I rewatched THE LIGHTHOUSE for the fourth time and the first time on the small screen. It might well be my latest edition to the endlessly rewatchable list. Completely quotable and deliciously perverse.

Yeah Shazam! is consistently excellent, even gets in a proper ye oldie PG-13 'Is this for kids?' sequence.

It's an absolute blight and I'd sooner be without it. Facebook is only useful for the messenger function which is better than most text based alternatives.

Cheers lads, sorry to grumble over so little.

Oh of course I'll be sticking around, and I appreciate the very true fact I'm not alone in exploiting this particular coping mechanism.

But it's time to step back from it, for awhile at least, and perhaps retreat a little more into myself. I don't want to potentially alienate myself or anyone else.

After a rather uncomfortable discussion with someone I considered a friend, I've decided to remove myself from social media for at least the tenure of the present lockdown circumstances.

It's become abundantly clear to me I've been using it as a crutch in the absence of actual socializing through these incredibly lonely and stressful times and that's had a deeply detrimental effect on how I behave. I've been living vicariously through others, and that's never a good thing.

*Cryptids, mainly. Belong above the 'speculation' line and below the 'leaving reality' one. You can speculate on unknown animal life represented in folklore without leaving reality,  surely!  But also 'Govt made diseases' seems a bit high, since I'm sure someone has a budget for that.

Ah but your a reasonable sort Tordels, take a few moments to look at any given Cryptid board and you'll find it rotten to the core with Christian fundamentalism, phrenology, and white supremacy.
The good name of theoretical zoology has been tarnished somewhat by, and i'll be somewhat polite here, wankers.

I often wonder weather Adam Curtis is kicking himself for pitching HYPERNORMALISATION too early, as the prominence of manufactured realities and 'alternative facts' under the Trump administration feels like an inevitable inclusion in that truly mammoth documentary.

I've watched a lot of schlock and shit in my life.

But never Casablanca.

Figure it being on Iplayer now's as good as ever.

Domestic neo-nazi terrorists getting deplatformed, accidently doxxed and slapped on a no-flight restriction is 'chefs kiss' so good.

I listened to a great audio reading of THE TALE OF SATAMPRA ZEIROS, the first in his Hyperborea cycle and very much Smith's Call of Cthulhu, and was deeply impressed. Very excited to crack open the Penguin edition, the inclusion of a huge chunk of his prose and verse poetry is much welcome as well.

Was mostly chocolate. And whisky. Got some very good books though, so not a bad haul at all...
