Lee Carter's double page splashes in this run of Indigo Prime are truly wonderous. They always seem to synch with a nice dramatic beat on the page turn - props to John Smith scribe for the dramatic timing - and always bring a sense of awe and wonder that rightly runs through this story in rich seams.

Basically, i've always loved Indigo Prime as a concept. Sometimes the stories an artwork gel to get it "right". the previous high water mark for me was Chris Weston's work on "Killing Time". I thought that was the unbeatable exemplar of what Indigo Prime could/should be. With Smith and Carter's work here, though, I think we've got a contender for the crown.

Check out the "subliminals" on the screens behind Danny on the 2nd page of Indigo Prime. Seems to tally with the hidden faces spotted in some of the panels last prog.

General / A 2000AD film by any other name

We're talking non 2000AD films they have more than a flavour of the prog about them.

The Dredd inspiration for RoboCop has been well documented. Furthermore I  believe I'm right in saying the publishers had to sue for a writing credit to Hardware since it bore striking similarities to a Future Shock. A copy of the Future Shock was packaged with my DVD of the movie.

Has anyone seen the Tom Selleck film Runway, written and directed by Michael Crichton? I'm not calling foul by any stretch of the imagination, but there's some Robot Hunter flavour in there, as well as a programable bullet that screams Dredd, and a robot spider that injects poison (if memory serves) just like young PJ Maybe used to use. Runway was released in 1984 and PJ made his 1st appearance in 1987, so again, I'm not saying there's plagiarism iinvolved, I just find it interesting. Are there any more flicks out there with a hint of Thrill about them?

General / Re: ABC Warriors - Return to Mars - continuity

Ah so, thank you!

I'd forgotten that Volkhan and Blackblood had abandoned Mek-quake. That little piece of the puzzle threw me for a complete curve when Mek-quake turned up last week :D

So Mek-quake's left Volkhan and is with Quartz now and we're bang up to the rpesrent and anything can happen?
Nice.
Why's everything in black and white then? (I kid, I kid)

General / ABC Warriors - Return to Mars - continuity
28 February, 2014, 02:23:36 PM
Mek-quake's recent appearance as Howard Quartz's bodyguard had really twisted my melon in the "Return to Mars" storyline, and much like the Meknificent 7 I'm adrift on the time streams.

I was pretty clear that Happy Shrapnel's current story is a flashback from the "now" of the story. Clint Langley's superb black & white art is the main cue. However, I've come unstuck...

Where are we now?

Here's how I understand it to the point of unravelling:

After the Volgan War the Warriors were formed and sent to tame Mars (The Meknificent Seven). Happy Shrapnel dies on Mars.
After they disbanded there was Ro-Busters.
Nemesis brings them back together and after some time tunnel shenanigans (the Black Hole) the Warriors do their Chronicle of Khaos and Hellbringer stuff in the far flung future (future from "now" – but not as far as the end of the world in the Black Hole)

Recently we learned that Deadlock received a signal from the past, from Happy Shrapnel after Medusa woke Mars (with him along for the ride)

The Warriors travel back in time and back to Mars. We have the Shadow Warriors and stuff like that, and Mek-quake is put in Broadband Asylum where a decommissioned Volkhan is. We've recently found out that Happy Shrapnel (now as Tubal Cain) was the one who decommissioned him.

We get The Volgan War flashbacks. In the "now" Volkhan escapes and currently Mek-quake and Blackblood are with him whilst the remaining Warriors look like they're going to try and recruit Tubal/Happy Shrapnel.

So.....(deep breath)...in Happy/Tubal's flashback currently in the prog, Howard Quartz tells us that Happy has *already* decommissioned Volkhan, but Mek-quake is with Quartz at the moment so how is he on Mars and not with the other Wariors doing their Khaos stuff?

Is this flashback occurring before Nemesis reforms the Warriors? Which is when, I think I'm right in remembering, he makes Mek-quake one of the Warriors?

Please help, my brain is melting (in a good way)

I was on such a high last night after seeing Dredd that I found I had the courage to tell the girl I've liked for ages how I feel about her. And she reciprocated. Now THAT'S an endorsement.

Dredd - bringing people together since 2012.

Thank you to all involved for the film that this fan has been waiting his whole life to see.

Just want to duck into this thread again to metaphorically take my hat off to Karl Urban.

I know that doing the press junkets and convention thing is locked tightly into contracts now, but the enthusiasm he's approached this part of his task with, coupled with what seems to be a very natural out-going and affable style, have really helped to push this movie into people's consciousnesses, I think.

OK, I know we're talking about geeks here, and most likely not the wider going cinema audience, but still, I think he's done a stellar job at promoting this flick within the geek community, but more importantly to those geeks who don't know Dredd - or only know that *mumble mumble * 1995.

He comes across as a genuinely nice bloke who has a genuine enthusiasm for this project.

I can't wait to see him taking down those perps!

Does nobody want ABC Warriors in a cinema near them, this summer? Or next summer? or whenever?

Just don;t let Michael bay near it - [shudder].
yes yes yes.
A while ago my friends and I were dream casting voice actors for the warriors. Forgotten most of them now but Vin Diesel voicing Joe Pineapples always stuck in my head. Maybe Alan Rickman for Deadlock?

Just jumping in to say how truly excited I am with the mainly thoroughly positive reviews the Comicon screening is getting. Bad word of mouth would have killed it dead but these reviews seem like a massive shot in the arm. US box office will be what it will be, but I know that US genre fans have been bemoaning watered down violence and blue lanuage for years now.  I hope these reviews get additional bums on seats, followed by subsequent word of mouth.

I'm even more psyched now...if that were possible
