Film & TV / Re: 2000ad in comics britannia.......

Yeah I'd love a proper 2000ad documentary too but won't hold my breath!

As for the show itself, as everyone has said, far, far too much Viz in terms of time and kudos given to it. Hell, I enjoy Viz as much as the next man but I think the show went way over the top here.

Also, I get really fed up of how much focus is given to 70's Dredd. It's so outdated now and bears very little resemblance to Dredd of today. To get the whole Dredd ethos across I'd much rather have seen excerpts from America 1 or the Terror storyline, not the camp, cringeworthy exposition of Judge Fucking Whitey or the Cursed Earth again! I know the program was showing Dredd of the time but I wish they'd have shown something a little more up to date too...

The thing that niggled me the most though (and this really is geeky) was the terrible chroma-keying! Half of the interviewees heads were missing in many of the segments, I found it really off putting!

Yup, used the purple on purpose! I'm sure Simon would see the funny side too, I think he'd be more offended by my shite drawing skills!

A great prog, but I seemed to read it in about five minutes flat!

Cover - A touch of class. One of my favourite covers in a long time. Perfect!

Dredd - A bit silly with a few too many convenient coincidences but has got me intrigued anyway. A fine display by the seriously under rated Mr Coleby.

Stone Island - I really enjoyed this weeks episode, especially Harry and Walker's exchange on page two which was just mental! No nobs though, which is a shame.

ABC's - Hmmm, still enjoying this but Mills is getting close to spoiling the story with it getting overly silly. I felt a bit uneasy by the 'father' saying to his son 'Turn over so I can beat the other side!' Am I reading too much into that?

Cabs - Great stuff! Having just read Cabs books 2 I now feel, for the first time, that I really know what's going on in the story and can appreciate GRennie's wonderfully crafted tale. As Trouty said, great revelations this week too!

Button Man - Gah! I'm sorry I started the 'jumping the shark thread' as I am really enjoying this story. Frazer's art is absolutely beautiful and Fiona Staples' colours are just perfect. I still have a very uneasy feeling about the set up but am sure that Wagner and Irving will deliver.

In all, a great prog but, like so many great things,  all over bit quickly, fnarr! (little tribute to Comics Britannia there!)

My  brother, who always been a fantastic artist, used to get it. As an annoying little git of a brother, my job was to tell him how geeky he was for getting it.

However, I used to sneakily read the progs when he was out. When he eventually stopped buying it I was gutted and had to start buying it myself.

 Now I am the geek!

Hmmmm, Helter Skelter was decent enough, I suppose. However, my original gripe about this, elsewhere on the board, is that it's already been reprinted and there are far better Carlos strips out there that haven't.

I wonder if this just an excuse to put Ennis' name on the cover of a 2000ad book in the hope of selling more copies?

Yikes! Despite how horrible that last line sounds, I really don't mean any offence to Jonathan, who does a wonderful job. It is a genuine question.

Hi P-BOT!

When I saw your post I thought it was someone telling us there was a new 2000ad poster to buy!

Welcome to the board!

My Tuppence worth:

Cover - Outstanding, damn you Matthewvic! My only gripe is, why did they slap that huge black headline over thre spike? Stoopid!

Dredd - Again, Wagner is king! What an amazing rise to power for Phillip Janet Maybe. I really look forward to seeing him affecting events in MC-1 right under Dredd's nose. Genius!

Anderson - Just getting stupid now. Readable tough, which brings us to...

Satanus - Wrestling now? Sheesh, what an absolute load of shit.

Small Press - I usually hate this but quite enjoyed this 'un.

Rojaws - Dated but readable. Great artwork.

Fink Angel - Wonderful art, Steve is on fire with this strip! His trees on the first page were beautiful, his big Elvis was sublime and the final panel is a joy! As for the story, decent enough, but the Elvis speak was just a bit too confusing at times.

In all, a Meg with some amazing highs (The cover, PJ, and Steve Roberts) and, well let's be honest, Satanus.
