Help! / Why is my internet so crap?
07 October, 2007, 10:01:07 AM
Sorry to post this folks but I'm at the end of my tether!

We've got Virgin Media internet (ADSL through the phone line cos we don't live in a cable area) which is up to 8mb but is generally about 3mb to 1.5mb if we're lucky.

However, lately, it seems to be off as often than it's on which I'm sure you understand is fucking infuriating. All of us at Wellsy towers really need a stable and reliable internet service for work and uni purposes and this is driving us all insane! Honestly, I can't stress how much the atmosphere in our happy home changes when the net dies!

So what can it be? I assume we're set up right as it does actually work half of the time. Have we got dodgy phonelines? Is the router dodgy? Is Virgin Media shit? I'm sick of ringing both Virgin Media and BT and getting fobbed off. Is there anything I can do? Please help!

General / TFU in TF2!

The last few weeks I've been merrily playing Team Fortress 2 by the lovely Valve company. Marvelling at it's wonderful design and graphics - are other boarders playing it by the way?

Anyway, yonks ago, I tried to get in touch with Jason Brashill via his website to see if I could get a Dredd commission from him.

Last week I got a lovely email from Jason's missus apologising for not getting in touch sooner but they've moved to Seattle as Jason has got a job working as a concept artist for...

Valve! He's been involved in making the Engineer, Soldier and Heavy trailers for TF2 and is also doing some mapping. Wehey! It's great when you hear that your fave artists are doing well!

Well, to be honest, I don't like 'em. Of course, Alan Moore's were excellent in their day but since then, only Mr Spurriur and maybe Henry Flint have done it for me.

I can see the point of them but, being a comic snob, I don't want to see someone learning how to write/draw comics in my 2000ad! That's what small press is for isn't it? I know there are huge holes in my arguements here but I'm just saying what I feel.

I'd much rather have an extra episode of Dredd.

Much as I enjoyed some of the older covers, this Jock beauty nailed MC1, 2000ad and Dredd for me!http://www.2000adonline.com/images/artwork/1450b.jpg">

1 - Jonny Eyebrows (that would make an amazing cover!)

2 - Bart Diaz.

3 - Cream Trumpet.

Well done everyone!

My Tuppence:

Cover - Very strange, very green, but I likes it!

Dredd - Sad to see Coleby go and was really quite worried about Critchlow replacing him. I was proven wrong as usual, luvvery stuff!

Stone Island - Canny enough. Is it me though or have all the blokes in this series looked incredibly camp? At times it's been like looking at stills from a carry on film! A bit distracting and this weeks coincidences were ridiculous but I've enjoyed the series overall.

ABCs - Completely ruined by such appalling dialogue. Very poor.

Cabs - Class. Don't want to see it end but can't wait to see how it ends!

Buttonman - Though I'm liking it, it's the least I've ever been excited about, or involved in, a Harry Ex tale. Glorious art mind ye!

Film & TV / Re: Halloween
25 September, 2007, 06:30:10 PM
My parents let me watch the original Halloween when I was about five and it absolutely terrified me. I remember putting on the nonchallant brave act during the first two thirds of the film and then running out of the room screaming and crying when the dude flies out of the cupboard. I still get butterflies when I hear the music even now.

I can watch any film now but I haven't dared to watch Halloween. I might watch the remake but only if the music is different!
