General / Re: Angel Heart Meets Roger Rabbit...

 I know this may sound stupid but do future shocks have to be futuristic? I was aiming for an alternative fifties feel, I'm a big fan of the Kim Newman Anno Dracula stories and I've always liked the way he entwines real people with fictional charchters from the time the novels are set.

 My 2nd ever futuere shock, again it's rough but I kind of like it, all criticism gladly accepted.Heart of Duckness

Frame 1:

Traditional 1950's hardboiled detective office, door with glass window with "Jack Foulkes, Investigator" written on glass, outside view door slightly ajar speech can be heard from inside:
 "I've heard you may be the man I need Mr. Foulkes."
"Please, call me Jack."

Frame 2 cuts to inside

Shabby office, chair each side of desk, bottle of Whiskey on desk. Two people;

1.   Jack Foulkes, male late thirties heavily built but not quite fat, handsome in battered kind of way;

2.   Dolores Moreau traditional Femme Fatale elegantly dressed, holding a cigarette, dark hair in a bob.

"I'm Dolores Moreau my Father was founder of Moreau Studios."
"The funny animal films?"
"We're trying to move away from that but yes, Dillon Duck, Randy Racoon..."

Frame 3

 Foulkes reaches forward to light Dolores cigarette

"How can I help Miss Moreau?"

"My brother Karl has disappeared, he was my Fathers assistant and with out him Father has spiralled into depression."

"Could be a lady involved?"

Frame 4

Close up on Dolores face

"No for Karl the work was everything, you must help find my brother  Mr. Foulkes. I'll pay twice your rate and help any way I can but you must find him."

Frame 5

Picture both talking no speech
Voice over
"In my line you get to know when someones lying and I sure as hell knew Miss Moreau wasn't telling me everything but  I needed the money and she was a lot prettier than the repo men who were my only other chance of company tonight."

Frame  6

Foulkes and Moreau standing in a doorway of elegant front room which has been thoroughly trashed.
 "Have the cops been here yet?"
"No we wanted to keep things quite."

"She seemed genuinely shocked insisted she had to show me something, after that we did'nt speak for the rest of the journey."

Frame 10

Large metal gate sign on top in style of old Warner Brothers shield but with Moreau Studios written on it. Gate is opening for car.

Frame 11

Walking down corridor together "When my Father came here from the old country he saw that the future was in entertainment, not science and so he built this resource"

Frame 12

Opens to large 2/3 page picture of steril laboratory, two ,metallic slabs in centre either side crates containing large animals, onm on of the slabs a large naked man, top of head sawn off, but laid out cleanly.

Frame 16

 Inspired by discussing war comics, I've just written a five page script for the first part of a (horrible phrase) "re-imagining" of Fiends of the Eastern Front. It's probably not as bad as it may sound but I was wondering where the best place to post it would be. I've previously posted a future shock here before but I really should have asked first. Who do I have to ask, and is are you chaps interested in looking at it?

General / Doomlord

 I think every body loves the big guy Vek, lets have him back, not in photo stories though please.
 Possible Crossover:

"I am Doomlord master of life, bringer of death, Protector of Earth."

Finn "We don't need your alien male oppressive Mother Earth raping ways, in fact we woirship the Earht Goddess and Khaos and..."

Doomlord "Ring to disintegrate."

I'ld pay good money to see that.

 Colonel, are you sure thats your rank and your not an Ubergruppenfuhrer? Ah National Socialists, nice uniforms pity about the number of german soldiers killed because it took them so long to ask their officers anything;
" We are under fire  Mein Ubergrupp.." bang "...enfuhrer" Thud.

 We need Nazi's fighting Russians by Wagner amd Ezquerra, it's definitly the way ahead. Carlos could even do the one of the Nazi's in the style of James Coburn. Although there is no  room for Romanian Vampires.
 On Ennis I bought the War Story specials he did for DC and reccommend them, the Russian Front one had fabulous Chris Weston art, and he is definitly one of my favourite British artists.

 There was always a reworked TV/Film theme in Battle and Early 2000 AD. Rat Pack was the dirty Dozen, we/ve mentioned death squad, there was something called Hunters(?) I think which was the proffessionals, and Mach 1 was reprinted in Battle which was obviously the 6 million dollar man. It'ld it be intersting if it had survived to see what they'ld currently be riffing on.

 I remember a Battle story called Death Squad which was basically a PG version of Cross of Iron. I'ld love to see something similar revamped by Carlos Ezquerra, is there room in tooth for non-science fiction strips?

 If a Magazine was to reprint old strips from Fleetway comics other than 2000 AD wgat would you want to see?
 And on a similar note what creative teams would you like to see if old strips both 2000 Ad and elsewhere were ressurrected?
 Just found the Action special and I loved Sean Phillips Silver Claw.

 Ah the power of love(boat) to reform charchters, I had been saving up for your ticket to Fantasy Island, but it seems that "the Cruise line where romance is always round the corner" has alllowed your inner beauty to shine through, without the need for creepy little person Tattoo to show you the path to enlightenment. Hurrah!

 I'm off to play action force and read Warlord, let there be no more talk of this.
