Messages - John Caliber

Oh, furckle me. Remember what I wrote a few messages up? About bidding on isolated isues, then someboby puts up an auction for a half dozen issues for less? Yes, it's just happened.

Still, better having duplicates than none at all  ;)

Thanks for the synopsis, Commmando F; I had no idea John Wagner contributed. Anyhow how, they look worth a purchase. I tried Silver Acre Comics but they don't appear to stock a single issue, so I'm scavenging what I can off eBay.

Unlike the Grand Hall of Justice, the Academy pics don't vary all that much in their design. Quite looking forward to illustrating it myself later this year.

Chances are Amazon customers may get their books ahead of mine, as the Book Depository can take 2-3 days after notice of dispatch.

I treasure my 2000AD Xtreme Edition Meltown Man reprints. Wouldn't MM make for a fantastic movie?

The Xtreme Editions ended not long after they completed The Mean Arena. One of my favourite series (and I don't even like sport). No doubt I'd watch if footballers literally had to play for their lives and carried grenades and chainsaws (who gives a damn if you can kick a ball in a straight line if you can't throw a frag grenade?). Here's one vote for The Complete The Mean Arena TPB!

That's much appreciated. I've just bid on the first two issues. (As usual with eBay, you can guarantee that no sooner do I pay a fiver for five issues, then the day after somebody puts the entire set up for sale for £8!  ;))

I've just dug out all 23 issues plus the Action Special and shall go through them at work tonight if I get some spare time

I picked up the missing audio dramas tonight (thanks, Rehan). My collection is now complete  :D

I didn't get time to look at the comics (my Crohn's Disease is taking its toll tonight - Puke City here we come  :-[

Still, a few going cheaply on eBay to sample.

Thanks Pete. I'm buying some 2000AD stuff tonight, and the seller has some of these comics. I'll see if he can has time to give me a look at them.

Yes, but it's NOT coming from Amazon. The Book Depository stocks it and states I'll have it before 26 February. I've used them many times.

I did originally order it via Amazon, but they're arsing about with the 'Available in 9-12 Days' routine.

Although it's hard to source many of these issues beyond the few on eBay (unless anybody knows differently), are they worth a read? I know they don't follow 2000AD's continuity, but what on average would you give the comic in terms of scripts and art out of '10'? I've not so much as even seen beyond the occasional cover.

... should be arriving before the weekend. Looking forward to reviewing it!

I'd say Nemesis The Warlock (because it would be an absolute nightmare to adapt correctly, to market and finance in today's myopic, conservative industry where 'new' ideas only come from 'rebooting' back catalogue scripts).

If it could be done then all is not lost.

General / Re: JUDGE DREDD 0 delayed

After the momentous Volume 1, the others can only suffer in comparison. The quality of the Annuals and Sci-Fi Special strips really begins to drop off in short order from now on.

Of course, reprinting all the Daily Star Dredds by Wagner/Grant/Smith/Gibson would help bring the Thrill-Power Index right back up, although their landscape format might be too great a jolt for The Restricted Files, so maybe an entirely separate reprint series is indicated.

If there was only to be one collection of 2000AD art I could see reprinted, it would have to be the original Bolland art for the 1980s Eagle Comics reprints in their original b/w format on high quality paper, but I was informed some time ago they were very difficult to locate.

i'm still waiting for the marshall law movie.....any word ???

I think the situation is that the movie the production company proposed was hardly anything like the original character, stripping out all the adult comedy and dark satire (anything they considered 'controversial') and leaving a bozo with guns (this is in the interview), which makes him interchangeable with any other action hero.
