Sage Francis   Spoken Word #1 (The) Mullet

It was the (beatboxing) that got me (beatboxing)
It was the (beatboxing) break (beatboxing)

Deflate, cuz I was gassed,
head over heals in love with the electric drums
and spoken vocals which was the joke of locals
and laughing stock of my rock and roll ass town..

But the rhythmic acupuncture pierced my skin
pinning the butterflies to my stomach
which would flutter every time i heard the (beatboxing)
more than the (beatboxing)

I WAS NO DEVIL WORSHIPER!

Higher level interpreter,
I REFUSED to lose focus and recite satanic verses
with manic curses drug induced worst was I
knew they were saying "kill your mother"
cuz it paid them well

Yet in my flashback I see the foreshadow
ironic twist, my first purchase was a hip hop record
called Raising Hell

I should have run when I had the chance but DMC's
made be wanna breakdance, made me wanna spin vinyl,
made me wanna graf write, made me want to not act white..

And not to perpetuate any stereotypes but
i was not about the mullet ice-hockey haircut

http://www.kenbmiller.com/satpostman/cult_figures/mullet/mullet_and_car.jpg>

You know the MULLET, short on top for the fellas
long in back for the ladies, yea!

I was not about stonewash nut-huggers with the French
rolls on the bottoms so tight that it turned my toes purple
nor was I about the ripped jean-jacket with the Megadeath,
Metallica and Slayer patch

I had an internal itch for the (beatboxing) and never
could I get with the (b-iwn) guitar riff, the (b-iwwwn) guitar riff, the (b-iwwwwn)

I had wild Style Wars,
I rented BEAT Street every week as I rocked steady wearing out the "play",
"rewind" and "slow-mo" buttons on my VCR,

I did the pause-play, rewind, stop, play, pause-play, pause-play, pause-play
all day forced my way into comprehension of inner city invention for me
was in the expression which would eventually win the exception-

(one exception) those around me couldn't give me affection
but I played and paid that video attention till eventually I
completely bit the (beatboxing)

And found my new religion, born again B-boy, born to destroy
decoys and be the real mccoy, YEA boy!

I WORE THE CLOCK SO YOU COULD KNOW THE TIME!

Chuck D told me to keep a sober mind, and even though his
sidekick liked the flavour of BASE

I swear to god hip hop was about being drug free,
I swear to god hip hop is about the up-lift-ment of Humanity,
I swear to god hip hop was what rock was not, was what rock
was not, was not pop, (pop! pshhhhhhh...)

Guess I was gassed!

See I remember when Dr Dre use to expressssss
himself about hatin' the chronic, a few years later he's
endorsing it while drinking gin and tonic

Suburbanites that blast Mace learn their mad face from Onyx,
it was a rat race the first to properly use Ebonics

Dynomite liked JJ, but it was a fad like Super Sonic,
hip hop flipped from being artistic to a pop hit

Mainstream took control and we cannot stop it

Its a black art, being manipulated by white controllers

Just like rock and roll is

We took the (beatboxing)

We took the (beatboxing)

May be this should be posted up on the 'Worst Britons' thread..

I struggle to find *any* common ground with vegan militants.

(A generalization) for a subculture that in it's essence proports to be of an easy going, 'live and let live' group of folks, vegans can be as fascistic in their views about eating meat and fish as (poor analogy) the average Daily Mail reader is about the long-term unemployed, immigrants and meh, vegan militants.

The final irony is that the last vegan I spoke to about the positive effects of Omega 3 present in oily fish said (paraphrases) 'I don't need to eat fish because I buy my Omega 3 tablets in Holland & Barrett'.

Gay or camp? The way a character behaves isn't always a reflection of their sexual orientation..

Just a thought  ;)

Favourite Album cover..

The Annunciation (a panel from the Adelphi Sanctuary) painted by Abdul Mati Klarwein (man at table in straw hat and sunglasses) illustrates the moment where the Archangel Gabriel (nude red tattooed winged figure, message played out on conga drums!) tells Mary (nude black woman) that she will give birth to the son of God etc. etc.

The Aleph Sanctuary, established 1963, is a portable cubic temple, 3 m x 3 m, made out of various metals and wood, paneled 1970 with 68 paintings of various sizes. It was built and painted with a grant from Fiduciary Trust Co., Nassau, Bahamas.

Carlos Santana saw the painting in the sanctuary and the rest is history..

Am I alone in thinking that Cam's artwork for Zancudo was originally intended to be coloured?

It's just that in certain panels through the strip it appeared to be all line and no tone..

Pleasant diversion all the same- interested to see where this goes next.

Sorry, no. 30 is The 1982 Judge Dredd Annual and it's quite possibly the best annual in the world because of the wealth of material old and new by Mick McMahon.

From the age of 9 to now I must of read this book a thousand times..

What are you lot on?

For the cinematography, mood, building of tension
and *knockout* revelation it has to be Luke and Vader's duel at the end of The Empire Strikes Back..
