Here's my poor attempt at a Lawmaster based on the Valkyrie  :-\

Tell you what......that doesn't look too bad.  Looks better than that movie effort we've seen.

You're a funny guy!
You're not Scojo's even eviler twin brother Bozo by any chance?

Afraid not.  Just someone who speaks their mind.

Such as it is.

WTF?!? An extra £90 to stay at the Ramada this year?!?  I don't think so- looks like I might be giving it a miss after all...

This thread has been largely brought to you by the words 'stupidity', 'annoyance' and 'twat'.

Thanks.

Don't beat about the bush, tell us what you really think.

I think it could look better and I think it could look a lot worse- but that's based on one out of context snap.  A bit of idle speculation never goes amiss- but, for the most part, I'm all about the wait-and-see...

At the risk of stirring this up again, I'd agree if it wasn't for the 'really' in there.

"Gibbons has only worked with Alan Moore and Frank Miller really in the past"

Don't worry- I'm sure that somebody will be along to tell you that what all this means is that it was just a long, long time ago that he worked with them.  Or something.

It reads to me like Millar thinks Gibbons has only really done anything of any real note with those two writers, which- in terms of American comics- isn't that far removed from reality.  I don't particularly think it's an intentional diss- just Millar talking off the top of his head.  Maybe if he sat and thought about it a bit, he'd come up with a different answer.  Or not.  I don't think it means what Jim thinks it means though- for the same reason that Steve doesn't.

On the other hand, it's not that big a deal either.

Jim Campbell- voice of reason.

We're through the looking glass, people.

Wait- I thought I was the voice of reason?

I leave periodically and dip my toes in again every now and then- but I try not to start threads about it because I really don't want the same witless little twerps that get on my tits in the first place to have the online equivalent of being able to kick me in the arse on the way out.

That said, rather than decry Logan explaining why he's leaving, you might want to think about the other prolific posters, including several creators, that have fallen by the wayside without ever bothering to tell you why.

I will now resume my own current leaving of the internet forever, which has been in effect for about two weeks (I am mildly insulted that nobody* noticed or cared, by the way).

*No, Buttonman- not you.  Nobody gives a toss what you think.

Welcome back to the board Matt, you've been sorely missed, now go out there and get ignored...

Premature celebration, I'm afraid. Nothing's really changed since the last time I was a regular, so I'm probably better off sticking to Twitter. There's still a couple of threads I like to follow, but I don't think that this is one of them.

I can't help but feel I'd have been better off with the rolly eyes. If I choose to ignore somebody, rather than engaging negatively with them (something I used to get stick for all the time)- that's the shitty option, is it?

I just can't be bothered with the rest. Your opinion is about 180 degrees removed from mine, so no good will come of it.

Fair comment without going into specifics,I suppose. Without knowing who we're on about (and I'm NOT expecting you to post that!) I can't really comment on that particular thing much further. It depend's on why you're ignoring them and why I'm not. I only have three on ignore- one was a borderline spammer, one a tube and the other just irritates me with 99% of what he says. There are a few others I would stick on the ignore list at the drop of a hat but I find it easy to just not read their posts. As to liking or not liking people- I can only definitely like or dislike people who I've met significantly in real life, I try to get along with everyone except people who piss me off. Isn't that fairly normal?

I was referring specifically to the people who are ignored by many. These people are generally ignored by many because many find them/ their posts irritating. If that makes the poster feel alienated, then it is up to them to change their behaviour and one way of getting the message across without causing Board Wars is a cricket score in the ignores- the alternative is an open air flame war that is the hallmark of many other forums.
If it doesn't bother them, then why greet about the number of ignores they have?

As to people with only a couple of ignores- people fall out, or some people just rub each other up the wrong way- that's life, and will account for people who are generally ok on the forum, but have a couple of people ignoring them. I don't think its going to make someone feel alienated if they have a fair idea who is ignoring them and why.

Hope that makes things a bit clearer.

How many is 'many'?  Is five many, in your book?  For the amount of active posters we have, I think that's quite a lot, personally.  The people I mainly ignore just get on my nerves.  Their opinions annoy me and I find their general reasoning skills to be pretty weak and/or hypocritical- but it's not like they actively go out of their way to annoy me- or others, as far as I can see.  Ultimately, they don't really have any particularly bad behaviour to modify.

Frankly, if you have five ignorers, it's quite likely that they're all ignoring you for different and completely unrelated reasons.  In my case, it's probably because I think you're a giant dog's cock- and you could second guess yourself all week as to how I've come to that particular conclusion.

This particular topic is in very real danger of becoming a conversational cul-de-sac- now, so let's just leave it that you think it's ok to let people know that they're being ignored, without ever knowing who's ignoring them or why, in the hope that they'll figure it out and amend their behaviour accordingly (good luck with that one in my case, kids)- and that I think it's shitty, pointless and fuels bad feeling.

The only other point that I might be interested in discussing is this: how many people would you ignore if the people in question knew that you were ignoring them?  I'm pretty sure I'd cut my list down to one in a heartbeat if somebody brought that in- but, in terms of modifying behaviour, even that would make more sense than the current "somebody's ignoring me- I wonder who it is and why?" system that we've got going right now.

Ok- try this: I know for a fact that I'm ignoring people you seem to like. By your logic, it's their fault that I'm ignoring them.

Even better- let's say that Fatboy Dale is ignoring Jim Campbell. Do you really think that's Jim's fault- or does the argument fall apart when somebody unpopular ignores somebody who is popular?

What's the alternative? More pointless arguing? Pretty sure you wouldn't like that either.

I have to say, I pretty much subscribe to the view that people should stop crying about being ignored, those who are ignoring them generally have their reasons. That's entirely their choice. Would it be any less alienating just to have no one answering your posts?
IMO the alienation is being caused by the ignored poster, not the ignorer or the knowledge of ignoration.
