Help! / Re: London Film and comic con........
27 June, 2005, 04:52:46 PM
yeehahhhhh!  i think that might have been my best days conventioning ever - i rediscovered my public sketching ability , while sitting next to my top living comic artist , mr mc.carthy - he's back in action and coming our way soon....the entire day was hilarious - i was in the green room having a fight to get in the loo with a small strange girl - after 10 seconds or so  my brain twigged it was charisma carpenter and i reverted to some bizarre courtly behaviour mode...lou ferigno walked by and i found a very tiny "lou!" come out of my gob - he ignored me so i feigned a rugby tackle - i dunno why a chap of his stature would require 2 ladies to guard him , but they weren't happy with me...still, i did a mental scan of his insanely huge calf muscle and went off and did a comedy sketch of it. after much lurking behind the scenes , he was on his way back for some chow when i sprung him , gingerly shaking his hand whilst he eyed me like i dissed his momma...."allow me to present you with this picture of your insanely huge calf muscle" - the corners of his mouth curled up for a split second then his eyes started to glow green so i ran away like a small child....into the green room , where the excitement of the event caused me to do my mojave/leprechaun dance in the corner - according to gemma the fella from highlander came in , saw what was happening in the corner, freaked out and left...after some uncle and aunty types came in  with some strange code of banter(the blakes 7 crew- urrgh i used to fancy her when i was 6!) we decided to leave just as big ron perlman wandered in , satay stick in hand , wrapping up a chat with someone - i thought sod it , i'm not gonna get another pop at shaking the right hand of doom , so... " am i allowed to meet you aswell?" i enquired , "NO" came the gnarly reply - this guy IS hellboy, very disconcerting making small talk with someone who seems to want to kill you - so we made him say "aw, crap!" , talked about comics ; he was a big fan of ' mikes ' stuff , we assumed of course he was on about the groovy mr. collins....

rounded up some fellow artistes , found the nearest booza for a pint for the road - which became many for the road as we should've known , proceeded to get lost on the underground , and mouth off to total strangers about how i sat on the car from knight rider - so all in all a stupendous day......just wish i'd bought that framed lock of wampa hair...damn...

one thing missing......a 2000ad stand with all the trimmings would've gone down a treat........

big op the end is nigh krew!

Film & TV / Re: Star Wars - Revenge of the Sit...
20 May, 2005, 04:25:44 PM
you're all mad or blind , or  taking the wrong 'medication ' ....that was a mentally good film - from the dooku bit at the start i knew we wuz in fer a rockin 2 hours - and disappointed , i was not.....yoda's like a secret agent , palpsy is really sick - the film has great pacing , the actings better this time , as for delivering at the crucial moments - what can i say? the tiny 5 yr old boy who tried to climb into the screen of ' a new hope ' in plymouth odeon 1977 is now extremely happy . . .

but okay , fair point - the magic slipped for a second on the ' kenneth brannagh ' bit , and they sort of goosed up the birth realism , entirely....difficult not to spoil......ack..... must refrain....nnnnggg.........

well , unfortunately lucas' amazing chin-sack of ideas is empty once more.....will it ever fill again? this wampa hopes so......

boo's highlight: standing having a pleasant chat with alan donald and his good lady , when i realised my attention was slowly being sucked towards a gangling tornado of flesh coming at me from the left , eyes akimbo it shrieked " tusken raiderrrrrrrrrr! " , i'm a shy gentleman at the best of times , and i'm blaming this nerve shattering incident on my complete inability to draw the next day ...; )

apologies to anyone who didn't get a sketch - whats more, apologies to anyone who DID get one off me , but for whatever reason i just couldn't draw that day , and rather than freak out , i thought i'd bail out ...

apart from that , a hoot of a weekend - best bit really was  finding a tramps den in the basement of the ramada wiv me pal matt(not smith) , nickin loads of toobing , taking it back to the bar and blowing up pints with it , laurel and hardy style etc.etc. great chats great food great folk great comics . great.....

off to sketching school......

after having a good snorkel about boocook.com myself , i found the best way to check the site is to visit the toons first , get something spacey playing , then open another window to carry on viewing the site , so you get a soundtrack as you go.....well thats my tip for the day - glad you like it so far.......

Links / boocook.com lives!
11 May, 2005, 07:29:48 AM
seeing as 99% percent of my stuff is work for 2000ad , i thought i'd post a wee pointer to my website which i've finally got floated on the web(fingers crossed). if you fancy a look you can access it via www.boocook.com or just boocook.com...

in the ' royal gallery of art - planet vokk ' section ,  theres illustration, cover, comic and sketchbook zones , plus a nerdy step-by-step section which goes in depth on the creation of  an a.d. page and a dredd cover if anyones interested....

and....ahem...theres some downloadable music sort of stuff....it's different. anyone who's downloaded the 2 songs from the a.d. sight will have a rough idea what to expect , but theres quite a range of wierdscapes, plus some collaborations and crazy improvised stuff - it's rowdy , but humorous in a twisted kinda way...parental warnings etc.....

well, if you can be arsed , i hope you enjoy having a look round . it should all be there , but i'm new to this website game so expect to get sucked in a few black holes.. . i intend to add to it as i go along , so check back for news and art updates etc...

surf on!
cheers -

boo.
