That?s a hell of a lot of real estate for one man to accommodate..

Re: Chaykin?s screenplay, if such a thing should exist I?d be interested in giving it the once over-
Could it be any worst than the muddled excuse for a work of fiction the viewing public were subjected to that was Judge Dredd the movie?

I've been following the progress of Mike Mignola for the best part of a decade and although its's got to the point where he'd probably say to any Dredd project - 'no, can't, got other concerns'  when I saw the way he handled the Judgement on Gotham cover it got me thinking I'd like to see more.

Chances are however the closest we'll get to this is if Kev Walker does another turn with Wagner - the first Sin City cover (prog 1289) caught my eye and drew me back into Dredd's universe after an absence of over six years.
I was more than a little surprised when I realised it wasn' t by Mignola.

I remember Kevin's work on the original Rogue Trooper in the eighties, from then to now there's been a dramatic shift in axis stylistically speaking. In no way am I being critical of Kevin, every artist borrows from another's visual language along the way - more power to him. I look forward to a collection of the Sin City episodes in one volume having missed four of them.

As for Mike handling a Dredd strip.. could be up for a long wait - unless it's a Dredd/Hellboy cross-over then in which case I'd probably avoid it, you can only stretch the boundaries of credibility for a cash sale so far.

With regards to The Watcher's coments, never a truer word said.
As for the release of a director's cut would there really be a market for it?

Well, well alone.

The production design was briliant in parts but on the whole the sorry mess of egos and ideas that was Judge Dredd the movie is best left well alone.

Becoming a regular habit this- rolling in drunk as a lord at odd hours of the morning tacking comments on to the end of other boarder's  threads but as an additional support worker for a local FE college I relish any opportunity that presents itself  to act up in a juvenile manner- I get to relive a little of my fast disappearing youth and the students enjoy a laugh at my expense.

As a youth I wasn't to keen on seeing the Dan Dare space suits make an appearence in the Luna Olympics/battle with the Sovs- now I'm just nostalgic about the whole thing- capes and all.

As much as I like everything McMahon brings to his visuals, I prefer the Boland/Gibbons visualisations and concider them to be a more  appropriate sjs uniform. The beauty of McMahon's take on the outfit is that it reflects the moment in which it existed, The Day the Law Died.

Help! / Re: 2000ad newbie needs advice.......

I can't fault any of the advice so far- for me the three full colour McMahon strips in the 1982 Judge Dredd annual, reprinted in The Streets of MegaCity One graphic novel (I think) are some of the best old skool Dredd you can get your hands on. Alas I don't own either books anymore and would like to see these stories reissued somewhere, anywhere..

Does anyone recall the episode of Red Razors where Razors flips out and reverts to his former criminal self.
I seem to remember they bought a Dredd- if not the Dredd out of suspended animation to bring him down.
I believe this was around 2176 so at some point before then the Mc1 justice dept must have seen fit to stash Joe in the deep freeze until such time as he was needed.

Suggestions / Re: 2000AD Gold Summer Special !.....
25 January, 2003, 05:44:58 AM
I've already mentioned the Three McMahon strips that appeared in the 1982 Judge Dredd annual- Anatomy of a Crime, The Vampire Effect etc. in another thread but these strips are just the kind of vintage material we should be seeing in a 2000ad gold summer special. And another thing when did the Judge Child Quest last get an outing?

Just finished reading Blueberry: Balad for a Coffin.  Moebius is perhaps one of the most prolific and diverse comic artists in Europe. Every time I get to read something rendered by him I'm never disapointed. Another artist worth checking is Philipe Drulard (forgive the spelling) I had an old Paper Tiger publication with his work in- acid colours, little or no dialogue, plenty of nudity, way out there!

Have really enjoyed following this thead-

Seems a shame to let it shuffle off the end of the board..

Checked out the site again and I was wondering a)what's a reasonable poly count for your characters? and b) will you get round to developing any environments from the series of SD stories? ie: The Killing
