your quest for original art has reached it's apex.

You may well be right.

Cheer's for all the comments, lads.
Now to watch out for those two Slaine commissions to land on here...

And on the reverse of the case:

"We use everything but the soul".

Good stuff Mark!

And Mr Button, whats in the bottom of that case? I can see a water bottle. Is the other bits some kind of breathing masks?

Caught the story over on CAF, Dale. A pretty amazing - and historic page of art, no wonder it grabbed your attention.
How you managed to snag the original art years later, is no doubt, another story..

Those Sonic's by Mick are brilliant as well. Is there nowt that man cant do?

And a dream comes true.
Recieved this earlier today from Mr McMahon. Its based on the episode of the Cursed Earth (prog 83) thats my favourite part of that strip.

Dredd (and Spikes) versus the Legion of the Damned.

To see the pencils, and then the inked version, in scanned form, was midblowing enough, but to actually hold the art in your hands...

Its been great to see all these commissions go up on Mick's blog (and great to see some landing for folks on here, as well) - and of course there's still a few more to come.
And after those, there's another batch due at the end of the year!

Film Discussion / Re: Dredd (2012)

I think Jim needed to be more emphatic.
Leaving his comment open to interpretation like that, has only fueled the rumours of a sequel.

Which is in the can already, apparently.

Southern Comfort. Not as brilliant as i remembered it being. And everybody goes crazy ape shit at the drop of a hat....
But still good fun, and well worth rewatching.

The end screams, literally screams, for a sequel.

It does that. If there was any justice etc etc.
Time for another re-watch of this!

Always really loved Ian's work on Dredd from this period. His best time on the strip?
(Been lucky enough to have snagged a original art page of his, from the Stookie Glanders story - a personal fave).

But 32 years ago, you say? Gulp..

Prog / Re: Prog 1820: Sins of The Flesh

My issue with the art was that last time it was pretty OTT cleavage-wise, and did detract from the story, but this time around ive no real problems with it - on that count.
Its stylised, for sure. And a wee bit cartoony - for the wont of a better word, but still, nice art.
(And is that bit of eye candy on page four wearing (just about) a version of the movie look Judge costume?)

Had chance to read, and re-read the prog in full now; Another cracker, i think. From the front cover to the back, i really enjoyed this. The two slowish strips - Red Seas and Stronty are on fine form. I dont think Stronty is a classic (though reading it as a whole will no doubt be a better experience), but its deffo pick up for me, of late.

Savage, and especially Ampney, are a joy to read at the moment. Superb stuff!

Help! / Re: Recommend me a printer
22 February, 2013, 09:29:54 PM
With the price of inks, its cheaper to throw away your printer/copier and buy a new one everytime they run out.
As Sauchie says, there all the same now, and they all do a pretty good job.

That's sad. Godfrey said he developed the strobe-effect action and dancing colour of his animation because he didn't have the cash to pay a team to fill in the colour and drawn the linking frames between poses necessary to provide the illusion of smooth movement. As a kid, I just thought it was a stylistic choice and two fingers up to the pretty but anodyne animated features being produced by Disney and Bakshi at that time. When I first heard Firestarter, it reminded me of the energy of the Roobarb and Custard theme and the effect it had on me as a wee boy.

Indeed it is sad news, and coming so soon after Richard Briers death, as well.
Roobarb and Custard is burnt into my subconsious, but it was nice to revisit that opening scene again via that link.
When my eldest niece was a lot younger, we had a 'best of' DVD that contained an episode each from all those 70's kids programmes - Roobarb was a particular favourite, and we both would regularly watch it together. Shrieks of laughter from her that then started me off. Great fun.

Looks mightily impressive!
Dont recall much from the new Eagle - and ive not had a chance to read any issues in years, but Ian Kennedy's work is just brilliant.

Just to clarify though; Are these scans of the strips, or are they the actual pages from the comic that have been cut out, and then binded together?

Not heard owt back from the seller, so i guess the mysterious 'big name artist' is still in the front of the queue in regards to buying this.

Meanwhile, where's that tracking number..?

Is something being tracked?  ;)

Yes, it would be almost criminal to split it up, but £5,000....
And i notice that Rufus is now listing a very nice McMahon Dredd page from the brilliant Brain Blooms episode that appeared in prog 18.
Sigh, its all landing at once - again!
