Just caught this now (havent been near the internet, or TV all day), dear lord, what totally shocking, and appalling news.
Of course, thoughts go out to the people, and their families.

It is indeed. Really enjoyed this weeks prog. From cover to cover, i cant fault it.
Dredd is back to being top again this week, and the other stories are just as good.

Lots of references in Red Seas.
Including The Owl and the Pussycat, Casting the Runes by M.R. James and the Night of the Demon movie it became, an alien body from Quatermass and the Pit, Dracula's skull, the space capsule from the Ray Harryhausen version of First Men in the Moon, Kali from the Golden Voyage of Sinbad, the Nautilus, ang king Kong.

There's probably many more.

Isnt that a Morlock from the Time Machine on page one?

I think Prometheus' fire will dim quite a bit over the years. There's just not much meat there other than some nice visuals and the signal to noise ratio at the moment on forums discussing its philosophical and artistic 'weight' is tuned more to the crackling end of that band - it won't last.

Thats a sober analysis, Joe, and one i dont necessarily disagree with, but it could be equally stated that on the forums there is a considerable appetite for Prometheus still, suggesting it may have legs.

The film, or more to the point, the people behind the film, have certainly put a few noses out of joint, so its not suprising to see people channeling the restless spirit of Rock Hudson on here,  ;)

Not bad, even my Marvel XMEN buddy from work whos has never read 2000AD  is fed up with IronMan/Thor etc and wants to tag along for some justice....
Folk are fed up with spandex whingers moaning about their girlfriends/parents.

This is where i can see Dredd really taking off.
In a lot of ways, it might be viewed as a much needed alternative to the usual big budget extravagandas that so often fail to deliver. A nice little short sharp shock.

Funny thing is of course that we want it because of the quality of the work and the story that resides within, not for the value on the open market.

We care.

Aye. This is it, certainly on here, that its the love for an artist/story thats the driving force behind the collecting.

I remember looking at 3 pages of sky chariots by McMahon for £35 a page in Comic Showcase back in 1993.

Still remember the covers for the Apocalypse War GN's going for a couple of hundred?, now I hate to think how much they would be worth.

Somebody posted this McMahon Rico page on Twitter, saying it had cost him £15 in the early 80's.
I can console myself with the fact that the asking price, back then, would have placed this way beyond my reach.

How much a page from this story would be worth now, i shudder to think.

Note to other 2000ad artists: More of this sort of thing, please! We fans like nothing more than a glimpse behind the scenes and getting things professionally printed is easy in this day and age.
Yes, a Mick McMahon sketchbook, would be nice. Thank you.

I think many artists may be put off doing sketch books, as they might have to contact all the publishers of certain characters for the right to publish their images. I imagine it could be a complete pain in the bottom negotiating with the half a dozen license holders that might be involved.

True, and Mick himself has said he's kept very little of his art. Doesnt even have much in the way of copies, either. So putting together a sketchbook, would be doubley problematic?

The apologists would have you believe that 'Blade Runner and Alien got bad reviews on release

Alien, or Prometheus?

To be fair I don't think either of them are going that far

I must admit, im siding with borntohula on this. He's held his own well, and made some good replies/points on here, which have largely gone unacknowledged.

Honestly - if you need to do the intellectual back-flips you're doing right now to justify the movie, then it is not a good movie.
As I said: it'll be on the same list as Battlefield Earth sooner rather than later.

I dont think anybody is saying Prometheus is a perfect film by any stretch, but what i dont understand is why certain people, yes - i am looking at you Richmond, Radiator et al, see fit to post what amounts to nothing more than snipes, and seem hell bent in getting in the dismissive last word all the time.

Nice one! That inked piece is lovely, plus it comes with a prelim as well, doesnt it?
(Dug out the '83 Annual the other day, just to look at that Rogue feature again. Good stuff.)

It's a care in the community project for sad and lonely geeks to make them feel a woman may actually talk to them, although only electronically!

And a AngryBird is better than NoBird,  :(

Well, no suprise that they all sold. The five pieces, added together, went for about £500ish.
Looks like no one person snagged the lot, either. Anyone on here get something?

Zoomed in on the lovely poster posted previously checking out the detail on DREDD's face only  to discover this!  Any idea's?  ... Looks like a ghostly apparition to me!  :o
That's freaky...but there is a line above, a reflection, what you see is another massive poster reflected from an adjacent wall...but that is spooky.

Its...not....
Scojo
is it?
