Best in the country of course!

I won it for writing lots of stories about snots, spitting and head lice (downloadble from the link below) and for making cool green screen chroma key films with my special kiddies. What this means is I won it for having fun - hooray!

Following from Thinky's Self Congratulatory thread I'd just like to share with the board that:

I've just won Special Needs ICT Teacher of the Year!

So I'm as happy as Larry and Thinky too!

The dog is apparently an autonomous robot. It learns as it 'grows'. It supposed to have it's own personality depending on how you treat it, it gets angry, moody, happy etc. and will 'even ignore you if it's in  a huff' says the blurb. I have to wonder though if that's just their excuse for when it can't understand what the buggerynuts you're talking to it about.

Speaking of robots, I brought our 'AIBO' robot dog home from work for the weekend.

We're a long way off from Walter the Wobot (thank god) but I have to say I'm quite impressed with the cute little bugger. It recognises familliar faces as well as a decent repetoire of voice commands (even in my ridiculous mackem accent!) and amuses itself by kicking it's ball around and exploring the house. You can even put it in guard dog mode where it will watch your house then take a photo and email or picture message it to you if it detects movement or sound. Best of all it doesn't shite everywhere and keep the neighbours up all night.

Help! / Re: SW: Battlefront II

Can't help with the video card issue (I've got a fairly old nVidia and it's running canny) but I have to say I'm really enjoying this game.

The story spans both trilogies and you play as a member of the clone army and then, of course, a storm trooper. It's cool fighting with the jedi then having to wipe the sanctimonious buggers out mid game, yay!

The Monster Munch monsters on the adverts. How pathetic is that?

Help! / Re: Stop the Halloween Bloodshed.....
02 November, 2005, 01:12:10 PM
Yay! Thanks SO much to everyone, you're all total toppers for being so nice!

The winner is No. 2 (the scary one), followed by No. 1 (Stewie) then No. 3 (the funny one).

That means the winners are (drum roll please...)

First place - Pete (hooray!)
Second place - Mrs Pete (she really likes Family Guy, I guess she must have a thing for tubby geeks called Peter...)
Third place - Mini Pete.

Don't worry Bou, I'll tell mini Pete he won (though in a way, the youngest, or certainly the least mature, member of the house DID win!)

Thanks again everyone!

Help! / Stop the Halloween Bloodshed...

...in our house please!

The annual Halloween carving competition between me, Mrs Pete and Mini Pete has been left undecided as we can't decide who's is best. Could a few of you please judge which is the greatest from our sorry efforts below - before it comes to blows here (and I don't mean blowing the candles out!)

Thanks in advance,

Well guys, venturing onto The Sun Online (purely for the sake of this thread, you understand!) the headlines read...

"Beam me up, Botty" and "Beam me up the Botty!" and the story starts with 'Queen me up, Scotty'.

You can read the fun filled story at the link below - it's tragic!

Yay, just completed this and have to say I've enjoyed it quite a bit more than FEAR.

WOD I had a look at multiplayer and didn't seem to get any lag even on my crappy 1mb-goes-off-when-it-rains broadband connection.

Must admit I'm not much of an online gamer (my broad band is bobbins) and I'm busy battling through the single player story at the minute (it's REALLY gross!)

Mrs Pete is about to kill me for being a computer geek all day so I'll have a bash at multiplayer tomorrow!

Yeah, I bought FEAR last week and though I enjoyed it, I was a little disappointed too. It's very, very samey and not as scary as I was expecting. It's fun though, has a cracking story and the slow motion is great (for a while anyway).

FEAR ran quite slowly on my machine too where Quake seems to be flying along, despite being graphicaly superior. Perhaps Quake hasn't got all the physics going on in the background like FEAR has.

Both are great games but, for me, Quake is clinching it (just).

Off Topic / Quake 4, while we wait for Rogue...
25 October, 2005, 03:51:53 PM
Cor, I bought Quake 4 yesterday and it's blumping lovely! It's got jaw dropping graphics in a nice, 2000ad-esque future war setting complete with big stompy robots, monstorous tanks and shocks and gore aplenty!

Minor spoiler - I was turned into a Strogg baddie yesterday which meant that I was strapped to a conveyor belt while all manner of saws and probes hacked and stabbed me. It was bloody horrible - just like going through RESYK while alive, now I know how Hershey felt!

So, while we're waiting for the Rogue Trooper game (which now has a lot to live up to!), give Quake 4 a blast if you can!

Pete.
