Hitaki flashbacks!

Both Year One & MAJD are well worth a look for any boarders who have resisted thus far.
Bargain price exotic Thrill Power.

Regarding the 'regular' IDW series- personally I genuinely wouldn't bother downloading them even if they were free.

Miracleman 2; Still haven't got round to reading the first issue of this re-release yet. This one has more Moore, Alan Davis, and is two quid cheaper- result.
Saga 18; I'm a few issues behind on the read pile, but sticking with this stellar comic.
Transformers Regeneration One 98; Hurtling towards its climax, maybe at a bit too close to breakneck speed, as The Adventurer mentions. I'm slightly puzzled as to why Furman introduced Jhiaxus as a major player so late in the game- there were more than enough (literally decades long) plot threads to carry this to its conclusion.
Superior Spider-Man 26; Also heading to a conclusion- I'll enjoy Otto's last few issues at the helm.

I'd be in a similar position - Origins: Wolverine was one of the worst movies I've ever seen (it got switched off after half an hour because life's too short), but I actually really like First Class.

It's a bit rough around the edges (understandable given that it was made in a ridiculous time-frame - less than a year from script to screen iirc), but it's a thoroughly enjoyable movie that is worth watching for Michael Fassbender's Magneto alone. An underrated movie, much better than most of the Marvel movies and up there with X-Men 2 imho.

Indeed, after The Last Stand & Origins you'd be forgiven for never wanting to see an X film again.
First Class & The Wolverine, while no masterpieces, are streets ahead of their predecessors, and worth a look.

My (and probably most others) rankings would be;

X-Men 2
X-Men
X-Men: First Class
The Wolverine
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
X-Men 3: The Last Stand

1) Bob Molesworth- Headache Tharg
2) Uncle Fester- Cosmic Tharg
3) Archie- Flintish Tharg

If I walked into my LCS and noticed any of these three were the cover to a Future Shocks collection I'd simply nod in approval.

HM) Bolt 01- Ancient Tharg (I'm a sucker for a great lighting effect).

Great stuff all round.

Hey Wake, why no heads up on the flood of new Flint art on your website???
Two of my favourite pieces have been snapped up already!

Sorry about that. I normally do post here too, but there were already quite a few people interested and some of the pages were pre-reserved.

I also have some cool Zombo pages that aren't up yet (because I haven't confirmed which stories they come from).

Cheers,

Wake

All is forgiven Wake- I received my slice of Flinty goodness in the post yesterday.

One of the more horrifying Day of Chaos pages, and beautifully rendered.
I only wish I could have afforded two!
