Which to be honest is really the crux of the matter.  I've bored people with the following plenty of times- but this is probably your first sitting:

My real irritation, irrespective of whatever religion you believe in, is that Christianity is targetted as an easy piss-take.  Not too many years ago, you'd be in trouble for it, so when people did it- it was regarded as being a bit risque.  A bit alternative.  A bit "Oooh, look at me- I just dissed the establishment".

These days, it's old hat- an easy target and a well worn joke.  People that take the piss out of Christianity are far less likely to take the piss out of Islam (for example) as it can involve *real* consequences for them.  In my area, you'd probably lose your job over it (which isn't necessarily a bad thing either).

Anyway- as you say, everybody is free to choose what they do or don't believe in.  As far as I'm concerned, all that really matters is not offending people's beliefs- you f*cking Godless heathen...

Well I guess that all depends on whether or not I'm smelling sarcasm, young man...

And I'm a good man in any case.

I dunno- it seems like every couple of weeks, some comedy genius wants to start yet another religion thread.  The views range from the dizzying heights of a few well thought out observations (see former mortal enemy: Dud), to some skull crunchingly unfunny 'jokes' by the same sad fools *desperate* to share their 'out there' comedy musings with us*.

That whole bit in Dredd this week- with the kid's head coming off.  I dunno- it just seemed a bit... much.

I know it's probably a bit silly, but it wouldn't have seemed nearly so bad had it been an adult.  I totally got that it had to be a pretty recognisable wound so that we knew it was the same character later on (and the floating head bit *did* look pretty creepy)- but it was still a bit visually harsh in my book- and I've drawn some disturbing stuff in my time!

Anybody else- or am I just being an old woman this morning?

Don't bother trying to be creative- you'll only arrive at the party to find that most people haven't bothered anyway...

Surely Robert Patrick is the only person hunky enough to play Dredd?  That gravelly voice, the manly chin- need I say any more...?
