Just checking in after a busy weekend to say I thoroughly enjoyed Saturday. There was a massive queue for the signing at FP which snaked around the basement. I forgot to take snaps at FP but here is one of the gang in the Crown & Anchor. Drinks were followed by the obligatory excellent meal at the Punjab restaurant.

A cracking day - and weekend - all told.
Weather wasn't the best on Saturday, but the rain only really came in fits and starts, and if you are safely ensconced in a comic shop/pub/curry house, then it doesn't really matter.
Great to meet up, again, with the Southern Contingent members, who made this Nort feel more than welcome.

And great to listen in on another of Dr Clarke's Mega City book club recordings. Sheriden and Rachael sounded like they had Halo Jones completely covered, so looking forward to hearing the finished podcast. (Just hope me and SuperSurfer chatting away in the background doesn't show up too much...)

Got a few more signatures - made a start on getting Thrill Power Overload fully signed by everyone connected to the Prog, bought a few pieces - Dust 1 & 2, Steve MacManus' book, and as they was readily available; the rest of the variant covers for Prog 2000... (Just the 2nd printing to get now,  ;) )

So, a grand time was had, and roll on February, to do it all again.

And popping down to London for the Prog 2000 signing, I managed to snag a signed copy. Mightily looking forward to reading this.

Bill Nunn, actor - most famous for playing Radio Raheem in Spike Lee's glorious Do the right thing.

RIP, Mr Nunn.

Looks to be a very tasty event going by the list of Droids attending alone.
I shall be there.

I've got to say that I'm not that excited by the forthcoming prog 2000.

Prog 2001, on the other hand, does have a most futuristic, and space-age ring to it.

Can we not postpone all the celebrations by a week?

As it says on the tin. An excellent condition copy of 1208 which I believe can be tricky to track down?

99p start and (thanks to a slip of the mouse) free P&P.

Not for charity this time but come back after the Prog 2000 signing and I'll see what I can do.

Nice!
I did - kinda - own this - well, I bought a whole stash of old progs, maybe 10 years ago, and this was in amongst them, but as I was only collecting up to Prog 1000, it wasn't needed (bit tatty as well...), so it was left mouldering in the shed, until it was then finally binned. Found out not long after that, that it was kinda scarce....

Anyways, just added a bid to this!

Wow, there's some crazy-shit threads floating around in the bowels of the forum isn't there. Wonder what else is lurking....

Not sure if I've come across this before, but it has a familiar ring to it - Roger's quips may have been re-used for other threads, the OP seems identical to every other 'colourful' newbie that somehow finds this forum every few years or so, and this particular post made me chuckle....

For those that are interested in these things;

Purchased the 2010 released 'Ultimate 2 disc edition' Blu-ray of Donnie Darko this year for a good cheap price, and whilst the picture quality wasn't that much of a step up from the previous DVD's, I thought this'll do nicely....

Fast forward to December, and Arrow will be releasing a 4K restored 4 disc set (2 Blu + 2 DVD) - HERE

I enjoyed this tale - heck, it's Carlos, and John innit.

But as with the Dark Judges - and their meet with P.J, it feels like more stories are yet to be told, and so it's hard to see this as the end....

Ian Culbard has worked his magic on Project Sketchbook...  I was sent the first image which I absolutely loved but when the second one came through I was floored.  I've got a real soft spot for Brink so it's great to have this in the book.

Always great to see updates on this thread. And another cracker.
I'd very much like to commission the INJC chap. Does he take on these, do you know?
(A Brass Sun piece would receive a loving home in my collection, if he happens to reads this....  :))

And a lovely Sin City page there, Mute77. Very partial to a bit of the Walker droid's art, and especially from that tale. A real fave.

I wonder... does Kev go back and fill in all the blacks on the original pages when he decides to sell them? I'm fairly sure he was just laying down the lines in ink and filling the blacks digitally by this stage...

An interesting titbit there. As a collector, art that is produced 100% digitally fills me with sadness, for obvious reasons. And having to go back to finish off the art physically to then be able to sell them on, seems like a lot of extra work. Though many artist do use the computer to fine tune/complete their art.

I know from the Sin City period, the Walker droid also did complete pencils, and then inked on a separate piece of board. So, 3 times the effort for later pages? Art, and the production of it, is certainly a complex thing, nowadays.

And always great to see more Ron Smith art pop up,  zhamlau
