Film & TV / Re: Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

I saw the first trailer for this film a while back and thought it looks awesome. Problem is that experience has taught me that many films with trailers that look awesome turn out to be duds. The first film was OK, but not brilliant IMO. Will the law of sequels hold true? Meaning that it will be worse than the original: So worse than OK is cr*p. However I'm a big Nicolas Cage fan and will watch him read the shipping forecast so I'll be watching regardless.

While I am new to this forum, I did stumble across the Thrillpowered Thursday blog a while ago along with Pete Wells blog on 2000AD covers. These two blogs are responsible for stirring up my enthusiasm for all things 2000AD which led me to this forum to interact with other Squaxx.

One reason why I look forward to reading your blog, Grant Goggans, is that it covers the period when I wasn't reading 2000AD. It is very helpful in filling in the continent-sized gaps in my knowledge of the 2000AD universe. When you stopped a while ago, I missed it and it wasn't clear whether you'd pick it up again. So when a few weeks ago it appeared in my RSS feed again, I was really happy  :D

If it's now free, what's the objection to an Android version? The point made earlier in this thread is that iPhone/iPad users fork out more money for apps compared to Droid users.

Love Henry Flint's cover!

Enjoying Dredd and looking forward to seeing how all the different threads come together. P J Maybe to save the day?

I can't get into Sinister Dexter - elsewhere in this forum, I've asked what's so funting good about them?

Again I'm can't get into Indigo Prime. I did read this blog http://thrillpoweredthursday.blogspot.com/2011/09/146-indigo-prime-is-back-and-its-about.html raving about Indigo, but it doesn't push my buttons.

I've not enjoyed Angel Zero much either, though the artwork is very distinctive. She's no Halo Jones, unfortunately.  :(

Overall, I'm not experiencing as much thrill power as I did a few months ago. TBH if I had picked this issue up during my period of thrill-sucker infestation, I wouldn't have been hooked and wouldn't have renewed my weekly reading habit. I miss Zombo & Absalom, though I'm looking forward to reading Absalom's one-off story next week!

Currently there's an out-of-date certificate on the server. I have to over-ride the security on my browser to get onto the website.

I'd like to say again that I really appreciate all the responses to my thread and it has helped me get a sense of where Sinister Dexter are in the world of 2000AD.

I like the idea of a story done from the viewpoint of the bullets. Can anyone tell me the Prog no. for this story please?

Finally I wanted to say what an awesome forum this is and I look forward to participating on its pages for a long time to come. However the restrictions placed on newbies are frustrating me atm (for example I wanted to post my views on the latest progs but couldn't). But I understand the reasons why they are there. I reckon the reason why this is such a scrotnig forum is that it makes it difficult for the trolls, spammers and grexnixes (is this the correct plural form?) to invade.

:) Thank you so much for your response and the link which I've also read. It was the thoughtful & helpful reply that I was hoping to get but not sure if I would.

General / Why are Sinister Dexter popular?
15 December, 2011, 07:51:41 AM
Hi, I've returned to regular 2000AD reading after a 20 year thrillsucker infestation. I'm wanting to fill in this two decade gap and discover the thrills that I've missed. Reading through this forum, I see several members praising Sinister Dexter. I've been reading their recent adventure and I find them, speaking personally, rather dull. All they seem to do is go round randomly shooting people and saying "funting" in every speech balloon. Sorry, I just don't get their appeal. But maybe it's because I don't know their back story and haven't followed their adventures from the start. So I'm starting this thread to ask the Squaxx why SinDex are so good, and which past stories should I read to see them at their best.

Disappointed that Absalom is only a one-off in Prog 2012. I loved this old fart and was hoping for another series. Still it will be good to catch up on Johnny Alpha

Great artwork. I've never heard of Deviantart until I read this thread. Isn't the internet wonderful? I wish this had been around when I was a kid and had the time to explore this kind of stuff. There's so much talent out there

I have marked 5-May-2012 in my diary with "visit my local comic shop". I reckon I'll need to get there early as this cover looks hot!

Hi to all interested.
I've been reading 200 AD since i was 8 years old in 77 I've had a break from 90's until now but now i'm back reading on a weekly basis. It's good to be reading again i've missed so much new strips etc. but i'm catching up. slowly!

anyway it's good to be here with fellow fans
:D

SNAP! You're similar to me - I started reading 2000AD in '77 and read every issue until '90/'91. Then in 2011 I started reading weekly again. It's good to be back and I look forward to catching up on what I've missed.

Welcome to the mad world of thrillpower. You might find these two threads useful, in which we discussed Dredd recommendations for newcomers / converts.

On a non-Dredd front, The Complete Bad Company collection has just been released... I am biased, because it's my favourite strip ever, but that would certainly be well worth a look.

I've been away from 2000AD for about 20 years and found this thread helpful in giving suggestions on how to catch up. I have fond memories of the early multi-prog Dredd stories like Cursed Earth, Judge Child & Apocalypse War. Joe Dredd has definitely aged!

And I remember enjoying Bad Company with Kano and the weird ending (unless it reappeared in the last two decades).

I just wanted to add my voice to the others here requesting an Android version of this game.
