Games / Re: PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X mega-thread!

Nothing against Microsoft / Xbox, but for me the 360 generation AAA titles like Halo and Gears of War kinda peaked at the time, and I haven't felt the need to upgrade and play the sequels.
PlayStation exclusives always held a bit more interest for me too - Uncharted, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man, God of War - to name some of the best titles.

That said - I never got to play / replay the legendary Banjo Kazooie games since they went Xbox exclusive!

Frankly I just can't see myself ever spending £70 on a game

Game prices for PS and Xbox always consistently and significantly drop in my experience, I wouldn't get a new release for either system unless I really wanted to play it.

Nintendo AAA titles on the other hand hold their value like gold bullion.

I can remember a lot about this year and it was glorious.

2000AD aside, some solid gold runs in Uncanny X-Men and Amazing Spider-Man that year too...If I close my eyes I can still smell the newsprint.

Games / Re: Evercade Console

Just noticed that Evercade will be launching a VS console in November, prices starting at less than a ton; https://www.amazon.co.uk/Evercade-VS-Retro-Starter-Pack/dp/B095Z17NFT/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=evercade+console&qid=1629808568&sr=8-3

I've been impressed with this overall, a great range of aneurysm-inducing-difficulty games available to *enjoy* all over again.

Have to say, the PS5 is an impressive bit of kit.

Anyone else play the free 'Astro's Playroom'? I had no idea that every PS5 would come with a pre-installed game of this quality.

Aside from being a great little 3D platformer, it also awakened a slight tinge of PlayStation nostalgia in my reptilian brain, normally 100% reserved for Nintendo products.

The X-Files, Season 11. Self-indulgent piffle from start to finish. Just awful.

Gawd, how could they get it so wrong?

Still enjoyed the bonkers sushi bar episode, and Mulder's sigh of resignation when he had to use his reading specs.

I'll also add a final thought from my recent repition of all that on the 2000AD FB groups: Personally, I'm happy to pay for four progs a year that aren't targetted at me, if it improves the financial health of the product as a whole and makes it more likely that we'll continue to get the other 40-odd progs for the rest of the year.

This is also how I feel. I do not mind 4 regen issues if this means that I will still be able to read the regular prog.

Unapologetically no fan of the Regened publication method or the majority of the content, even if I can appreciate the rational.

As an aside - was there any actual talk regarding the inclusion of Regened being relevant to the continued publication of 2000AD?

Also looking forward to The Alienist.

Is it returning, or only a reprint in an upcoming Meg floppy?

Eoin Coveney is a remarkable artist, shame we haven't seen more from him in the Prog regardless.

Colin MacNeil commission! I asked for Johnny and Wulf fighting Nazis, Colin came up with the rest. An homage to The Shicklgruber Grab, one of my favorite Stront stories. I honestly couldn't be more pleased, very happy how it turned out.

Really nice piece Rogue, MacNeil certainly delivered.

Anyone seen or heard anything of Tordelback lately? Noticed he's been pretty quiet of late and has removed his Twitter account. Hope the fellah is doing alright all things going on and all that...

Noticed TB's absence in the last few months, and a few other regular boarders too - Greg M, Joe Soap and Prof Bear come to mind.
The loss of regular exuberant commentary from Bolt is still an open wound as it is.

C'mon lads - we can only get through Skip Tracer if we're in this together.

My quest to find every hidden horror gem on Amazon Prime and Netflix before finally giving in and permanently subscribing to Shudder continues; I discovered Cold Moon last night.

By no means the best horror I've seen this year, but it had a few thing going for it, cast included - the always excellent Frank Whaley (58) who's hairline retention will be a personal aspiration in the coming decade, an underused but great Christopher Lloyd and the first time a role was tailor made for Josh Stewart's "evil bastard face" - hey, he's probably a lovely guy in real life.
< Those eyes >

Another positive was the plot tempo - it moves along at a steady beat, answering questions quite quickly, and killing off cast members with visceral glee.
Some spooky Fx (the cycling ghost in particular) and a satisfying conclusion topped off an unexpectedly enjoyable hour and a half.

YouTube adverts that make you wait 5 seconds before you can skip them.

Only ever happens when you're;

A) In the shower.
B) Driving at high speed on a motorway.

I've a few of these, must haves for any Biz fan.

Not exactly a 'Sketchbook' but Bisleys Scrapbook from '93 is worth adding to your collection.

So some, but not all of, Tor Cyan. Odd. A pity they couldn't fit in the other bits—we're missing, what, six episodes?

Bout a half dozen episodes each of Colin Wilson / Jock.

Shame not to close it out with the Rahab storyline, particularly the very last page, and its callback to Remembrance Day.

Don't think I've ever read a Dejah Thoris comic.

Will try one of Abnett's next time I pop into my LCS.
