Film & TV / Re: Current TV Boxset Addiction

Just wrapped up my Utena marathon with the feature film, which although doesn't quite reach the godly levels of great character writing and whittey scripting teamed with symbolism aplenty as seen in the series, was still fun. I was so impressed with Nozomi's boxsets also that i checked there site....and noticed they had released the entire run of The Dirty Pair. I'll be buying these soon for sure.

Fargo (oh yah, eh), Darkman and The Big Lebowski.

Fargo- I love
Darkman- I enjoy, 'tis a fun pulpy film, with some wonderfully hammy performances
The Big Lebowski- I rate as one of my favourite films. Can't put my finger on the main reason why, but there are, of course, many reasons.

On a side note, John Turturro dancing (in Barton Fink, Big Lebowski, and in the background in O brother, where art thou?) may just be the best thing ever.
Yay on all accounts is certainly this. TBL is a classic.

The Howling: Reborn (2011)- Certainly the only 'good' sequel to Joe Dante's essential Lycanthrope classic...though it lacks the fun of the other sequels. Although this little title clearly has better production values (and prosphetic Werewolfs and transformation sequences) it all come's off a bit post-Near Dark. It's a good way to pass an hour and a half but if you want a genuinly good Werewolf movie that ISN'T An American... then go for the original, IMHO the second best Lycanthrope film of all time...and then watch the hilarious sequel with Chris Lee and his Holy Hand Grenade!

The first volume of Red Seas is so cheap on amazon that I'm tempted to buy it, and I don't even like Red Seas.
Bloody hell that is a bit good. One copy for me please.  :D

I don't see what everyone is disliking about Ampney, I thought it was a fitting ending albait a bit rushed and it tied a subplot up nicely all the while keeping things open. Look at it this way, the government just commisioned a hit on a Babaggist church, how is the divine head of the organisation going to deal with this? Could be looking at war here.

Talking about Oz, does Bruce Campbell and Raimi's 'Classic' car make an appearance? I wonder how he'd fit the latter into the film!

No sign of the car as far as I can see, but Bruce Campbell makes a appearance as one of the Winkie guards

A lot of Star Wars or Alien/Aliens was filmed in the UK, I doubt location makes a difference.
Cpt. America: The First Avenger also was shot in and around Salford.

hasn't Orlando Doyle already appeared in Stickleback?
Yep, I also seem to remember an Ogre from American Gothic also being in there, let's not forget The Brotherhood of the Book existing in both TRS and Sticky. Didn't a picture of Jack Dancer appeare in Sticky at one point, as well as The Jolly Criple?

I'm going to give the teenage Hawkmonger the benefit of the doubt and assume he's a prisoner of the rhetorical trap which means most Scottish men must dismiss any conceptual thought which requires imaginative sympathy as nonsense; can only discuss economic, social and political issues in terms of how they affect their daily lives (i); and tend to frame any activity without direct bearing on themselves as a personal affront.
Erm...thanks?
